Re: Trouble with Mathhammer: Mean, Median, and Skewed Distributions

Extensive and clear analysis. Back in the 6th edition, I've done too some statistical tools to extend the simpler average result to distribution: http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=20052 Outdated since, I have too little time to put it for 8th ed but if someone want to do ano...

Re: 3D printed drone base with magnet inset

Good idea. I advise you if you go to Shapeways to propose something more smaller, for example an adapter to put on the to of the drone stand and maybe under the drone, to fit magnet. But I feel that idea will not goes very far: one could always put magnet instead of pin on the drone stand... If only...

Re: 3D print extra parts: Stormsurge, Riptide, Piranha, ...

Thanks. Since I got the clearance from Den of Imagination painting studio to link to the gallery where is the Stormsurge, here it is: http://www.denofimagination.com/gallery/59e70127be605f0004f9bbb7/59e70129be605f0004f9bbb8 . They gave the parts a very nice paintjob. No Wookies, but I wonder when GW...

Re: What does RAW mean by "hull"?

I would say that if the dozer blade was used to measure and considered being part of the hull, then it is valid too for other hull considerations too (cover, hits, ...), not conveniently choosen or not. The Vindicator has a dozer blade that is difficult to consider apart of hull, Rhino's and AM's on...

Re: 3D print extra parts: Stormsurge, Riptide, Piranha, ...

Do most people not like the open cockpit? I like the cockpit cover in this thread, but I think the open cockpit is cool too. It adds a kind of flavor not seen in almost any other model in the 40k range. http://www.st-v-sw.net/images/Wars/Episodes/RoTJ/atstcab8.jpg It's nice to be in an universe whe...

Now the beast shows in all its glory !
If you agree to let me use pics, your model will be featured in my shapeways shop (I asked the studio to get their name shown).

Re: Do Pulse weapons shoot bullets?

Beware to not confuse heat and temperature. Plasma (and other burning gases or flames) have a high temperature but carry little heat: you can put your hand over a candle (~1700 Kelvin) flame for a fraction of second and only be a little warmed, but if you touch melting iron at the same temperature f...

Re: It's a new galaxy. What's next for Tau? Psychic? Thoughts?

No weirdo psy power for Tau, please. But maybe we can have at least some derived resistance to mitigate the too powerful psyker on the other side: - our mind does not tamper deeply with Warp, so Warp mind power would not affect us as easily as they can do on human, orks, nids and Eldar (this applies...

Re: 3D print extra parts: Stormsurge, Riptide, Piranha, ...

hey all! Just wanna give some feedback on the stormsurge extra bits. Firstly, I didn't paint or assemble it myself. It was done by a professional studio whose name I blacked out. (the colour scheme is quite out there but hopefully some ppl will like it) Secondly, the feedback given was that it was ...

Re: Do Pulse weapons shoot bullets?

Off-topic question for the physicists and hunters out there, do crossbows have recoil? Any launcher that throw mass at some speed have recoil. It's the momentum conservation principle: If you launch in one direction a m1 mass to a v1 speed, the launcher of mass m2 will have a v2 speed on the other ...

Re: Vertical charging

Situation happens with a group of crisis + drones on the top of a 4" building charged by hormagaunta and flying tyrant in 7th edition. Gaunts and flying tyrants were able to cover the distance from their position but could not fit. Then we placed all models at the base of the building and do th...

Re: Do any of the human heads look alright when converted to Tau?

Human heads are difficult to convert properly into Tau and they will look weird without ears and nose because they still have too much human features (I don't remember the link to the pics I've saw with these guards heads conversion) I tried, before GW gives us new female head, to create a Tau femal...

I know what will be in the hands of my commanders in due time!! :) Would it include the entire unit or just the blue section in the 3D print? How is the smoothness and detail compared to reference? The grey part is the original fusion blaster body minus the 2 small boxes (assembly pins) on its side...

Re: Greenstuff + bluestuff= lots of CIBs

I did some mold work about a year ago. I was using a similar thing to blue stuff except it was from Japan. I did a 50/50 mix of greenstuff and greystuff by Milliput. The mixture becomes more ridged and it more easily sanded. I wrapped a rubber band around my molds as well. As Panzer said, you have ...

Re: 3D print extra parts: Stormsurge, Riptide, Piranha, ...

Thanks. Magnet slots are to be provided once the parts would really need it (at the moment, they are just barrel replacers). The problem with predrill magnets is the size and number to add: some (like me) use 3x1mm with (or without) a steel pin, others 3x2mm, others two 2x1mm, and I also saw once a ...

Nice to see another 3d modeler. You may want to contribute to our 3d resource thread http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=25004 . PM to AgentArrow to update the OP. A side note concerning OOP models: GW is likely to still hold the (c) on them, so be cautious if you offer the mo...
