Re: How to make Pulse Carbines viable for Fire Warriors

In the early days of our Codex the Pulse carbine had the special rule 'pinning' that would force a leadership test to see if the unit cant move the next turn if it lost any wounds from pulse carbine fire. That was the rule translation of the fluff underslung grenade launcher. Something like forcing ...

Re: Do the Tau make use of wheels anywhere?

I think roads for Tau anti-grav fulfil the same role like roads do for wheeled vehicles. I would think in a hightech environments these roads improve active or passive the performance of low ground anti-grav drives. It is like off-road wheeled vehicles can drive in rough terrain without many problem...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

The thing is not about IF there is an answer. Its about which of many possible answers is the correct one, or better; Wich of the answers is the answer GW had in mind at the moment they wrote them into the books. That is where all theses discussions come from. We try to find out, what the intention ...

8th Edition - Rise of the Shield Generator?

Hi there! First with all the new 8th Edition Topics i could have missed it, so excuse me if I bring up an old Topic but here we go. After about 3-4 Games in the new Edition, I am very disappointed about what the Tau army has become. Besides the well known problems inside our own units I want to shif...

Re: Let's Contact GW!

Agree. Awesome collection of current rule oddities. Keep it that detailed! The main reason why these questions come up is because the rules are not written precise or detailed enough. Solving this by asking questions the same simplified way wont help.

Re: Pathfinder Vanguard?

I think the best solution to all these issues would be to simply get rid of all that "form a seperate unit"-part for infantry and battlesuit units. For me it appears that someone simply copy and paste that wording from Drone entries of Vehicles datasheets, where they are able to disembark/...

Re: New 8th FAQ

RAI would be completely otherwise. If the intend was, that Longstrike keeps his 2+ BS even if he moved, he would get a special rule especially for that, like Markerdrone for example. The rule says "...other friendly ...". Other is the important part here. The Rule is Longstrikes equivalent...

Re: Shieldline rule and dice roll rules.

I believe the Shieldline Rules together with a lot of other new 8th Edition Tau Rules are the Result of ppl converting the 7th Edition Unit Stats over to the 8Th Edition by simply using the old Datasheets as starting Point without even looking into the Fluff about a specific unit. In the old Edition...

Re: Tigershark AX-1-0 FW FAQ

Keep in mind that the whole lower compartment of the TS F-B is removed and replaced with additional power supply for the AX 1-0 Railguns. So The Railgun upgrade comes with its own dedicated power supply separate from the main power supply for flight.

Re: An interesting application of Longstrike's hull shape and terrain.

I took a look inside the german rulebook. and here the wording is better to understand. 'Within' is better translated with words meaning 'inside'. So the sentence is meant like "a unit entirely on or entirely within any terrain feature".

Re: An interesting application of Longstrike's hull shape and terrain.

I think the question is, if the advanced terrain rules replace the general terrain and cover criteria from the core rules or if they are add to that rules.
If they replace the cover rules, it would make terrain rules solid again. If not we come to all these interpretation problems we have now.

Re: Tidewall and Embarked Models

:edit: got something wrong. You are right. AP-3 and better weapons di eliminate the "Tidewall Field" special rule. Because applying modifiers means in the new edition to actually turn the dice and therefore changing the actual diceroll itself instead of giving a result with the diceroll as...

Re: An interesting application of Longstrike's hull shape and terrain.

Hm... i also still disagree with the "within" part. For me the Tank touching the building is not within the terrain feature.

Here is my interpretation based on a side view instead on top, to make a bit more clear.

Re: Stimulant injector + sense of stone?

Hm... i still think, its problematic. With the 8th Edition we have to watch out because a wound is not the same as damage and wounds is also the word for the hitpoints of a model. So the question here is, if the SI ans SoS rules apply for the wound like in Step 3 in "4. Resolve Attacks" on...

Re: Tidewall and Embarked Models

Thats not quite right. Even if someone uses AP-3 weapons we can still throw for reflects because in 8th edition, modifiers apply after your roll. So we throw our save -> on a 6 it is reflected -> apply modifiers (6-3=3) -> check that modified save with the Sv value in the Dataslate (3 is not 4+) -> ...

Re: Stimulant injector + sense of stone?

Interesting. Stimulant Injector talking specifically about "suffers a wound" while Sense of Stone talking specifically about "suffers an unsaved wound" So the flowchart would be: get hit -> get wound -> check SI -> if SI fails roll Sv -> if Sv fails roll 'Sense of Stone' -> if So...

Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

Elphiel, are you perhaps thinking of the new AX-5-2 Barracuda, which has Cyclic Ion Blasters as potential replacements to the Long Barrel Burst Cannon? Because the Barracuda appears to have kept that option. Or was the new Tigershark rumored to have that option as well? I might have missed that. I ...

Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

What i think is a bit weird is, that in the new Tigershark Fighter-Bomber, the 14 gun drones are not included in the point cost anymore. No more 14 gundrone squads as a unit of tactical drones has a maximum of 12 models. Sure we can pick two squads but its still odd. Also we have to pay for them ext...
