Re: Longstrike might not buff himself!

Is the argument really that it isn't bold therefore you can't tell what the rule actually does? Not quite. The argument is that it isn't bolded, and so does not reference a keyword, but instead references a datasheet unit name. That seems facially wrong on intent and raw, but that's why the AoS off...

Re: Let's Talk Ghostkeels!

Aside from what everyone else has mentioned, ATT rules forbid putting individual point costs for models and wargear choices, as that violates GW IP and can cause the site major issues. Probably best to edit out the point costs and discuss them relatively (for a few more points than X, you can take a...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves with possible Sept abilities- Imperial Fists now ignore cover and get re-rolls against buildings. Don't expect dramatically-powerful abilities, but rather small perks. If Tau just got half of the Salamanders' perk (maybe re-roll one hit per unit per...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

Absolutely, and as I mentioned myself in that post, under the right circumstances the sacrifice is totally worth it. But its always worth counting the costs of sacrifice, to make sure you end up gaining more than you lose. Pathfinders have the worst potential exchange for the protection received of ...

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

I don't understand why people keep telling me that the Salamander Chapter tactic is actually quite strong when I even say it is strong. I mean you guys even quote me....do you kinda forget what I wrote halfway through my post? :D Actually, I was disagreeing with the statement that the Salamander Ch...

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

As a Salamanders Army I'm guessing the meltas they are going to throw around will likely reroll the damage with CP's since they don't need to reroll anything else in the shooting phase. Talk about scary. They already get to reroll damage inside Melta range as part of the normal Melta rule. Incorrec...

Re: Longstrike might not buff himself!

Forgeworld FAQ updated keywords for experimental hammerheads to have the plain keyword, HAMMERHEAD. Everything as intended screams at Longstrike's Aura being usable on himself. Everything except a fairly clear and convincing argument of intention through parallels to AoS rules and their official in...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

Drones are viable ablative wounds, as always, and often well worth killing in the place of a Rail Rifle pathfinder... but that's going to get very expensive in Drones very quickly. First, the enemy is targeting the pathfinder, so the pathfinder's Toughness is the one used for wounding purposes. Woun...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

So I just realized something that worries me a bit about our upcoming Codex, particularly as it relates to what used to be effectively its own faction with its own unique set of relics... Yes, I'm talking about the Farsight Enclaves. Given what we've been told regarding the SM Codex, specifically th...

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

Salamander CT is strong indeed, but very lame compared to Raven Guard, Ultramarine and White Scars...but then again so are the others. Guess there is only so much one can do with Chapter Tactics to change how an army plays. I wouldn't be so sure about that. This means that EVERY unit (infantry, dre...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

I find it odd how much work people are expecting a relatively cheap upgrade gun (with up to two 8/-1/d3 damage shots! Only 1 damage from the Ion rifle whereas the rail rifle DOES get d3 and a potential to get another MW and isn't hindered by movement. Again, my flavor of playstyle benefits my use o...

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

Salamander CT is extremely potent for MSU squads, and particularly for Dreadnoughts and Veteran Dreadnoughts. It isn't useful at all for infantry-clearing - too bad SM don't have any units at all that can do that with even a modicum of efficiency. Biggest winners, IMO, would be Devastator Squ...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

Ion Rifles are glass cannons - cheap for what they bring, die to a stiff wind vaguely blowing in their direction, and with surprising amounts of firepower. Rail Rifles have better firepower against most targets and, for their point cost, are even more delicate. I like Rail Rifles for their style, bu...

Re: Retooling the Ghostkeel: My request to GW

Yes. So far all models with 10+ wounds have the table and 10 wounds also is the threshold for characters for being targetable by anyone. The former isn't a hard and fast rule (they even introduced a Daemon Prince with 10 wounds that didn't have a damage table, didn't they? Granted, it was later cha...

Re: Sniper Teams?

add the Sniper rule for the Rail Rifle (call it high precision Rail Rifle or whatever) and you're good. I think in the case of a sniper team, the models should have the "sniper" rule, not the weapon itself. The spotters w/ Markerlights should be able to hit characters too. In 8th the weap...

Re: Retooling the Ghostkeel: My request to GW

Some notes from myself: - 10 wounds. That's really the worst amount of wounds a model can have. It gives it the table but it doesn't make the model that much more durable than a 9 wound one. If you ask me then a 10 wound model should cost less than a 9 wound model with the same stats. Possible solu...

Re: Sniper Teams?

Welcome to the Greater Good! When it comes to custom datasheets for homebrew models/rules, ATT is somewhat restricted in terms of what you can post (moreso than many other sites with "Proposed Rules" or "House Rules" subforums). You'll generally want to have the following three t...
