Spikey use that among other clickbaits to generate traffic to the website.

Spreading infos without checking sources are the 21st century view of "journalism" on most web medias.

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

Loosing JSJ for T'au battlesuit and drones in 8th is like Guards loose their orders, Orks their waaagh or Nids their instincts. JSJ was part of what defined the original jetpacked battlesuits and drones. No a mechanism solely to us, as Eldar jetbikes and Necron destroyers got the same ability in 7th...

Re: Longstrike background, cannon & fluff

So far, only the codex (and so lexicanum, which uses official fluff) provides background. 40Kwiki provides additional infos, but not properly sourced: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Longstrike With the fluff problems (T'ros canon conflict) it's not that bad if you takes some liberties with the b...

Re: Beam Swords on suits

My eye roll are just a smile to see such topic going up regularly, and often finishing on the same conclusion: W40k is just a SciFi setting without hard coherent lore and tech, so anything is OK. The fluff already show examples of blades and most of them (quite all of them it seems) have physical bl...

Re: XV-8 as a drone unit proxy?

Nice idea.
But think about visually make a difference between stats of crisis and those of drones: removing/changing head is probably the better way (a magnet could help here too). Or maybe removing arms (to mount weapons a la stormsurge), but this will need too much magnets.

Re: Beam Swords on suits

Beam sword. Again. This idea does to the surface regularly... Disruption field on a regular blade edge seems a better way to go, from Necrons, Eldar, Humanity, even Nids (biosword are psy-powered) uses them. Because they realize that when your energy source goes wrong, it's nice to have a phy...

Re: Do the Tau make use of wheels anywhere?

Tau using wheels ? I think yes. TL;DR: Tau Earth Caste maybe have some kind of "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid) engeener motto that push them to not use antigrav for every trinket they design. - Antigrav engines need to be probably beefier the heavier the vehicle is. Same law than wing area...

Re: MV4 Shield Drones

No need to buy, just build it from drone and crisis bits. Drone top, 2 drone antennas, gun drone bottom with weapon holders cut and a spare crisis shield. (these parts were almost the one used to make the metal master of the first shield drones) You can add some tubing on the shield, but the drone i...

Hello fellow teacher, late 4th ed 40k joiner, and big guns-and-robot fan (I'm near 37 too...).

Enjoy your stay. We hope our battle reports will give your the idea to bring new ones.

Extensive and clear analysis. Back in the 6th edition, I've done too some statistical tools to extend the simpler average result to distribution: http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=20052 Outdated since, I have too little time to put it for 8th ed but if someone want to do ano...

Re: 3D printed drone base with magnet inset

Good idea. I advise you if you go to Shapeways to propose something more smaller, for example an adapter to put on the to of the drone stand and maybe under the drone, to fit magnet. But I feel that idea will not goes very far: one could always put magnet instead of pin on the drone stand... If only...

Re: 3D print extra parts: Stormsurge, Riptide, Piranha, ...

Thanks. Since I got the clearance from Den of Imagination painting studio to link to the gallery where is the Stormsurge, here it is: http://www.denofimagination.com/gallery/59e70127be605f0004f9bbb7/59e70129be605f0004f9bbb8 . They gave the parts a very nice paintjob. No Wookies, but I wonder when GW...

Re: What does RAW mean by "hull"?

I would say that if the dozer blade was used to measure and considered being part of the hull, then it is valid too for other hull considerations too (cover, hits, ...), not conveniently choosen or not. The Vindicator has a dozer blade that is difficult to consider apart of hull, Rhino's and AM's on...

Do most people not like the open cockpit? I like the cockpit cover in this thread, but I think the open cockpit is cool too. It adds a kind of flavor not seen in almost any other model in the 40k range. http://www.st-v-sw.net/images/Wars/Episodes/RoTJ/atstcab8.jpg It's nice to be in an universe whe...

Re: Do Pulse weapons shoot bullets?

Beware to not confuse heat and temperature. Plasma (and other burning gases or flames) have a high temperature but carry little heat: you can put your hand over a candle (~1700 Kelvin) flame for a fraction of second and only be a little warmed, but if you touch melting iron at the same temperature f...

Re: It's a new galaxy. What's next for Tau? Psychic? Thoughts?

No weirdo psy power for Tau, please. But maybe we can have at least some derived resistance to mitigate the too powerful psyker on the other side: - our mind does not tamper deeply with Warp, so Warp mind power would not affect us as easily as they can do on human, orks, nids and Eldar (this applies...
