Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Personally I like to take the markerlight in my stealth teams, that way even if they move away to try and take other objectives the stealth suits can still be useful and it makes them a target, keeping the heat off other things on the table

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Blob of 51 drones. It's 10 commanders each with 2 shield drones, 3 6 man drone squads with 3 shield drones, 2 gun, 1 marker, 1 6 man with 2 each, and one 7 man with 2 gun, 2 marker, and 3 shield. 3 squads of 5 strike team because I needed a battalion. Oh and 4 kroot hounds because of DS protection....

Re: Building/painting models faster

I find if I'm trying to get a bunch of guys done at once an assembly line is usually a good way to go. This goes for both building and painting, cutting all the pieces I need off the sprue then cleaning all of them up at once, then glueing them all together at once. The benefit to this is that once ...

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

TLDR: Based on the wording of that ability that's giving you trouble, mortal wounds should bypass it. Broadsides and the hammer head can take seeker missles But you would want some markerlights. Railgun +long strike can help the with mortal wound chance if you change the Hammerhead loadout. I also ...

Re: Interesting Combo - Riptides and Ethereals

To be fair, all forgeworld models put into codex were then made as regular plastic minis, i don't quite see them doing that with the y'vahra or the r'vahna any time soon since they are still actively selling on FW

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

Wow I'm kinda glad necrons are absent from my local meta, both of those rules sound scary as hell! As for how to deal 14+ wounds in as many attacks as possible why not gun drones? A 6-man gun drone squads put out, what 24 shots? Drop a 3 man crisis team with 3 CIB and 2 gun drones each with a 3 CIB+...

Re: How to differentiate Drone units among them

My drone-saucers are not glued to the actual drone system below. Also I have my saucers marked with the T'au numerals with 6 drones sharing the same number. This way I can say "The Ones belong to this unit and the Twos to this" or if I have more than 6 drones in a unit "Ones and Twos...

Re: Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

My idea was to use the engram neurochip as a sort of storage device for dead shas so that even though they have passed, they can live on through the use of Artificial Intelligence ala the Purifier Fenix from SC2 less as a means to create blank A.I. that can be taught from scratch. But upon learning ...

Re: Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

I also think that the real cost of installing AI would be the research costs, after that the additional cost per suit is likely to be very low (just additionnal processing power) - so once the tech is set up, it would cost very little to spread it widely. Any thoughts? Would A.I. controlled suits e...

I love that ghostkeel, and the scheme looks really great! Might you divulge the teal you use on the tanks? It's the exact shade I want for my tau's Sept Color

Re: Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

It's funny that you guys mention A.I. and rebelling against their creators cause that's exactly what I was going with for my commander and the A.I. "Tau" program used to create him. Similar to the Purifiers from StarCraft 2, where they realized that despite them being basically living tau ...

Re: Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

Huh I had not expected that to be so simple. I never got the farsight enclaves book cause I had quit 40k by the time it came out but I may have to see if I can find a copy somewhere if for nothing less than the fluff. Now I do have another question. Is this a mostly farsight enclaves thing? I can't ...

Tau A.I. and engram nuerochips

I have a few lore related questions for the assembled brothers of the Tau'va. Firstly, exactly how advanced is tau artificial intelligence? I know drones are effectively animal levels of intelligence with basic understanding of how to use their various equipment but how much further have tau advance...

Re: 2000pt Y'vahra test vs Space wolves

Damn, guess the y'vahra really is the better riptide variant, if only they made plastic one instead of the forgeworld only resin and plastic. I'm glad to see tau winning this edition even without a codex, we can only hope for the codex to improve upon what we already have going for us (though gws co...

As posted earlier on these very forums (about 2 years ago) it covered the top of one of the arms that has a cut away to allow it to be more dynamic in case you wanted a stock old-school arm pose

Re: PeeJs sept rebuild project

Idk how I feel about that odd color on their tops, is that supposed to be glow or grime? Cause it looks like it could be either to me, otherwise I quite like them. On another note, how do people handle unit markings for drones, since they could end up in squads, accompanying suits etc? I'm not sure ...
