Re: XV15 conversion help

You can either do so from the XV25 stealths by cutting off the cowl, clean up the chestpiece and stick on a firewarrior helmet like this: https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2905/33930026136_eca4009b15_n.jpg Or since you want an aesthetic closer to the original XV15s you could use longstrike as a base, r...

Re: Farisght: Crisis of Faith - New Farsight novel in july

I recently bought the T'au re-release/collection and have been going through the stories by release date (Fire Warrior, Kill Team and Firecaste so far), and it's interesting to see the difference in care and skill from author to author.. Dal'yth seems to have largely female leadership/envoys even am...

Re: Converting the Quad Ion Turret into Cyclic Ion Blasters?

I don't think its necessary really, the CIB is the same size as a fusion blaster, whereas the quad ion is sized similarly to ion rifles. GW uses a lot of standard dimensions and angles for the models. Affordably getting/making a lot of CIB's won't come from existing T'au sprues, you simply don't get...

Re: Converting the Quad Ion Turret into Cyclic Ion Blasters?

Sure: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4147/35728894795_df73fb8ba9_b.jpg I have glued and modded my parts already, but you can still see how they fit together, figured this was still relevant. Front half of each barrel is split, one part separate, the other is part of the rear. The four barrels are th...

Re: Converting the Quad Ion Turret into Cyclic Ion Blasters?

1. Barrels are separate pieces, they are mounted either on the fighter drones or in the quad-turret

2. They are roughly 15% smaller than the main barrel on the CIB

3. Looks quite similar, apart from missing the 'cyclic' part, nothing springs to mind for how to kitbash that part though :?

Another alternative is Flickr.com, fast and easy to use. Only bugbear is that the BBcode it hands you is way more than is needed.

Both links in my signature for examples ;) (shameless plug)

Re: Keeping Longstrike Alive

That wasn't quite what Panzer said. The drones are there to discourage deepstrike and equivalents due to the larger footprint and to make the bodyguards more resilient when targeted directly, no to pass off wounds from Longstrike via the bodyguards. Because of multidamage wounds being passed off to ...

Man that is perfect! I hope you don't mind if I steal it! I'll hit you up if I need help! Thanks so much guys, it's a holiday today where I am so now I can put off doing chores and get busy building :D Longstrike will be mad if you skip off with his ride :( His mechanic will help you make your very...

Re: [Project Log] Shas'o Dre's Farsight Enclaves Cadre

Probably mine, at least I haven't come across any similar hatchwork in the past month... There was somebody who did a conversion which I thought was pretty cool. They took part of the rails off the Ion Accelerator and glued it on the back as like a "cooling" system (with a few other modifi...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I wonder if there will be some sort of modification to Flechette Dischargers so when my Devilfish screams out "Ramming Speed!!!" it can also spit hot shrapnel at the target too :crafty: I think Flechettes will be a melee weapon for vehicles, now that they can fight i CC there's no longer ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I wonder if the Marksmen will be a new unit, maybe ICs akin to the FireBlades, or rolled into an existing unit... maybe Pathfinders?

Also, with Fall Back and two carbines (pinning should still be in in some shape or form) gundrones might be useful as screens now with kroot counter-charging instead?

Kroot camping the objectives before the game even begins - its what we do :D Barbeque and sushi? Sure, why not. Pretty sure there's a kettle in the 'fish somewhere.. rice and hot beverages should be ready by the time we get there. We'll clean up afterwards since we're late  More on topic, I k...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Just seen the shooting rules. Not much change got tau apart from not being able to shoot after "advancing" or "falling back" I assume this means any movement. Not even a snap shot :( [...] Advancing is equivalent to todays running, and falling back is when you leave melee before...

Re: Miond's experimentals (Modded Hammerhead)

Glad you like it :) Modelling has always been my main interest in the hobby and ATT is a great nexus of conversions, so it's nice to know I can inspire too  I really need to get my 'Advanced stabilisation system' back in gear though, figure out how I'm going about the painting since I've go...

Re: Miond's experimentals (Various infantry)

Well... that took a while before I got back to it. Between putting away my tau after the ATT challenge '16 (got fed up with the sanding, so much) and a bit of depression, I figured I'd do something a little smaller, less ambitious. Depression: 0 out of 10, can't recommend Pathfinder Drilled out ...

Re: Painted R'Varna Cannon has Bent

The paints are usually acrylic, which melts at ~160 celcius, so boiling water shouldn't damage the paint. The paint may be softer than usual, so you should avoid using hard tools when handling it.

Also, don't burn yourself :b

Re: A'kish Research Defence Initiative (Project Log)

If you're feeling adventorous you might also be able to find a bearing in electronics you're replacing, like an old harddrive or a mouse with freerolling scrollwheel. Being in IT I get a ton of small bits that way, tiny motors, gears, magnets etc. That said, for consistent results I'd probably still...
