Re: Ethereal enslaver theory

I doubt the Enslavers would have anything to do with the Ethereals - they're just not the Enslavers' style (the Enslaver MO typically being to latch onto psychic creatures and parasitically mutate them into a living warp portal for more Enslavers to come through and restart the process in a chain re...

Re: Crisis of faith. Red blood?

I find this very interesting, (also a little confusing) as copper, when it bonds with oxygen generally takes on a Black or Red colouration. Perhaps in the video the blood is blue due to the crabs being dead and their blood not being oxygenated, I don't know, I'm not a marine biologist, but as I say...

Re: State of T'au

Since you don't seem to be that focused on competitive play, I'd suggest not worrying too much about what the 'meta' is like and just get the models you like best. After all, rules change on the whim of the designers, but good looking models last forever.

Re: *Feedback Request*

Well, to start with, I have to say that it's certainly a better paint job than my first 40k model. :) I think my favourite part is the skin. I don't know if she did it intentionally or not, but whatever she did to paint the skin has ended up with a very nice combination of shading and lighter colour...

Re: Crisis of faith. Red blood?

Ahh the Tau blood debate, an argument as old as time itself. GW has sent... mixed messages in the past, and it's likely there is no centralised stance on certain background details like the colour of Tau blood. Phil Kelly, however, seems to have committed to red Tau blood in his writings. In fairnes...

Re: How is A sept founded how long does it take.

I can't think of any official background off the top of my head that covers the process in any detail, so it's an open field for you to explore. To start with however, you would first need to decide how you define a 'Sept'. Some people, including a few GW writers, consider Septs as individual star-s...

Re: A question about grenades and AP for troops...

I don't see a way this thread can go anywhere productive. Agreed. This thread doesn't really hold up to ATT standards. In particular, it has already seen breaches of the first and second ATT primer guidelines: 1) Treat each other with respect whilst using family-appropriate language. 2) Post with s...

Re: 8th Edition Grenade Launcher?

The short answer is no you're not missing anything. The underslung bit on the pulse carbines (Firewarriors and gun drones have them too) is a photon grenade launcher, synchronised to fire with the carbine itself. In the editions before 8th it confers the pinning special rule to pulse carbines, but s...

Re: Help with Sept Colors

The undersuit is normally camouflage, just like the armour, albeit in a different and complimentary tone. Infantry guns are typically painted just like the armour, with a few dark gunmetal areas to taste. Shas'Ui wearing a large shoulder-guard typically have the middle panel in the Sept colour and e...

Re: Help with Sept Colors

If you really want to be strictly compliant with the 6th and 7th edition codexes, then your best bets would be Dal'yth (dark blue Sept colour) or D'yanoi (light blue Sept colour). Really though I wouldn't worry too much about it. Tau aren't Space Marines, with their rigid heraldry, and it's your arm...

Re: What's the rationale behind differently-colored helmets, armor plates, etc?

Thanks!! Do you think there's a way to stay true to the old 3rd Edition look, while still differentiating Shas'ui from Shas'vre? I figure I can keep the heads the way tey should be in 3rd Edition, and use the shoulders for WYSIWYG to differentiate the ranks? Maybe something like this? I see two opt...

Re: What's the rationale behind differently-colored helmets, armor plates, etc?

The reason is that the official GW studio colour scheme changed over the editions. The system you list for Crisis suits, for example, is NOT the original T'au colour scheme. It's a revised version for the 6th edition codex. In the original T'au colour scheme for 3rd edition all Crisis suits had comp...

Re: What is Ta'lissera? Cultural and Personal Importance

Only the Fire caste and Earth caste have Ta'lissera (as established from the first codex forward Just a quick point of order, the Ta'lissera was never explicitly stated to be exclusively a Fire Caste and Earth Caste thing. The mention of it in the background piece on Tau language and culture in Cod...

Re: Knives' Tau Paint Blog

I like the colour scheme you've chosen for your Tau - I don't know why, but something about the colour combination reminds me a lot of some of the original Generation 1 Transformers. As for what Sept to go with, the easy options are T'au, which under 6th edition background has white as its Sept colo...

Re: Image Hosting Options

It's a bit situational, but one trick I've found is blogger. If you open an image posted on blogger in a separate tab, copy the URL for it and paste it into an Img tag on the forum, it will post the image. That's how I've been handling all my images on here. The only drawback is you need to have a b...

Re: Paint Colors for Classic Tau Sept

Wow, thank you so much!! I'll take all of your single-color suggestions definitely. Your scheme looks just like the old classic Tau sept colors (not that they've changed much since though). I'm wary about mixing paints though, I don't think I'll be able to ensure getting the same mix each time. Are...

Re: Paint Colors for Classic Tau Sept

Well I'm not sure about the 4th edition T'au colour scheme, but I do know a bit about the 3rd edition one. I'm planning on posting up a full tutorial at some point in the future, but the method I've been using for my own Tau army reboot goes like this: Armour Base: Skrag Brown Main Colour: Tau Light...

Re: Kakapo's Cadre Redux

Thanks for the responses everyone, although some parts are a little awkward given that Cal'ka is actually a female Shas'nel. Perhaps I should have included more pronouns in the commentary about making her. I'm blown away! I've been considering using a standard Fire Warrior head for a Fireblade for a...
