Re: Subtle Conversions: Tau Expeditionary Force

Those all look amazing. Well done!

For stripping paint, I use a product called Simple Green. It's non-toxic and doesn't damage the plastic. I've left models submerged for weeks or months (due to laziness, it only takes a day or two to loosen up the paint), and it only takes the paint off.

Re: Miond's experimentals

I agree with the comments already posted. It's funny, I didn't consciously realize why I didn't like the original Sunshark model, but as soon as I saw your modified nose, it's pretty clear. Your version is, in my mind, a significant improvement.

Well done!

Since they are giving this a model designation, does this mean they are keeping the old one, too? Like with the Tigershark and the AX-1-0?

That looks really neat! It reminds of some conversions I did a while back.

And that...roof?...is not without precedent. Pathfinder Tetras have that and more.

Re: Barracuda using Devilfish parts

Hindsight is 20/20 and the answer to your question is, in a word, "yes". The one thing that I am regretting is related to that. If you look in the last picture I posted, you can see the problem I am having with the underside. When I was building the "core" I used plasticard for t...

Re: EX-30 Pilotfish [dial-up users beware: about 30 pictures]

I also love the orange (test) paint on the pilotfish. A throwback/homage to all the florescent paint apply to x-planes? That is exactly what I was going for. Like the tilt-wing model at the top of the thread with the bare metal and orange highlight for visual cues, I wanted to invoke the feeling th...

Re: Barracuda using Devilfish parts

Over the holidays the cold/flu season visited the House of Hazmatt, so I haven't made a lot of progress on this. It's becoming more and more clear that my skill with Green Stuff will be the difference between success and failure, so I hope I can level up my Green Stuff Ability quickly. The ion canno...

Re: Icki's Cadre - Painting Log

As you can see, the biggest problem is the final undercoat. I scanned the pictures before reading your post and I was going to compliment you on your shading and weathering technique. Maybe they look different in person, but I think if you painted the pilots/cockpit area and maybe some de...

Re: Barracuda using Devilfish parts

add more plasticard between the overhead part of the engine and the underside part of the engine, a 5mm piece of card should suffice. I heartily agree, bigger looks much better: http://www.absynthium.org/wh40k/images/tau/barracuda/tn_dscf3157.jpg OK, now it is opinion time. On the top of the normal...

I assure you, I am quite mad, and for reasons that have nothing to do with 40K. :crafty: The wings are on now: http://www.absynthium.org/wh40k/images/tau/barracuda/tn_dscf3149.jpg http://www.absynthium.org/wh40k/images/tau/barracuda/tn_dscf3156.jpg I couldn't find any pictures of the ventral side of...

Barracuda using Devilfish parts

I've been looking to bring more firepower to my cadre as the people I play with keep upping the ante . But since I lack the funds to buy everything I want from Forgeworld, I have decided that I should be able to build my own. My first attempt will be a Barracuda. I don't have the skill or patience t...

Re: Hello everyone! Here's some air caste

As mentioned before, the painting is excellent. I hope someday to be able to paint at least half as well.

I have to say, though, my first thought was, "Ack! Those poor Air Caste guys, having to walk around planetside on actual DIRT and ROCKS. I hope they get airborne soon."

Re: Project- Terrace Farm Terrain

I have purchased a lot of terrain from War Zone and it seems similar to what you are describing. This kind of stuff works well for 40K. Hopefully you have a hot wire to contour the edges. I know what I work on stuff like this I am always my own worst critic, so don't worry about getting the edges &q...

Re: The making of kings: Vicard's converted Ethereal. Pic heavy!

The Ethereal is looking great. I like the use of the different bitz and you have combined them in a way that looks perfectly natural. I can see where people would get a LOTR vibe from the hair, but my first thought was an old Indian chief, standing up on a ridge summoning the spirits of his ancestor...
