Re: The run to 8th edition

One silver lining I haven't seen mentioned yet: Fireblades (HQ), Firesight Marksman/Shaper (Elite), Sniper Drones (Heavy Support) and Kroot Hounds (Fast Attack) give T'au a relatively inexpensive unit for every slot. In principle, that should help us fill out force organisation charts and pick up Co...

Re: [WIP] Unclear Picture, Intention To Reverse Team

Righto! After a jolly little break I've finally found time to photograph the completed team. Or rather, the team so far, as I now need another few models in the same style to fill out to 10+3 :D First, the canny Por'vre directing the session arranged for some 'action' shots. http://i.imgur.com/UQLGW...

Re: The run to 8th edition

By this reasoning, it was never a sphere. Sphere isn't literal, in this case. It's symbolic or metaphorical. Like how "Sphere of influence," isn't a literal geometrical sphere within which people are influenced. Conversely, Kroot Warspheres are literally spherical. Two things jump out at ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Save some Reinforcement Points for Blue Horrors and Brimstone Horrors as well... Having a generic name for the pool of points that summoned units draw from hints that it might be used for other things too. Here it looks like the budget can also be used to pay for horrors splitting, but it's plausib...

Re: Shadow War: Armageddon tactics and warband make up

"No more than half" so 6 is the maximum number of recruits now (not 7). Also we can lose an extra guy before bottling. As per Core Rules - Dividing (page 22) fractions are always rounded up in Shadow War, so half of 13 is 7. It's a moot point as I don't think there's an efficient way to e...

Re: Shadow War: Armageddon tactics and warband make up

It's a pretty big change, even if I doubt it goes for enough to bring Pathfinders up to a level with the core rulebook factions. Certainly, we are now the kings of disposable screens now, which whilst not the most Tau philosophy is a broadly valid use of drones. If something has to take a bullet, su...

Re: Shadow Wars: Rules Feedback and FAQ

The official FAQ has been revised - you can grab it from here . The big news is that Tau Pathfinder Kill Teams are now composed of 3-10 Pathfinders and an additional 3 Drones. Recon Drones have been bumped up to W2. They have explicitly confirmed that the ion rifle shouldn't have an overcharged prof...

Re: Shadow Wars: Rules Feedback and FAQ

Great, thanks for clarifying - I don't mean to be obstinate here! It's really helpful to be keep clear which specific issues being addressed with each batch of rules tweaks. Importantly, it should also help pin back to a clear message we can present to the design team of these issues, separately to ...

Re: Shadow Wars: Rules Feedback and FAQ

But! At least the Tau options work when the users move, and they play to suitable themes by having a unique (to Shadow War) collaboration mechanic. I agree that the net result is far weaker, but is it weak enough that moving to 10+3, markerlight countering camo and adding the option of a Marker Dron...

Re: Shadow Wars: Rules Feedback and FAQ

I wouldn't get too hung up on porting the 40k incarnation of Pathfinders into Shadow War, except where doing so directly covers a balance issue. Ideally, a skirmish level game can capture the essence of a Pathfinder team better; that's one of the reasons I've been looking at established fiction for ...
