Re: Do the Tau make use of wheels anywhere?

It's likely that the Tau made use of wheels and tracks in the past, but by the present time they have long switched over entirely to anti-grav related methods of propulsion. This isn't really that much of a stretch - the only real reasons why we haven't done the same are A) we haven't invented anti-...

Re: The Gue'Vesa Freikorps of Paradyso

But I would love add some more *clothed* women to the regular ranks of the Freikorps. If someone knows nice female miniatures (with gas-masks!) that might blend in with Death-Korps of Krieg minis... I would appreciate the tip. Have you considered Victoria Miniatures? Created by Golden Daemon winner...

Re: Longstrike with closed hatch?

The simplest way would be to simply add some extra antennas onto the Hammerhead turret - this is a common recognition feature of command tanks in real life. Adding some stowage to the Hammerhead could similarly distinguish it, or you could look at sourcing one of the Command Vehicle upgrade sprues r...

Re: Commander Deffblade

You can find out more about Tau language, culture and other lore-related aspects in our background subforum, the Library, along with a range of Tau fiction. The two main threads on Tau language are the Living Tau Lexicon, found here , and Tauman's Expanded Tau Lexicon, found here . Welcome to ATT. :)

Re: Are there any examples of Tau Cybernetics?

From the original 3rd edition Codex: Tau: Tau Commanders are formidable warriors, frequently sporting scars, bionics and disfigurements earned in their career. Hard-wired support systems are also a kind of cybernetics. In addition to their battlesuit systems, some Tau have support systems hard-wired...

Re: Kakapo's Cadre Redux

Just one thing, your shas'ui seems to be a shas'vre :D Ahh, only if they were a regular line Hunter Cadre. ;) As a Guards Cadre the 42nd T'au Guards make use of full-colour helmets for their Shas'Ui infantry leaders, both as a sign of their elite status and due to being exclusively made up of veter...

Re: Weekly Discussion #1: What happens to Gue'vesa once they join the Tau?

The traditional answer, from classic background lore, is that like other auxiliary species Gue'vessa are effectively considered their own caste and, like other auxiliary species, are largely left to their own devices. The Tau tend to prefer hands-off management of the auxiliaries and give the variou...

Re: New Tigershark Fighter-Bomber up for pre-order

For what it's worth, I've always had great experience with Forgeworld models. I've made more than a few purchases with them in recent history but have only ever encountered one or two serious mould defects (and even then they were either virtually unnoticeable to the untrained eye or fairly simple t...

Re: How can I buy?

While I appreciate the difficult situation described in the OP, and always like to see the tabletop hobby propagated further, I must advise caution before continuing any further here. Online commerce can be a dark and murky place, especially for a volunteer-run site such as ATT. I recommend taking a...

Re: Choosing a Paint Scheme for my Shas'ui

I like option 2 the best - the combination of both red and white panels on the third option make the colour scheme a little too chaotic at the scale of an infantry model (as opposed to larger models like battlesuits and vehicles where there's enough room to incorporate both colours in the quantity n...

Re: How to avoid identical Fireblades?

If you're wanting to give your Shas'nel a helmet, then you should know that you're likely going to have to cut off that triangular vent thing on the model's back. It is possible to just about fit a Firewarrior helmet onto the model with the vent in place, or better yet reversed, but there's almost n...

Re: Why are the Tau hated?

To the best of my knowledge, the Tau have always had difficulty finding acceptance in some circles of the 40k community. There are several aspects to the cause of this. The Tau come from a period in 40k's meta-history that is defined by both great change and great controversy. 3rd edition was alread...

Re: Making a Tau Phonetic Alphabet

We know the numbers 1-8, which correspond to the 1st-8th letters of the Tau alphabet, but we don't know which letters those actually are. Tau numbers are (from what I gather at least) typically considered to be the eight characters that appear on the first edition Tau transfer sheet, a small light ...

Re: Character Creation

Why should the named characters from GW be the only ones with detailed histories? Shas'O Kel'var has just as distinct a personality as O'Shovah, or Commander Sternshield. As someone who also enjoys tinkering with background lore just as much as, if not more than, any other part of the hobby, I whol...

Re: Concrete objectives

Warhammer 40,000 rulebooks generally contain some advice on creating your own special scenario rules, usually included as part of a hobby section towards the back, but I am unsure if this trend was continued with 8th edition. If you can find them, another great source of inspiration are old White Dw...
