Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Yes, Crisis Suits are indeed big enough to contain fire warriors as depicted in the fluff. ;) In the fluff? Yes. I suspect that GW would have loved to make the suits bigger in the first release... but did not do so out of financial reasons, habit or production limitations. The "Dreadnought&quo...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Good point  , but i think that XV8 are "fat" enough to accomodate a tau sitting in a chair, i am more worried about the stealthsuit. The stealthsuits? I never doubted these, since they seem to be build "around" a Tau's body. This is even more obvious in the first version ...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Well, to nitpick back: Have Tau crisis-suits ever been big enough to "reasonably" accomodate a tau (fire-cast) pilot? [Edit: I totally know what you mean. But since the GW crisis-suit models do not care about that, I will not care to much about that either. But I might add a back-story exp...

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Ah!
Thank you for the info!

(that makes that model even more "exotic". I would like it if people did not imediatly assotiate it with a commonly used model of another fraction :-) )

Re: Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

Personally, I would use a crisis suit stat line and model them however I wanted to. That is exactly what I want to do. I want to use the crisis suit stat line, but use a different model. But I want to avoid confusing my opponents. So if they are used to certain stat-lines for a certain model, I do ...

Thallax Cohort compared to Crisis Battlesuit ?

I am working on a Gue'vesa Army using the Tau Rules. Since I need a commander, I want to use Thallax Cohorts to count as human-build Crisis Battlesuits. Now, it will be (relatively) easy to exchange the weapons. But I wonder: are there any other significant rule-differences between those units? The ...

PS: Post pictures of your new auxiliaries!
There is too much army-lists and not enough pictures in this forum these days :P

Re: Seraphon for Mercs?

Well, I agree with Beerson that introducing Homebrew is difficult. It might be accepted in a narative campain where one person acts more like a RPG-like Game-Master than a player, but otherwise other player (and yourself) will always wonder if those are fair (or too weak). BUT: Luckily, people like ...

Re: Need help bringing list from 100% to 75% to make it fun.

I know most posts in this forums are about optimizing lists. "Optimizing" for winning. But, you know, "deoptimizing" is not an effort. It is just "Doing what many other players do": Choose some units because they look great. Because you like their backstory. Because you...

I love the way you painted your army!
And your pictures make your battle-reports a pleasure to read!

Also nice that all of your opponent's armies were painted well - together with the table it really benefits your pictures :)

Re: First time 500pt list

Hi Sloth. Welcome to ATT! This is your first army and you have not played with it yet? I am sure there will be a lot of us that can give you tips how to optimize against certain opponents, how to handle the "current meta" and how to optimize things to improve point/return value by 20 perce...

Re: Gue'vesa Scouts

I would reccomend not using the female model, as I get a lot of flack IRL for using my 'fanboy-design' shadowsun. Those models certainly look a lot...you know, I'm just not going to go there. That is actually an interesting topic. In a culture like the US or Great Britain, I imagine the "naked...

Gue'vesa Scouts

As mentioned here , I am working on a gas-masked Gue'vesa army. My speed is slow, but since I worked on several things at the same time, I finished my pathfinders. Originally I planned to used those Death-Korps of Krieg soldiers as regular Firewariors. But since their usual armor is the same as a sc...

Gue'vesa Piranha (Kitbash, pictures)

I am "working" on a group of Gue'vesa. They're based on the models for Death Korps of Krieg (and others that use gas-masks) but uses the rules for Tau. This is the first actual unit I finished. It is a combination of a "Last Exile"-Vanship, two magnetized Tau-Drones, the nozzle o...

Re: Krootox Rider

They are very good when shooting at something with markers on it. Oh, I did not notice that: they can use marker lights now :) If you have the slots consider taking them in units of 1. This will be a small army, so there will be no problem with the slots. Also there is just _one_ Ogryn-Model that I...

Krootox Rider

Good evening, everybody. I am working on a small count-as Tau army. Story-wise they should be Gue'vesa, and I try combining a few nice-looking Models. I am thinking about integrating a modified Ogryn-model too, using the rules of a Krootox Rider. Now, the Krootox Rider has been a rather obscure choi...
