Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I'll let you guys know what our rail weapons change (or don't!) to after this weekend when I talk with some of the playtesters. They may have some insight as to where stuff ended up. Too too The Leaktrain is coming. :D Haha, I wouldn't go that far but I will definitely be among those who at least p...

Re: Starting an Army

It's 250 british pounds for free shipping from FW, not 250 american dollars. That amounts to about 400 USD.

Cheers!

Re: Rules and helper parts for playing apocalypse

Another rule we'll be testing is treating all phases like the fight phase: activating units one at a time. It sounds counter-intuitive, but it might actually speed up the game since you won't get to shoot with all your units at the end of the round. That sounds like an interesting change. Will ther...

Re: Rules and helper parts for playing apocalypse

I think homebrew rules can speed up the game much more than just playing with the current rules, which are optimized for skirmishes and small sized games (up to 2k). I've actually never played a HUGE game myself. I only have 9k points worth of units, and since I am the one that has the most models ...

Re: Rules and helper parts for playing apocalypse

If you feel that way, fine. But not everyone has that much time on their hands, or patience for that matter. The 2 apocalypse games that I've played so far, people decided to quit after turn 2 simply because they wanted to go home. We really want to fight huge battles with all our models, but the g...

Re: Tiger sharks vs titans

Remember that Seekers hit on 6s unless they have Markerlight support, in which case they basically auto-hit (2+ re-rolling). So a Tigershark will never fire its Seekers without its HRCs also re-rolling ones, etc. Also, it just occurred to me, in an Apocalypse game Titans are basically invincible as...

Re: Tiger sharks vs titans

Honestly, if one is trying to compare the Tigershark, I'm more interested in a more direct equivalent, the Shadowsword (a Baneblade variant). It has a Heavy 3D3 gun for 2D6 damage each, hits a Titan on a re-rolled 4+ while wounding Titans slightly worse (and has 4 lascannons). All for four PL less t...

Re: Tau Command/Rank Structure

Support networks is where you start getting into the realms of other Tau castes. The Fire Caste might be the ones fighting the actual battles on the ground, but they're not the only caste involved in military operations. Generally Tau warfare is a species-wide effort, with elements from all castes ...

You guys aren't seeing it? It's still up on the Warhammer Community page in Japan though. Here's a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/IER2vTi.png Oh god, I'm sick stop making me laugh.... Re: Tau Command/Rank Structure

I love this thread and I'll add some points of my own. In the original Apocalypse book from 2007, it notes the commander of an Armoured Interdiction Cadre as 'Shas'o Vionca Tau'er Daus' and has the note 'Crew within Command vehicles are believed to be of rank Shas'el and above." So the corrobor...

Re: Paying noon for Mortal Wounds.

Hilariously enough, spore mines are one of those things that I find totally ineffective against Tau. It's not because they aren't dangerous, it's because we have enough odd firepower to deal with them. Gun drones on tanks, for example, work wonders. Each pulse carbine can target a separate mine, so ...

Re: [Article Submission] The Y'Vahra - A tactica

This is looking good. I edited out the actual stats, because that violates GW IP. In this case, talking about the stats is something like, "The Y'vahra can only shoot as well as a fire warrior, and it degrades to the shooting of a drone when it loses more than half its wounds." There's no...

Re: Reinventing the Fish of Fury: Tau at 2000 points

Hey! I'm glad to see someone tackling this list. A couple of thoughts: Thanks for your comments! I'll tackle them sequentially. Pathfinders: The main reason they are in the Devilfish is to protect them first turn. My meta has a lot of variable deployment things, fast movers and in general ways to k...

Reinventing the Fish of Fury: Tau at 2000 points

Over the past several weeks, I've been working on re-working the old concept of the Fish of Fury to the new edition. I'm putting this in Cadre Building rather than Tau Tactics because it will focus around a specific build. The essential idea of the Fish of Fury is a Devilfish unloading its contents ...
