Re: 2k suit heavy.

You're probably worrying too much about your Crisis teams getting instant deathed. It can happen, but if you're able to jump around cover and/or keep a drone out front, it isn't too much of an issue. Only stuff on the order of a krak missile can take out a suit in one shot, and not much has a pie pl...

Re: Story driven map campaign

In the new Tau Codex, its mentioned that the Tau ended up destroying an Exodite world due to Dark Eldar shenanigans. They thought they'd tracked down the people who were attacking their colonies, but, well, Dark Eldar are kinda jerks like that. As far as I can recall, that's pretty much it, at least...

Re: Surviving the Basilisk

Smart and/or seeker missiles sound like they would help a lot here. If you're able to land a single markerlight on the Basilisk, you can fire a Seeker no matter the line of sight. If its in the side or rear armor, you have a very good chance of getting a pen. Our fliers come with 2 Seekers built in,...

Re: 1500 pts Taudar

Sounds like a very interesting list, I imagine that the Riptides supported by the Commander and/or Farseer are going to be terrifying. However, the army seems a little.... light? You have both a very small number of models and a small volume of shot output, especially considering a Tau army as its c...

Re: Mechanized Spearhead 2000pts.

I would have to agree with Vash in saying that an Ethereal would be almost ideal for this sort of list. While that extra victory point could be an issue, the benefits would likely outweigh the costs. I've had a fair bit of trouble with my Firewarrior teams running off the board after a poor morale c...

Re: Shark of Fury - protecting the FoF against CC

I'm not sure how practical this idea would actually be on the table top. While it would be nice to get some extra defense against CC, it seems like it would be extremely situational and rather easy to get around. 1)The Fish would have to be moving straight forward, otherwise it would get out of sync...

Re: [1500] Fall Tournament Roster

Looks like a fun list. I do love the idea of being able to have Crisis teams as troops. :) Have you considered swapping out the kroot for a sniper drone team? If you're looking for them to be doing sniping duty, then I find the drones to be more effective. 2 kroot with sniper rounds cost 1 point les...

Re: Idea for Airbrushed Distortion field effect

That is a pretty awesome idea! An actual distortion effect would add a neat element of realism to our stealth teams and disruption pods. I'm not sure how much I would like to use it on the table top though, looking at it for any length of time would probably give me a headache. Would be a great disp...

Re: Tau Wet Navy Warfare

I doubt that most of their aircraft and/or skimmers would be able to operate underwater without modifications of some sort. The skimmers are described as using a dual anti-grav and and jet-propulsion motive system... (p. 39, Tau Codex). Jet engines at least do not translate well to underwater, since...

Thats a good idea, I hadn't considered keeping him in the Devilfish. It doesn't seem there is an official verdict on him using Invocations inside a transport, but the unofficial FAQ does touch on the subject. The consensus seems to be that he can. http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?p=25...

Re: All comers tournament (1000 pts)

Looks pretty solid all around. You're a little light on vehicle killing units, but not sure what the IG will be bringing to the table to help you with that. Only things I can really suggest are: 1) Probably don't need a Drone Controller on your Commander. It sounds like the 2 Gun Drones will be more...

Re: allrounded 1500/2000 points list with imperial guard!

Looks like it would be a fun list to play. Two shooty armies, side by side, but with very different play styles. It will probably do fine in most casual games. Flyers could be an issue for it, as you have only the one skyray. Few things you may want to change. The combination of weapons on your comm...

Re: Request - Assistance fighting IG at 2000 Pts

Longstrike is definitely a good choice. Between tank hunter and preferred enemy Imperial Guard, he can take apart most anything they can field. Front armor on a Russ is still pretty tricky though, so you'll never be able to guarantee a kill on one, but the odds are in your favor. Fusion blasters on ...

Absolutely love it! This is one of the best conversions (IMO) for the flyer I've seen to date. I have a Sunshark of my own waiting to be built, but was trying to figure out a cool way to convert it. Will probably be stealing this. More details on the tail mounting would be much appreciated.

Re: Cadre Calaban

If you want to have Raven so that he can take the items you have listed, you could do it, but you would need to make him a Shas'Vre bodyguard. So, you could do it, but then he wouldn't be able to be in a group with the regular Shas'Ui. Depends on if you want to keep all those nice signature systems,...

Re: 2000 Points of Mobile Tau

Welcome back to the Greater Good! Your list looks pretty solid all around, so not too much to say on it. In regards to your questions, - BS 5 twin linked marker drones will probably be very good at getting in a large number of markerlights. You will only be able to light up one unit at a time, but i...
