Re: 2000Pt Stealth and Fusion Cadre

Fireblade has zero purpose hiding with the strike team in the backfield. Waste of points IMO. Extra stealth suit with ATS if you're so inclined.

Re: Early warning override use against Reserve models.

As for the drop pod, I would argue that as it specifies that the model can perform drop pod assault, And the unit is just happening to disembark, it would only hit the drop pod. And I would argue that within the rules of the drop pod states that the unit MUST immediately disembark just like in 7th ...

Re: 1100 point Tournament List, Need help!

Usually TO's look at anything with "Commander" in the title as one entry, annoyingly. If not, I suggest 2 QFC's and 2 coldstars with ats and sg. If not, just the 2 QFC's. I'd run a fish and breachers and a fish and gun drones with a fireblade to eat up points. This combo should mulch troop...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I'll let you guys know what our rail weapons change (or don't!) to after this weekend when I talk with some of the playtesters. They may have some insight as to where stuff ended up. Too too The Leaktrain is coming. :D Haha, I wouldn't go that far but I will definitely be among those who at least p...

Incorrect. 95 points. 90 for the 3 stealths, 5 for the DC. And you're not using the proper math for shield drones anyway. Please take this to PM if you insist.

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Yes quite. A drone controller and a flamer is a waste of 2 BS2+ weapons. Stealth suit can take a drone controller without losing any amount of firepower? UNTARGETTABLE. What part of this word are you people missing? Makes him infinitely harder to kill than stealths which are admittedly hard to kill...

Re: Something I missed on Shield drones

If you're referring to if the shield drone itself was shot at, yes the drone could take its armor save first followed by the FNP if it fails. This. I played wrong the whole time :-( Been there.... I realized that 2 months ago after 30+ games played... and I was never using Shield drones cause I tho...

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Blob of 51 drones. It's 10 commanders each with 2 shield drones, 3 6 man drone squads with 3 shield drones, 2 gun, 1 marker, 1 6 man with 2 each, and one 7 man with 2 gun, 2 marker, and 3 shield. 3 squads of 5 strike team because I needed a battalion. Oh and 4 kroot hounds because of DS protection....

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

UNTARGETTABLE. What part of this word are you people missing? Makes him infinitely harder to kill than stealths which are admittedly hard to kill anyway. But the point stands that my DC caddy is untargettable. Everyone complains about how easy it is to break up our synergy with killing off markerli...

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

Best DC carrier is technically a commander. DC+flamer and he's untargetable. He's in my GCGT list I'm taking this weekend. I think you may be forgetting to factor in the massive amount of firepower you lose giving a DC to a commander and taking away his BS2+ entirely with flamers. Yes quite. A dron...

Re: Stealth suits for dummies

On top of all the resilience, they're also probably our best carrier for a drone controller as it stands, as they don't lose a weapon to take it. Means if you use a homing beacon for a flamer crisis team with 6x gun drones, you essentially get 6 more burst cannons worth of S5 fire :) Their damage o...

Re: How do you get markerlights ?

T0nka mentioned the XV-84 commander variant. It comes with a hard mounted target lock and networked markerlight leaving it with only 2 points to add weapons/support systems after this. It automatically applies a single marker hit when any of its shots successfully hit (whether they subsequently wou...

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

Actually since mortal wounds are single point damage wounds they would bypass it, since they would have to roll under the damage and thus they can't roll less than one no? Yes, they would bypass it. Not sure about destroyer missiles since multiple mortal wounds behave kind of oddly. It's not d3 dam...

Re: Early warning override use against Reserve models.

If the shooting happens before the drones and commander separate, how to you handle the difference in Toughness between drones and the Commander? 8e no longer allows mixed toughness units, so I don't think its covered in the rules. Both the shots and splitting of the squad happens at the same time ...

Re: Optimal loadout against quantum shielding.

TLDR: Based on the wording of that ability that's giving you trouble, mortal wounds should bypass it. Broadsides and the hammer head can take seeker missles But you would want some markerlights. Railgun +long strike can help the with mortal wound chance if you change the Hammerhead loadout. I also ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Has anyone looked to see if our points cost per unit/weapon/support system are justified if the BS is 3+? What if the markerlight system was more like: 1 ML: Destroyer/Seeker 2 ML: No Cover 3 Ml: No penalty for moving/advancing 4 ML: +1 BS 5 ML: AP -1 Simple fixes imo that keep the tau focused on M...
