Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

No it wouldn't help because re-rolls happen before modifiers. If a commander with this warlord trait shoots at an Altoic ranger then he would score a hit on 4s but re-roll only 1s (because the 2s and 3s would not be failed hit rolls when the re-roll happens). Correct and it's for that reason I'd mu...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The relic also gives a 1/6 to generate a CP when the opponent uses one, so isn't bad. Some others get far worse. As for the Reece case, it's not the coordinated firepower, that one was a bummer, but rational. It was the outright changing of rules of the firestorm formation and the ghostkeel under ve...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Sad part? this is miles ahead of what my other army (thousand sons) is getting according to the same rumor source. At least the relic does a little, and the second trait helps a coldstar quite a bit (if you would even warlord a coldstar X_X) A stratagem I'll never use, because at the moment I really...

Re: Charging, faq, errata, and command point reroll conflict.

If a rule causes you to reroll the RESULT you reroll all dice.

The stratagem does not reroll the result, it reroll one dice, regardless of what kind of dice abs what it does.

In contrast, an ability telling you to reroll charge range reroll the result itself, and by such all dice involved.

Re: How will you use Shield Drones, post-FAQ?

And that's why GW did is so lower drop count gets first turn.
But the turny dudes are so sure they know better, they didn't consider that maybe GW actually did the right thing and overruled it.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

The new imperium tau tech is explained by the admech grabbing whatever tau tech they run into and running even amist battle and abandoning thier allies. That's even cannon they did it quite a lot recently. As for the lost forth, it was done to allow tau to participate in event who are not in thier i...

Re: New 8th FAQ

Way too expensive? I think you missed something here. pathfinders barely cost more than kroot. For every 4 kroot screen models, you could have 3 pathfinders. and given that pathfinders got better armor, they'll screen just as good-except the pathfidners will get a little done with their superior gun...

Re: GrimDarkMath - Suggestions and requests

And Ralai is even worse than I expected, and that makes me sad :( The PPW numbers only represent the units potential damage output against various targets. It doesn't represent any of the unit's ability to absorb damage and keep the enemy busy and R'alai is pretty tough for a commander model (T6, W...

Re: GrimDarkMath - Suggestions and requests

Target getting no cover is rather silly, considering you can just not activate the cover toggle.

I must ask though, had you even tried 8th edition BRB missions before dissing them?

Especially with the new missions card thingies, they seem like they are going to spice it up a lot.

Re: New 8th FAQ

Honestly, I thought it actually did work like that until about a week ago because I didn't read into it, and it was the obvious RAI.

Not exactly a shocker of a change.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Yea, getting broken up to group is awesome. Sure, It will make it harder to pull off piling all the named characters to the same list-but that in itself is absurd that every list has longstrike (or any other named dude who will turn out to be very good and spammed) Giving subfactions their own sligh...

Re: New 8th FAQ

Longstrike will probably buff FW hammerheads too once the next FW faq is up and give them the "hammerhead" keyword. The Missile Pod Hammerhead already had the "hammerhead" keyword, and the first FW FAQ added it to the other variant. Took them a while but they finally managed to ...

Re: Gauche's Battle Report Thread | Updated 7/23/17

I have nothing against commanders in general, but jesus-you have crossed a line there XD This is sillier than 7th librarian spam. And they are all identical to add insult to injury. Having all the gun drones in a nutcase amount of 2-model units is interesting though, makes it really easy to get him ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Ok, saw on the web some guy going over the entire codex (on vid), not sure how legal is it to post it here. However, holy hell stratgems are awesome, really pushes the whole "get CPs" thing, even beyond the fact relics costs CP. Relics seems good, they are mostly just upgrades on top of re...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Actually relics cost points. The warlord is allowed to pay for and equip 1 relic (Not named characters). At least Space Marines have a stratagem that lets them either spend 1 cp to give 1 relic to another character or 3cp to give a relic to two other characters. Different relics for each of course....

Re: Stingwing Drones. Good proxy option?

I've always found stingwing conversions to work best as "stingwing fire warriors" The speed can be attributed to a suit-type jetpack with no added armor beyond regular combat armor (using seeker missile rears and some bits), the gun can be a variant mix of a carbine and a blaster (powered ...
