Re: first ever tournament 1500pts

Getting into the 9" on the first drop is good but it's not that much needed imo. Keep in mind that you don't do 2d6 damage. You pick the highest of the two. Yup. double roll may have been a confusing use since that could be interpreted as 2d6 but I meant exactly what you said. I have noticed a...

Re: Playing against Grey Knights 1000 pts, please help

Target Lock on crisis is a very odd choice no matter the loadout. It's generally considered best to load a 3rd weapon or if points are tight opt for an ATS. Missiles are fine but as you will see many people will prefer the CIB for the ability to overchage and reliably punch down armor plus it's chea...

Get's a QFC into the 9" range to double roll damage. I think it's great to keep IMO.

Re: 500pt list help

Victory! All the advice about deployment and charging really paid off. I was up against the Skitarii Start Collecting box set and I went second and still won. Rolling markerlights one at a time was a game changer, as was marking multiple units. Coldstar's mobility was awesome, but she was kind of i...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

I still don't get why Pathfinder should drive as close as Breacher to do their job, but sure why not. :D I use them in the same transport and have them disembark with breachers in the face and the pathfinders 6" away to get FtGG while also not getting wrapped into plus I still get RF range on ...

Re: first ever tournament 1500pts

okay, thank for the suggestions, I couldn't really find a good way to fit everything, so I got it like this: Supreme Command detachment. Commander: 4xFusion Blasters 2x Gun drones Commander: 4xFusion Blasters 2x Gun drones Commander: ATS 3x Cyclic Ion Blasters 2x Gun Drones Battalion Detachment Cad...

Re: Ultramarines Chapter Tactics spotted!

I wouldn't be so sure about that. This means that EVERY unit (infantry, dread, or bike of course) gets one free command reroll per shooting and fight phase. This stacks with the normal command reroll, because you can reroll different die. This makes all those units consistently deadly. In addition,...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

I find it odd how much work people are expecting a relatively cheap upgrade gun (with up to two 8/-1/d3 damage shots! Only 1 damage from the Ion rifle whereas the rail rifle DOES get d3 and a potential to get another MW and isn't hindered by movement. Again, my flavor of playstyle benefits my use o...

Re: 500pt list help

I totally hadn't considered adding 3in to Rapid Fire. That seems awesome. I mostly play against my friend's Orks, and they charge me like crazy. Like I can't even believe the distance they cover. Orks gain their reroll to charge and the ability to charge after advancing from their warboss. Kill it ...

Re: 500pt list help

I guess I'm having trouble imaginging scenarios where the increased range or the lessend charge distance are relevant. Do they ever matter in-game? The increased range is useful in situations like where your maximum range of a pulse rifle is increased by a further 6" but it also increases your...

Re: Tau (Vior'la and T'au) vs Space Marines - 900 points

Right, but parking the drones near someone with a DC bumps their BS to 2+ which is what I was saying before. My apologies if that didn't come across correctly! True- but this requires even more logistics for four little Marker Drones. The Drones, the Tidewall, the Firesight Marksman, the Drone Cont...

Re: Pathfinders: Ion Rifles or Rail Rifles (or none)

So far I've been pretty impressed with railguns on pathfinders. I have a VERY specific role for them and that is hunting elites and multiwound guys. Arm them with stuff for the role you want them to take on. The ion is just stupid cheap but if you get over the fact that the rail rifles are expensive...

Re: first ever tournament 1500pts

the three commanders in the supreme command detachment will be on a manta hanging out with the crisis team, the other commander will be together with the rest of the forces in the ground, as far as I understand, the cadre fireblade ability is cumulative, and I'm looking forward to see them in actio...

Re: Anyone nostalgic for the run-up to 8th Edition?

Considering that there even was a rumour about the T'au codex being third and Atia mentioning there's something coming for T'au a few weeks/months ago I dare say we have pretty good chances to get our Codex within the current year. :P Don't want it to be too soon though. I don't want us to suffer b...

Re: First 2k List for Tournament

Riptides and broadsides aren't very exciting for their points this edition. I recommend checking out some of the Cadre Building forum posts and go through what we've suggested elsewhere and find stuff that is in line with what you own and fits your playstyle. If you insist on playing with those mode...
