Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Compensation indicates that something was received in exchange for loss, but a single increase against two single decreases results in a net loss. Slightly improved characteristics do not account for the loss of a defining tactical mechanic as well as seeing comparative point increases out of propor...

Re: The Mirror Blade Cadres (M.A.R.S. Pattern)

*Sorry for the short post, did some late night scribbling and wanted to get it posted. Will finish tomorrow.* Night One 0027 a.m. Imperial Standard “… and we came unprepared. Re: The Mirror Blade Cadres (M.A.R.S. Pattern)

What would you suggest as the second support system on the Riptide?

I'll modify the list and see if I can streamline it some more to accommodate your suggestions.

My next update should hopefully have some pictures of my upscale battlesuit models!

Re: The Mirror Blade Cadres (M.A.R.S. Pattern)

Thanks for the response. The drone controllers on the Y'vahra and Coldstar are just meant to make sure that if the Coldstar leaves the group to go elsewhere, all the Y'vahras drones continue to get their bonus. I find this useful because at times, I might deploy the Coldstar elsewhere, or boost him ...

M.A.R.S. Pattern Cadre Composition

The M.A.R.S. Pattern Cadre The Mobile Armored Response and Support Pattern Cadre was originally developed as stop-gap measure for the Enclaves in response to falling manpower in standard cadres, specifically special operations units. Often deployed beyond traditional borders, the ability to reinfor...

The Mirror Blade Cadres (M.A.R.S. Pattern)

Regardless of whether there are many games in my future, I have decided to commit to continue the modelling and lore building sides of my beloved Tau, because it is just too enjoyable. That said, this log will contain the history of my cadre, any fiction pertaining to it, modelling logs and pictures...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Hey it looks like this topic is indeed dear to many hearts, as well as not universally agreed on. Let me address a few of the counterpoints. Jump-Shoot-Jump is neither a tactical, skillful nor complex mechanic. It's an easy-to-learn, easy-to-master, all-upside mechanic with mediocre depth and as of ...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Thanks for the input. Any tips on how one might submit something to GW? I don't really know how I would go about that.

An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

***I was not sure where to post this, or even if it has a place here. I'll remove it if so*** An Appeal for the Return of Jump-Shoot-Jump Games Workshop won't ever see this, but I had to say it. The future of the Tau faction is at a turning point for me. While I approve of most of the 8th edition ru...

Re: New idea - Stealth'o?

I disagree, BoomWolf, with your last point. The XV8 has a significantly higher power output, obviated by its ability to support more weapons, systems and weapons. And while the Ghostkeel requires drones, note that it's mass is closer to a Riptide. The drones invariably mask issues not present in the...

Re: When Shadows No Longer Slumber{Chapt Dos: In Nights Embrace}

:Chapter Two:In Nights Embrace Twilight had eased over the city like a stifling blanket, and pure darkness had engulfed the streets soon after as clouds hid the moon. Light rain soon followed, and Kit'yin moved across shadows like a phantom. His personal stealth frame was a prototype much like his ...

When Shadows No Longer Slumber{Chapter Uno}

Shas'vre'O Kit'yin shoveled food from his pack into his mouth in a steady but calm pace, perched in the open cockpit of his warframe. The modified XV95 and its drones idled at minimum power, just enough to feed their stealth generators into overdrive. Anchored to the steep tower jutting out of the G...

Re: Fluff Reasons for Low Tau and Kroot Stats

Kroot within the Tau Empire are still genetically guided by Shapers, but the practice is "frowned upon" by the larger empire. Thus the ability to feed on fresh foes immediately after battle is probably largely lost. I imagine it more as a practice that occurs behind closed doors. Alternati...

Re: Xeones' Shadowsun Counts-as Conversion

You are always permitted to increase the size of your models base, you are never allowed to decrease the size of you models base. I really like the conversion, its a fantastic use of bits. My only suggestion, if the parts can be reworked at all, would be to try for a more dynamic pose. I simply cant...

Re: Fluff Reasons for Low Tau Stats

Our own codex has specifically stated that Tau eyes are weaker and less reactive than human eyes, notably when referring to pilots, mentioning that Tau depth perception is significantly less effective than their human pilot counterparts. -WS: Many good points here. One thing to keep in mind is that ...

Re: TAU RUMOURS... P26 pics of new models!

Looking at the pictures it appears to have a standard battlesuit head, identical to the Riptide. Someone also referred to it as a vehicle, which further confused me.

Re: TAU RUMOURS... P26 pics of new models!

Can we specify which suit is being described as "open-topped"?
Are you referring to the Stormsurge? The pictures of it in its reveal very clearly show it as a Gargantuan Creature with a toughness value.

Re: Experimental Tau Campaign Codex Additions (House Rules)

I second that the Ways of War rule is awesome, and gives Tau a way to really make their army feel "Tau-y". They should have a little more "umph" to them, and a point cost. The Ways of War - No Force Org Slot- 0-1 selections per army. You do not have to reveal this selection or po...
