Re: Devilfish in 8th

I really like the concept of the aggressive fish. Roll up, shoot a lot of dakka, charge the enemy, tie them up for a turn. Next turn, your Breachers disembark, the fish falls back to a position that sheilds your Breachers from return fire, and your Breachers shoot the ever loving gak out of the targ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Hope is evil. Kill all the hope! :P I try, but it keeps making its armor saves! That's why you need to use a railgun. In regards to the codex, my profound hope is that it waits long enough for the basic balance level for 8th to be figured out and planned around. This may be the one edition where ev...

Re: Tanks - what a disappointment

The rules for vehicles heavily favour Imperium/Chaos style vehicles which can carry multiple big guns over most Xenos vehicles which only have an individual big gun. Basically, the way to compensate for this is either to to give Xenos vehicles more big guns (which would mean redoing all the models) ...

Re: Modeling Tau Females - a discussion

While the angle both heads are being held at makes them seem rectangular, there is a definite taper to the jaw on the head with the "Y slit" that is missing fom the head with the "I slit". That taper appears to be in Shadowsun's jaw line as well. So it could be that a combination...

Re: New bits for tau hammerhead

It could be that Tau will get a Tank Commander similar to the IG and this becomes a useful but in marking that.

We could also see actual wargear options for our tanks (though the lack of them for Marines concerns me).

Re: New bits for tau hammerhead

This set isn't new, it's beena round for a while.

Interesting that it's on Pre-Order.

The bit was used in some Apocalypse formations and Spearhead formations back in 4th and 5th eds. Forget what it did then.

Re: 8th Edition Grenade Launcher?

There are a couple of ways I'd love to see this resolved. My favourite is to add a second fire mode to the Pulse Carbine representing lobbing a photon grenade at the target. I think this is the most straightforward option and allows any model with a Carbine to benefit. My next favourite is a special...

Re: Sniper Teams?

So then, instead of a weapon rule, a unit rule allowing the unit to target characters with shooting attacks (perhaps requiring them to maintain stationary).

Re: Sniper Teams?

I don't think making them slower really fits the sniper motif. As mentioned above, snipers tend to be pretty mobile, they just need to take a stationary position when making their shots. As such, you could use some rules that make it beneficial to the sniper team to stay still. Such as a bonus to hi...

Re: Breachers are still good

I prefer the idea of charging with the devilfish first, then disembarking the following turn and having the Devilfish fall back. You don't want to do it to something that can melee the Devilfish to death or surround it in bodies, but it has a number of benefits. 1) Keeps your Breachers safe for a ro...

Great job on making a datasheet.

Is there a way this could be turned into a usable template to share with the rest of us rules tinkerers?

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

I can see a fall back and shoot benefit being picked up by one of our more 'disciplined' septs. T'au maybe? It fits well with Kauyon style play. An aggressive sept may see an advance and shoot style benefit. Another sept may have a bonus to shoot when stationary (reroll 1s, +1, ignore cover, etc) I'...

Other than the lack of fix for High Intensity Markerlights, I think there's no faults to be found in this FAQ.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Farsighted Enclaves isn't Space Wolves to the Tau Empire's Ultramarines. its more like the White Scars. For there to be a proper codex for Farsight (not a codex suppliment like we had before) there would need to be new units and new models, neither of which I are coming soon. Instead we will see som...

Re: Theory: Enter the Fear-tide.

Aside from fixating on the Riptide as it arguably can't fulfil this role, the basic principle of using a large, unit that is too damaging to completely ignore and to hard to kill to be easily dispatched is a great approach. All of the Tau big suits can do this. Some of them also bring enough firepow...
