Re: Tau Battlesuit Neural Interface - how does it work?

When Tau take on space hulks, they have a heavy flight suit, capable of ejecting the pilot capsule in emergencies. Obviously this capsule, capable of independent flight, won't be the same as the Crisis piloting capsule, but maybe they use a similar interface. Or maybe the air caste pilot them, and h...

Re: Tau Battlesuit Neural Interface - how does it work?

I gotta say, this thread keeps making me look for the 'like' button. I'm experiencing phantom pain from the removal of my like button.

Re: Tau Battlesuit Neural Interface - how does it work?

I hail from Chch myself - my army is currently boxed up on the bottom shelf because of the aftershocks we're having! I recall a piece about 'suit pilots having something like phantom limb just from being out of the suit. It had become such an intuitive part of their self, that its absence left their...

Re: Tau Battlesuit Neural Interface - how does it work?

Wow, that's really cool. We're living in the future. I do wonder about all these fancy gadgets, and how they'd stand up on a battlefield. Like, sensitive gear is fine in an aeroplane because if it takes significant damage, it either retreats or crashes. Whereas a Crisis suit canonically can take a f...

Re: Tau Battlesuit Neural Interface - how does it work?

I think the neural activity that goes into targeting and firing is actually counterproductive . That is, the machine can do it much better, especially when it's networked into the combat space simulation, markerlight data, Hunter Contingent battle matrix, and so on. Simple target selection and the o...

Re: Are eldar superior or am I missing something?

If this your plan, place the objectives in the open so the murdering is a bit easier. You won't have all the markerlights you need, so strip those cover saves during game setup ;)

Drone Controller - all drones in the model's unit use their BS. Not a huge thing, I know, but if you love Gun Drones, why not give them all BS5?

Welcome to ATT. I think there is no drink that cannot be improved with the addition of limes... or DANGER!

I suppose you've seen the amazing Tron themes some people are doing?

Re: Stealth suits and optimised stealth cadre

The question remains, should you already take the tax for the formation, is it not beneficial to spend a bit more in order to improve upon them? The Stealth Teams aren't the only thing in your army, and they aren't the only thing you can upgrade. The question isn't "I have this one squad; shou...

Re: Feeding Frenzy-1850 Piranha School

Drones are non-scoring (Codex, p.119) - which means they can't contest objectives either (BRB, p.134).

To advance under fire, I would rearrange a couple of Piranha squadrons to get 5 in one squadron for the largest drone squadrons you can. Min-maxing ftw!

Re: Feeding Frenzy-1850 Piranha School

I'm wondering what the homing beacons are for. Sure, you can deep strike the drones, but I don't think 52 points of high-intensity flashlights is much of a bomb to drop. Marker drones don't suffer cover saves, so there's less reason to need them in close support of the Piranhas. I'm guessing the Eth...

Re: Piranha TX-42: To Overcosted to be Effective?

My point is that points inefficiency, in this case, is good game design. Consider the alternative, where ($expensive!) Forge World models are worth taking - more powerful models that not everyone has access to, giving new capabilities, and points efficient. This would be even worse than the current ...

Re: Piranha TX-42: To Overcosted to be Effective?

Yes, way overcosted. I think this is the appropriate way for them to do Forge World stuff - you can take the cool models if you want, and they have better stats than standard models, but they're not points efficient. For 80-90 points, you can get a Broadside plus XV8, or two normal Piranhas with FB,...

Re: Are eldar superior or am I missing something?

It's really good that you recognise that you don't know why you're winning! Too many people win and think 'ok, everything I did was good, nothing to learn here.' When you are able to make sense of all the (massive, complicated) interactions going on, you will be better able to notice mistakes even i...

If it says (drone) in its unit type. Snipers, yes, but their Fire...spotter...guy... means they will be BS5, not BS5+1 (see 'Multiple Modifiers' in BRB p. 8).

Also, no they do not stack. BRB says that the same rule cannot be applied to the same model/unit more than once.

Re: Are eldar superior or am I missing something?

Eldar are considered pretty superior at them moment. That doesn't mean a whole lot; you're not going to be playing GT-level players, so there's still plenty of scope to outplay them. Tau, Necrons, and Eldar are considered top tier along with certain SM builds (WOLVES EVERYWHERE OMG THE JAWS). But ag...
