Re: Farisght: Crisis of Faith - New Farsight novel in july

Arc'thunder: read the book, then you can get back to me. Get back to you on what? My statements and criticisms of your comments do not hinge on my understanding of the book. I've simply pointed out where your assumptions of previous T'au fluff are incorrect and are thus not contradicted by this boo...

Re: Farisght: Crisis of Faith - New Farsight novel in july

While I expect this book to be as terrible as anything else he's done with our faction, there are some complaints here that seem strange. “Now, we will be separated by time. But we shall be just as united in our goals. Our team’s influence shall transcend one lifetime, and grow ever stronger as the ...

Re: White Dwarf with Tau reference

- I can't seem to find an issue number on it, but April 2013 is the White Dwarf issue covering the 6th edition Tau release. It features designers' commentary on the 6th edition Tau models, a battle report between the Tau and Tyranids (odd how history repeats itself sometimes) and a Tau painting gui...

Re: Reinforcements & mont'ka

Ok it won't work. Thanks for the info. What if the same 3 XV8s took 6 drones with them when they reinforced (deep strike), Once placed on the table the drone rules state that the drones then become their own unit, could they not act as a buffer from retaliation shots or charging in the next turn (e...

Re: New Tigershark?

The reason the railguns look so front heavy is because it's using the same gun model as the KV139. https://17890-presscdn-0-51-pagely.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Tau-Tigershark-AX-1-0.jpg https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99560113054_KX139TaunarSupremacyRai...

Re: Once again, Oh Star of Mine. - A Speculative Tau Short.

It should be noted that there was the Tau Apocalypse Formation that had several Sunshark Bombers utilize a "Paradox Attack" wherein one bomb had a D profile. The idea was that, on a successful attack the weapon would thrust the target into the future to its death or decay, or (on a wound r...

Re: Once again, Oh Star of Mine. - A Speculative Tau Short.

Excellent story Tael ! Glad to see a story from you again. And what a twist that was. I recently had a talk with one of my favorite BL writers and expressed to him my disappointment with so much Tau canonical works and he said he empathized with me but; "no one really likes anime". Seems a...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Given that this is the case, it will definitely become viable to only have one Markerlight unit on the table, and just split their fire with the new shooting rules, to light up multiple targets. I never enjoyed being forced to have multiple Markerlight units on the board. It felt like I was being f...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I kinda agree. 3 guns will look pretty weird unless you build two of them like a former twin-linked gun. I honestly wouldn't know what Support Systems to take anyway? ⋅ I doubt they'll have access to Advanced Targeting System since that's kinda the old Sniper Rule and Crisis sniping with ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Something nifty that was pointed out to me was the wording used for Markerlights in the article: . . . which works great when paired with one Markerlight hit on a target, allowing any T’au unit to reroll 1’s when firing on that unit. ANY Tau unit rerolls 1's when firing on that unit. It doesn't app...

Re: The run to 8th edition

You kinda ignored that half of the article was about summoning. It now cost points but it gives you the advantage of not having to chose the unit you want to summon while writing your list. Whether that's good or not will depend entirely on the fact whether there is a real choice among units to sum...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Points and Power Levels is up.

Nothing really in here other than assurances for those who were panicked about the idea of points or power levels. There are some nice tidbits regarding existing options and what their new points are, though. For example, Multimeltas for a Tac Squad are 27 points.

Re: Kroot & Vespid Sold out?

Also I'm from Canada so maybe it's a local supply issue? It is very likely that your local GW HQ or distribution center has run out of stock, in some cases stock is a regional thing. Also, I want to tell everyone this: if something is out of stock on the GW site use the "Email Me" feature...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Anyone else feel that crisis suits will either lose the ability to take twin-linked weapons, or that firing a TL weapon will count as shooting 2 weapons? I know we don't have all the rules and datasheets etc., but as is a single XV-8 armed with a burst cannon and twin-linked burst cannon will be pu...

Re: Shadow War: Armageddon tactics and warband make up

V2 FAQ is out and Tau have been buffed. Change the ‘Using a Tau Pathfinder Kill Team’ section to read: A Tau Pathfinder kill team follows all of the normal rules, with the following exception: – A Tau Pathfinder kill team consists of 3-10 Pathfinders and can additionally include up to 3 Drones. Cha...

Re: The run to 8th edition

I mostly meant nothing new and unexpected in terms of how the datasheets look. But sure, not much new or unexpected with the rubric marines themselves either. Take a look at current Rubric marines and tell me there's something that surprises you. Biggest news is that this post - I agree win Panzer ...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Agreed on that point Arc. They could be going for a high model cost, low model cost, or something in between. Let alone all the existing factions needing their own special rules all taken into consideration for balance. There is a rumor on BOLS saying the Xenos won't get anything new until 2018. It...

Re: The run to 8th edition

Even if the baseline points values are very similar I would expect Broadsides to be at least 20 points more expensive just on the basis of this one rules change. They will be worth it :D Current points values will be mostly irrelevant on many of our non-troop infantry. Given the inherent adjustment...
