Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

One way for them to sell more models with no extra effort on their part while still adding something to Tau that's been in our fluff since the Damocles Crusade would be to include rules for using Gue'vesa in our main codex (please not just a 10 man guard squad though). This would also give us someon...

Re: Riptide overnerf?

I would argue that drones can't be targeted separately if they are within 3 of other unit or are the closest target. What? Have I missed something or are you making up rules? Drones are a separate unit, I don't see any reason why what you said could be argued at all. My opinion so far on everything...

Re: Drones on 8th : Which ones/where?

That sounds like it defeats the point of taking drones as wargear

Re: Drones on 8th : Which ones/where?

Could I just get a clarification here about drones because I didn't read about them when I was scanning over the leaks. Do drones not form a part of their parent unit like they did before? Everyone seems to be talking as if drones that accompany our infantry (as opposed to dedicated drone squads) ar...

What about solid shot railhead vs marines? Mortal Wounds spill over don't they?

Re: The run to 8th edition

On the discussion on Tyranid CC we have a couple of other things to consider. Firstly remember how morale works. If we can target and remove synapse creatures then morale checks will be taking away extra tyranids when we shoot them (from what i remember Nids don't have great base Ld and rely on syna...

Re: The run to 8th edition

This new ed was advertised as being much better balanced than previous ones. While maybe not specifically stated, that should include diminishing the reliance on LOW choices and making regular Infantry more useful than before. Today's news seems to be a step in the wrong direction because it allows...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Is any one else actually excited about the prospect of close combat being worth investing in? So many players I've seen saying dedicated cc units aren't even worth putting on the table these days. If the balance between ranged and close combat is restored a bit I'm looking forward to seeing more var...

Advice for scratch building flyers

Some time ago I wrote myself a list that comprised my dream tau apocalypse army. I've always loved tau flyers and so that was the basis of my list which includes many barracudas, 2 tiger sharks, 2 orcas and a manta it's a list made entirely on rule of cool and is meant to be more impressive to look ...

Re: I think I played Homing wrong

as far as i'm concerned we've answered the original question and are now discussing the clarity or lack thereof in the shooting rules that are relevant to homing.

Re: I think I played Homing wrong

That's a valid criticism. On the other hand, if you appeal to formal logic (which is what you do when you try to bend the rules), the statement "a model satisfying condition X can shoot" does not imply the statement "a models cannot shoot if it doesn't satisfy condition X". That...

Re: I think I played Homing wrong

I think what the OP is trying to suggest is that the rules don't contradict because the way it could be read is that you require LOS to target a unit because the firing unit still has to have LOS on an enemy unit before it can choose a weapon however homing allows wounds caused by an SMS to be alloc...

Re: Which tau books and stories are worth reading?

I remember reading "For The Emperor" a Ciaphas Cain novel that heavily involved the Tau, yes it isn't written from the Tau perspective but I really enjoy Cain as a character and I remember it being a really good read.

Re: Tau List Building Theorycrafting - Allies

Inquisition was something I was thinking about too. If I remember correctly there's a piece of wargear you can give an inquisitor to make them and their unit hilarious against anything that contains a psyker. (BS 10 vs psykers I think it was) wouldn't be horribly expensive and Tau won't have to worr...

Re: Winning Without the Riptide Wing

If we're talking tournaments and presumably maelstrom of war here. Surely the answer to beating riptide wings is to ignore them and play the objective, take a CAD MSU list of fire warriors in devilfish and sit on objectives laughing. The only thing a riptide has that can reliably scratch AV12 is fus...
