Re: What's the best support systems for a stormsurge?

What about the Counterfire Defense System? Rerolling misses during Overwatch with the amount of shots the Stormsurge has proven itself to me to be a powerful tool. Certainly more situational than the others but still something that I think has its place.

Re: [ATT Recommended] 500pt list help

If you are looking for female Tau models to make a fireblade, I'd check out Wargames Exclusive , which is a site that sells Tau model knockoffs. There are a lot of really interesting options. There are also a lot of half-naked options, so be warned. To answer some of the earlier questions about 'can...

Re: How will you use Shield Drones, post-FAQ?

As a note, a 4++/5+++ is effectively a 3+ (that you always get). So they are decent at holding objectives, but don't have the resilience against small arms that even something like stealth suits have (albeit they are cheaper).

Re: Making a Brigade

I'd much rather spend 495 points for three somewhat useful units to fill those slots than taking three mostly useless units for 162 points. CP have great value but gimping your army in order to get them won't do. I don't have a fundamental disagreement with your general point. Certainly Broadsides ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

If anyone's interested, the armies that are mentioned in the First Strike starter set (beyond marines and death guard) are the Astra Militarum, AdMech, Knights, Craftworlds, Drukhari, Orks, Necrons, Tyranids (and Gene Cult) and Tau. So that gives, I think, some indication of the next Codexes GW has ...

Making a Brigade

After playing about a dozen games of 8th ed at 2000 points against a variety of opponents (Space Wolves, Slaanesh, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, Tzeentch, to name a few), I've begun to feel that getting as many command points as possible is one of the most powerful ways to win in 8th edition. As such, I've ...

This thread is getting ... uncivil. If you all wish to keep discussing the merits of various understrength units, fine. If you want to keep lambasting each other, do it elsewhere.

Re: New 8th FAQ

So they want out money for a FW index, from which most ppl use 1 or 2 unit max, and then say this.... pfff As long as I get the rules, I'm not super mad. I have lots of knarlocs and great knarlocs. I want to use them. I want my Tau all cavalry list! Also, I'm going to have to experiment with Tigers...

Re: New 8th FAQ

I'm going to ask that we table this discussion for now, given that it's not going anywhere. What I recommend is that, within everyone's respective gaming groups, get a general consensus and use that. If one is participating at a tournament, email the TO ahead of time to get an official ruling on the...

Re: 8th Ed FORGEWORLD Tau

The biggest benefit of Remoras, which I've been exploring, is that they are BS 4+ native and can benefit from a drone controller. Them combined with a Coldstar is a lot of 3+ or better shooting, and with 5 markerlights, BS 2+ re-rolling ones. This combo makes taking seekers worth it, as it's basical...

Re: FAQ UPDATE: ATS now a must include on Suits?

I'd still prefer markerlights. 1 pathfinder or marker drone can give the same benefit to not only the commander, but the entire manta drop that needs to put out a lot of damage quickly. If you did an analysis of a unit by unit PPW one dependent and one independent i'd like to see that. You would ha...

Re: FAQ UPDATE: ATS now a must include on Suits?

HOWEVER. What about a multi-tracker? Sure, markerlights ain't your thing any more, but the added accuracy compared to the cost makes it actually cost-effiecent on them unlike the ATS. Actually...I wonder how many other suits consider it cost-efficent in order to drop the marker-light need. Maybe ev...

Re: Tau 8th ed. mathammer tables

Would it make more sense to have, instead of 'cover' and 'hard to hit' a general way to modify the 'to hit', 'to wound' rolls and saves? Simply allowing for a shift where you can get +/-1 (2, etc) to hitting, wounding and saving, rather than each specific scenario. I understand that this is essentia...

Re: 8th edition crisis suits

Sort of? I was just thinking about the math between a commander and crisis suits regarding markerlights. At 1 markerlight, a commander goes from hitting 30/36 (5/6) of the time to 35/36 of the time. A crisis suit goes from hitting 6/12 times to 7/12 times. Even with the +1 to hit (five markerlights)...
