Re: Ukrainian battlesuits

I quite like the look of the CIB version, but as Draco suggested I'm looking at removing the front mounted head, plating in the gap, and mounting a head up top, which will give it a more vertical profile. The idea of using them as XV-9s is intriguing, but I'll have to look at the size; I already hav...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The two cases could be combined; a table with universal benefits, but you can also burn hits (reducing the table benefits) to give a single unit boost

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Just to throw out a counter-gloom Pollyanna idea...what if the reason they have our codex so late is that they've made it so good that they expect everyone to start playing Tau as soon as it releases, so get the sales for the other armies knocked out first? :D I don't really expect that, but it's ju...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Anyone reckon the Blacksun Filter might return? It would be situational but really handy when the need arises. Ignore the Dead of the Night-twist as well :P And is something that would distinguish Tau from other "lower-tech" shooty armies like IG. There is no more night fighting, but I th...

Re: Is it Still a Strike Team with Pulse Carbines?

I do recall that the XV designation was a phonetic misunderstanding of the original Tau term, which translated as "Hero's Mantle", though I don't recall the actual term; something along the lines of "Heks vre" (all my books are back in CONUS, so I cant look it up) Given the Tau h...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I'd be fine with both profiles, but I like the latter because its more akin to the fluff. The fluff for the submunitions is essentially a giant blunderbuss. It fires shrapnel in a sort of cone as far as I can understand, so the halved range would make a lot of sense since a spread shot like that is...

Re: Do the Tau make use of wheels anywhere?

I would expect Tau to use wheels when they make more sense, just as we do now. While we see extensive use of gravity manipulation tech, we see it in context of the military, where the cost/benefit ratio may well be skewed; the advantages of using it for combat operations outweigh the cost of constru...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Sorry, but I can't follow your reasoning. Many people were hoping for a revamp of the current markerlight table. But instead GW puts out a stratagem to enforce the current table. I don't think they would introduce this stratagem and also rewrite the table or lower the hurdles to get the most wanted...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The markerlight stratagem tells me the current table and overall mechanics will stay. I don't await them write such a rule just to invalidate it 3-5 months later. And if they'd plannes to do so then CA could have offered more changes for T'au. Btw, I love the german title for Chapter Approved: In N...

Re: Firebade volley rule double check

Just don't build a list with nothing else than Drones. They are a supposed to support the Fire Caste, not to replace them. ;) that's exacly what I intend to do with my cadre fluff though, unless drones become much worse then fire warriors in codex, you know, save T'au lives, use suits and drones! Re: Flying with Miniatures

Based on my experiences; 1) make sure the minis fit the slots well; I'd suggest gently pad with tissue to reduce excess movement. (it also helps keep anything that breaks off together with the mini it comes from). Your case will likely be on its side for a considerable period, so models may need ext...

Honestly, this thread doesn't need to even be a thing. Y'all are getting whipped up into a fury over nothing :P the people who helped test the game have said time and time again that the current "meta" is changing and we don't know how things are going to be a week or two down the line. T...

I'm just going to point out that this is starting to devolve into wishlisting, which is a big "No, No" under forum rules. If all y'all don't want to get this locked consider carefully what you're posting. (Plausible) Speculation on what will be in it is fine (e.g. Points fixes, what the ne...

Re: Using Magnetic Tape on XV8s

I have looked at it in the past for speed and ease of application. My observations: 1) As Gragagrogog pointed out, it's far weaker than convential magnets. I would not rely on it to hold the weight of most guns on the arms but on the shoulders it's not fighting gravity as much so could work there. 2...

Re: XV9 Hazard Support Team - 8th ed. discussion

I have 3 XV9 with burst cannon, 2 with Fusion Cascades, 1 with Ion, and of course O'Ralai, My default 2k list includes the 3 with burst cannon (the Black Howling) and CDS as a screening unit. Last time I fielded them was I think 5th Ed; They did a good job, but just weren't as cost effective back then

Re: Forge World tau Index FAQ help

I'd want to ask; Should the XV-9 be T6, like Ralai? Reasoning: Originally the XV-9 were +1T over the XV-8. Now they are listed with the same T but more wounds. O'Ralai, built on an XV-9 chassis, has +1T still, and the extra wounds. If the intent was to simulate the increased durability with wounds i...
