Re: [Question] Piranha Base

Personally I despise the clear plastic stands, they don't "hide" at all because of the way the light catches on the plastic, they actually stand out much more than a simple mat black rod, and then they all have air bubbles... What I use for flying stands is a length of spring steel (which ...

Re: Interest in painting "how to" series???

PS: I noticed you quoted me on the "I won't paint that much blue" thing; maybe it's the language difference, or maybe I'm just plain bad in expressing myself in english, but your response was conveying exactly what I meant over the matter: it'd be great for learning a skill which would be...

Re: Interest in painting "how to" series???

Idea! What if you started a thread where you would show us a simple technique (like blending a shoulder pad or something) then members could post their attempts in another thread and you could help them after seeing how their stuff is turning out. Then each (week, month, whatever) you could post a ...

Re: Interest in painting "how to" series???

Hi guys, Thanks for the interest so far! I've thought about this more since my late night posting and realised several things that should be mentioned... The guides won't be aimed at complete beginners, but also won't only be beneficial for those who have a reached a high standard so I guess they'd ...

Interest in painting "how to" series???

I'm never one to hold back in giving back to the community, everyone who has ever commented on any of my work has helped me get to the stage I am now whether they are a showcase painter or just starting out, everyone has opinions and sometimes its the new guy who's right on the money, so thank you t...

Re: Thousand Sons Chaos Themed Force Project

Orpheus - some nice figures there! A very different force to mine - where you're exploring the mutable nature of chaos I'm completely ignoring it :P I've not had much of a chance to pant more lately, but should get some done in the next week or so as I'll have more time. Aiming to get that second Ob...

Re: [Guide] Painting Thousand Sons Chaos Marines

Massively late reply sorry, but I'm just getting back into this forum after a long absence. Checked out your marines and they look great mate, even just lightening the blue like you have improves on the GW colour scheme which I really am not a fan of. :) I'll have to get onto adding those pictures t...

Re: Handling Low Tau Leadership in Low Point games

Loosing a 6 men FW unit is OK, but things really get bad when I lost my Broadsides unit because 1 SD just fell down... Probably being picky, but wanted to make sure that you're playing this right. If you lose one Shield Drone, are you losing 25% of the squad? If not I am not sure why one loss would...

Re: Target Priority : Demon Princes and Chaos Obliterators

As a Chaos player who never uses Lash (partly because of the nasty looks that gets you, but mostly for theme), I can say the power isn't all that terrible, but when you add in 9! Obliterators to take advantage of the "clumping" effect if can get you... well... So the Demon Princes? They ca...

Re: New Tau Codex Rumors

I'm going to wait until some more information comes out before I start getting over excited. The Railgun Rumor - only states for Hammerhead mounted railguns that the projectile will keep going so long as a penetrating hit is achieved. I haven't seen anything stating that no role to hit is required a...

Re: New Tau Codex Rumors

As obvious as it is, that actually escaped me! Perhaps Broadsides would re-roll penetrating hits, or even fire *gasp* TWO shots? I won't go any further into possiblities, because some may misconstrue (spelling?) simple rule discussions for wishlisting, so unless someone higher-up okays it, pl...

Re: Flechette Discharger(s) in a Piranha squadron

Given the wording of the FD, I have to agree with them all firing if even one vehicle is contacted. You've paid for the vehicle to have a self defense mechanism, so why should you not get the defense when it is attacked? After all, if CAN be damaged by the attack when not itself contacted. The rule ...

Re: [Tactica] Armored Interdiction Cadre: the all-vehicle army

Oh, I just found my next army... :crafty: I'm always interested in playing forces that are interesting and different to play with, take my thousand sons force, they are not played like your usual Space marine/chaos force, highly specialised and can be very difficult to use due to the very high cost ...

nice work on your conversions here mate, awesome Obliterators and I love the idea of that hound creature, looking forward to seeing that finished!
Your painting certainly captures the nurgle essence of the figures too! :)

Keep it up mate, look forward to seeing more.

wow, more responses than I expected in such a short time! I'll thank you all and attempt to answer the questions :) OK, so here goes: Kern - definitely try the tute again, and again if necessary, or look up wet blending tutes from other people as it's not a particularly easy thing to explain t...

Re: New Tau Army

They look great Matt, I wish I have the patients to paint up that many firewarriors in one go!

With the gloss look, get yourself some Testor's Dull Coat and spray that over the top, its a second varnish so won't hurt your model's toughness against chips, but does kill sheen dead!

Re: WIP (Weathered) Farsight Cadre

Great work Jord, I really think the extra level of highlights has brought it "in line" as it was... The fact that you have highlighted the suit to the level of the basic red of the rest of the army means that the eye now sees them as a coherent part of the force, the same colour is used, e...
