Re: The run to 8th edition

Abut the Stormsurge staying base 4+ to hit in shooting (without stabilizers) is worrying. That's the same of BS3, which the SS already has. Why is it worrying? Markerlights don't seem to add to BS anymore, but seem more involved with re-rolling. It's based on supposition, but based on what we have ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

A few things that really stand out from my read-through of some of the leaked core rules: Move-Advance-Shoot is still possible if you have an Assault weapon, but your accuracy drops. Too early to say for Tau, but the Stormsurge staying base 4+ to hit in shooting (without stabilizers) is worrying. Ov...

Re: The run to 8th edition

You seem to be operating under an odd understanding of how damage works in the new WH40k. Damage never applies across models - if your attack deals DX damage, it can only ever do damage to a single model. The one large blast we've seen does 1d6 hits and 1d3 damage - the Battlecannon, which should be...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Take a look at Leman Russ' battle canon and will be obvious, that Nova Charged Ion well be D6 hits with D3 damage, without any known ordance bonus (for now). Technically, the Battle Cannon is Heavy D6, which means it gets a D6 shots (not all of which are likely to hit). The Nova Charged Ion Acceler...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I would bet Tau dollars that this is how fusion will work. Removing the "half range" thing is a great way to speed up the game (no more measuring to check). It also translates better into causing wounds on the target since everything has wounds. Melta is supposed to be able to destroy tan...

Re: The run to 8th edition

While the Wailing Doom doesn't need to be within half-range, that isn't the only melta weapon that has been previewed. The Combi-melta still requires the target to be within half range to get two dice rolled. Between the two examples, it seems very probable that our standard fusion blasters will beh...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Also where's the hit to our Fusion Suits? 9" is our Melta range. :P I think you brainfarted? We're forced to arrive at least 9" away, which means we will not be in melta range. Dunno how you play in your group but we measure from base to base and when you are 9" away you are still wi...

Re: The run to 8th edition

One notable nerf that Longshot Pulse Rifles got was the loss of the Sniper special rule's "on to-wound rolls of 6, the wound becomes AP2". Something nifty that was pointed out to me was the wording used for Markerlights in the article: . . . which works great when paired with one Markerlig...

Re: The run to 8th edition

It is possible that chrono-anomaly due to warp-rift is involved as well. It is a cheap excuese but still First thing I thought of as well. It's really one of the few ways you could make the Tau Empire even remotely relevant on a galactic scale as more than a single flea chewing on a distracted bull...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Aeldari focus article is up.

The Wailing Doom is is pretty much exactly what you'd expect it to be: a meltagun in shooting and a meltagun when wielded.

If its any indication, it bodes well for the Fusion Blades!
