Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

In my mind, the question is not the quantity of the submissions GW gets elsewhere, but the quality of the submission when it is representative (or intended to be representative) of A.T.T.'s combined efforts. Just to clarify, "biased and misleading" was concerning appearances: I think we're...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

... I feel its necessary to reconsider where we're coming from, what we're trying to accomplish, and the best method to do so. Right now, we have focused on being Concise, which as has been mentioned is an important element to getting a GW response. AN important element, but there seems to be a vein...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

I'm glad you raised the suggested points of the SMS, as 10 points is basically a Better Burst Cannon in Every Way (and I'd say BCs are reasonably priced as is). It definitely deserves to be far lower (13 may well be right, thought my gut suggests it might be a bit too cheap?), but again I'm having i...

Re: So about those Riptide Wings...

Eh, there were still enough prototype XV-22s in the Warzone: Damocles books that "Shadowsun" was able to appear across multiple battlefields simultaneously. That suggests to me they're still in production. I could see a Coldstar-suit Farsight and a Ghostkeel-suit Shadowsun (maybe), but I t...

Re: New bits for tau hammerhead

MN Gamer - This the Apocalypse sprue that came out with the Apocalypse supplement between 4th and 5th edition. There is (or was) definite rule sets for each army's vehicle upgrade. Basically the Tau upgrade turned your Devilfish/Hammer Head/Skyray into a command vehicle. Each Apocalypse formations ...

Re: Let's Contact GW! (Round 2)

I'm not understanding why an anti-heavy-infantry weapon like the Rail Rifle is being compared to an anti-vehicle weapon like the Lascannon on their relative ability to kill vehicles. They cost the same points, but so do a lot of weapons that have very different roles. There are far, far better compa...

Re: Sniper Teams?

Looks interesting, and the weaponry is fiercesome... but the low T/Sv means each expensive weapon is a shattered-glass-jaw away from being removed from the tabletop. I would boost the movement speed back up to 6", unless the unit is weighed down significantly or a slower species in general - Mo...

Re: Beam Swords on suits

Plasma is superheated gas though, can't really make that a blade, lol. The idea was to make a weaker, more standard equipment melee weapon readily available to all suits. I love me some fusion blades though, commander brightsword is my favorite. Lightsabers. I'm making a lightsaber. Eisenstein had ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

we have what I consider strong evidence that GW is taking that into consideration when looking at the Salamanders and Raven Guard - two SM chapters with only a single Special Character each (and both of which have limited buffing potential) that got arguably the strongest Chapter Tactics to the poi...

Re: Beam Swords on suits

If you're gonna have a Beam Sword, I'd recommend A) limiting their number, and B) making the blade highly experimental (it's where you find just about every CQC weapon the T'au have). I, for one, plan to make a Farsight-equivalent that uses a Plasma Blade (think Fusion Blade), as that is a natural p...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Edit: My utmost apologies to Khayman for my overly aggressive (IMO) response. I just finished the bar exam, and my self-control is a bit limited. Suffice to say that, yes, it is easily possible that 3 buffs can be less potent than a single buff, and we have what I consider strong evidence that GW is...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Today I learned it is not the quality of the buffs that matters in the slightest, but the quantity of buffs. Fascinating.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

And, to be honest, I'm kind of shocked that T'au players would consider sept exclusive character buffs as being a good thing. I can't think of a single reason why anyone, including fluff fanatics, would cheer for that. Hey, I'm a hammerhead pilot hovering next to Longstrike, the greatest hammerhead...

Re: How will you use Shield Drones, post-FAQ?

The Leadership won't often be an issue if you're going MSU, but a large Drone squad easily can and would take significant casualties if you don't mitigate leadership in some way (a 12 man squad, for example, is going to lose an average of 3 or 4 models if you manage to kill off just half of them). ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Named Dude presence is easily mitigated by making the mechanics fit a new character of your own, or attributing the bonus to experimental technology. My Longstrike, for example, doesn't have Longstrike at all - instead, when Longstrike is taken, its the result of a Fire Warrior Commander testing out...

Re: Longstrike might not buff himself!

Is the argument really that it isn't bold therefore you can't tell what the rule actually does? Not quite. The argument is that it isn't bolded, and so does not reference a keyword, but instead references a datasheet unit name. That seems facially wrong on intent and raw, but that's why the AoS off...
