Re: Draaens Tau Cadre WIP

I like the color-scheme.
The first squad's color seems a bit more glossy and uneven - I kind of like this even more, since it looks a somewhat organic.

Re: Hammerhead Army

I love the model and I am certainly interested on how to best use in in 8th. But: this army has "only" 3 Hammerheads. With the new rules we are allowed to use as many as we want, using the right detachmen(s). Imagine an army were the opponent had nothing to shoot at besides Hammerheads and...

Re: The Gue'Vesa Freikorps of Paradyso

It has been quite some time - sorry for that  Count-as-Battlesuit This is pretty straight-forward: I knew (thanks to you, fellow Advanced-Tau-Tacticians) that Commanders are currently one of the two only "strong" units we have. Since the rest of this project consists of pretty weak...

Re: The Gue'Vesa Freikorps of Paradyso

Short one today: Preacher of the new Order (count-as Etheral) Backstory of this Unit: Most of the surviving inhabitants of Paradyso see the Tau as saviours. But there is always that half percent of people who... goes over the top with that. Whenever those persons prove to be charismatic, well-spoke...

Battle-r... ...note: "The Pizza-Box-Battle" Just had my first battle with this "Army". It was my second battle in 8th edition. (I stopped playing in 5th, i think?) I took three small armies of mine to a gathering of tabletop-gamers. And after playing a round of Battlestar Galact...

Gue'Vesa Ogryn-count-as-Krootox! http://www.jochenwinkler.com/content/stuff_for_forums/Gue_Vesa_Count_As_Krotox_front.JPG Backstory for this Unit If there is one thing meta-humans fear, it is an Inquisitor....

The Gue'Vesa Freikorps of Paradyso

You have seen bit's of this project here and there. Now here is the project: The Freikorps of Paradyso I started with two units you already know, and a bit of back-story. I took better pictures of the piranha. I will continue this thread with "new" material - and I hope you enjoy :) Backst...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Yes, Crisis Suits are indeed big enough to contain fire warriors as depicted in the fluff. ;) In the fluff? Yes. I suspect that GW would have loved to make the suits bigger in the first release... but did not do so out of financial reasons, habit or production limitations. The "Dreadnought&quo...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Good point  , but i think that XV8 are "fat" enough to accomodate a tau sitting in a chair, i am more worried about the stealthsuit. The stealthsuits? I never doubted these, since they seem to be build "around" a Tau's body. This is even more obvious in the first version ...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Well, to nitpick back: Have Tau crisis-suits ever been big enough to "reasonably" accomodate a tau (fire-cast) pilot? [Edit: I totally know what you mean. But since the GW crisis-suit models do not care about that, I will not care to much about that either. But I might add a back-story exp...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Ah!
Thank you for the info!

(that makes that model even more "exotic". I would like it if people did not imediatly assotiate it with a commonly used model of another fraction :-) )

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Personally, I would use a crisis suit stat line and model them however I wanted to. That is exactly what I want to do. I want to use the crisis suit stat line, but use a different model. But I want to avoid confusing my opponents. So if they are used to certain stat-lines for a certain model, I do ...

Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

I am working on a Gue'vesa Army using the Tau Rules. Since I need a commander, I want to use Thallax Cohorts to count as human-build Crisis Battlesuits. Now, it will be (relatively) easy to exchange the weapons. But I wonder: are there any other significant rule-differences between those units? The ...

Re: Seraphon for Mercs?

Well, I agree with Beerson that introducing Homebrew is difficult. It might be accepted in a narative campain where one person acts more like a RPG-like Game-Master than a player, but otherwise other player (and yourself) will always wonder if those are fair (or too weak). BUT: Luckily, people like ...

Re: Need help bringing list from 100% to 75% to make it fun.

I know most posts in this forums are about optimizing lists. "Optimizing" for winning. But, you know, "deoptimizing" is not an effort. It is just "Doing what many other players do": Choose some units because they look great. Because you like their backstory. Because you...

Re: A report from a rookie at a 80+ player 40k tournament in Sweden

I love the way you painted your army!
And your pictures make your battle-reports a pleasure to read!

Also nice that all of your opponent's armies were painted well - together with the table it really benefits your pictures :)
