Re: Breachers are still good

I prefer the idea of charging with the devilfish first, then disembarking the following turn and having the Devilfish fall back. You don't want to do it to something that can melee the Devilfish to death or surround it in bodies, but it has a number of benefits. 1) Keeps your Breachers safe for a ro...

Re: Sniper Teams?

Great job on making a datasheet.

Is there a way this could be turned into a usable template to share with the rest of us rules tinkerers?

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

I can see a fall back and shoot benefit being picked up by one of our more 'disciplined' septs. T'au maybe? It fits well with Kauyon style play. An aggressive sept may see an advance and shoot style benefit. Another sept may have a bonus to shoot when stationary (reroll 1s, +1, ignore cover, etc) I'...

Re: Forgeworld FAQ is up

Other than the lack of fix for High Intensity Markerlights, I think there's no faults to be found in this FAQ.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Farsighted Enclaves isn't Space Wolves to the Tau Empire's Ultramarines. its more like the White Scars. For there to be a proper codex for Farsight (not a codex suppliment like we had before) there would need to be new units and new models, neither of which I are coming soon. Instead we will see som...

So, I'm getting a firm 'wait for the movie' vibe here.

Re: Theory: Enter the Fear-tide.

Aside from fixating on the Riptide as it arguably can't fulfil this role, the basic principle of using a large, unit that is too damaging to completely ignore and to hard to kill to be easily dispatched is a great approach. All of the Tau big suits can do this. Some of them also bring enough firepow...

Re: Drone Morale

As wonky as it is for our drones to desert en masse (probably a reaction to realizing their sheild generators can't protect them) at least drone casualties no longer cause Riptides to break and run. What about Crisis suits's drone casualties? It will break them. They don't have drone support. And t...

We were one of the only factions to get Codexes in both 6th and 7th. There's probably a reason for that.

Re: Beating AM conscript horde

I wonder if a change of point of view might help.

Tall units (Stormsurge, Riptide, Knights) might be able to see over the masses to engage the artillery directly. Flyers may also be able to similarly engage those hidden at the back.

Fortifications then? Protect them behind the walls of a high toughness, high wound structure that lets them continue to shoot.

Re: Tau 8E match-ups

The question on seekers is are we underestimating the Mortal wound or did the design team overstimate it? If the mortal wound is a big deal, then seeker missiles, destroyer missiles and railgun rules are fine and quite nasty. If the mortal wound isn't so big a deal, then the listed weapons are sever...

Re: Tau 8E match-ups

AdMech is very, very shooty, even last edition. We seem to be the best at delivering mortal wounds through shooting though. Most armies are more likely to inflict mortal wounds on themselves because their weapons blow up than they are to actually have shots that do mortal wounds. The fact that Seeke...

Re: Tigershark AX-1-0 FW FAQ

Real world physics, a railgun is going to have much less recoil than a conventional gas expansion weapon of similar power, allowing for much more powerful weapons to be mounted on the same platform. Warhammer40k physics, the railgun is shooting at targets that can shrug off nuclear blasts and the im...
