Re: Rerolls and modifiers

As said above, most of the abilities that I've seen that allow re rolls say 'can' so you would be able to choose which dice you choose, if the ability said 'must re roll failed' then you would be required to re roll any die that was less than your target before modifiers.

Re: I'm replacing all my strike teams with breachers... on foot!

Sometimes I wish I could "like" your posts, Arka. Very good indepths comparison without going too much into detail of army building (which would only favour Ork Boyz even more btw). I think this all the time, so many great points get made that don't need reply's too. In my Breacher experi...

Re: Stormsurge FAQ Inquiry

Just from a fluff perspective as well the Stormsurge isn't a battlesuit, its mobile artillery, that is why there is a crew compartment at the top, where as the Tau'nar is indeed a battlesuit and has an internal crew.

Re: To ATS or not to ATS that is the question.

Personally in a world where elite armies can have the same shooting output as a horde, crisis need to have 3 weapon options to compensate for the 4+ BS, either that needs to change, the markerlight system needs to change or the as stated a selection of the support systems need a more expensive hardw...

Re: Struggling with Space Marines (8th)

You must take those new shield drones with them that have the 3 up invul. They are tough as nails and scary as hell. After you fry a squad or two the other player ignores everything else on the table and just shoots the entire army at them. Shadowsun is the only unit who can purchase those 3++ shie...

Re: Why do drones have to take morale??

Yes, drones cost resources, but they have more resources to churn out drones than they do to churn out T'au, so self preservation when there are still squishy blues left on the battlefield doesn't make much sense. Well I think its a lot more complex than that, the Ethereals have a delicate balance ...

Re: Why do drones have to take morale??

Yeah, as stated above and in the 7th ed fluff they have always had a self preservation protocol, I think you need to remember that T'au are a small empire in the grand scheme of things and they don't have the manufacturing to send in wave after wave of expendable drones. That is mainly why Drones ar...

Re: Questionable use for countefire defense system

If you are going to spend the points anyway, then maybe multitrackers on the stealths will help instead, that way you get the same function as 1 markerlight, they can operate independent from the main force and its reasonably costed.

Re: To ATS or not to ATS that is the question.

I don't agree Tau are no longer bad at CC as S5, T5, 4A at -1AP is not in the realms of bad CC. Against the right target ATS and CC is effective and depending on target 1 extra weapons isn't that much better then ATS. So the CC advantage can be well worth while. A commander or 2 flamers ATS Crsis B...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Not just lacking a Psychic phase, against strong assault based armies we lack a fight phase too, since we can't really tie them up effectively like we can with other shooty based armies.

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

sorry, that comment was more directed towards people who had played a long time. There USED to be a sub commander called Shas'el back in 4th and maybe 5th. What I'm thinking is much like UM there will be a new standard where the Shas'el is the default commander and you spend CP to upgrade them to a...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Yup, I think they are just going to do what they did with the SM chapters and lump them in a single payment, I mean book. ;) I would love that due to it will save me money when I start collecting some codex books. Plus it is the logical conclusion since the indexes cover many different factions :D ...

Re: Flamers vs. Burst cannons

If you look at my spreadsheet for crisis loadout it shows average wounds against different save values and points per wound. You are paying almost double the cost of a wound on the burst cannons compared to flamers. The flamers however are pretty dependant on a stealth team with a homing beacon so ...

Re: Rethinking my whole army.

For T'au that's not what it's about. Instead for us close combat is a way to protect our units, and that is massively counter intuitive. I for one am glad that I didn't have to spend ages learning this, before if you got charged you had to hope that the enemy killed your whole unit, so your army co...

Re: Gue'vesa and others being corrupted?

there was also the story (I think it is in one of the codex's somewhere) with Tau fighting a Slaanesh CSM/Daemons army and having to kill the kroot because they ate corrupted flesh and started mutating, so yeah they have some experience with it. I assume it will be labelled the same way that Tyranid...

Re: Is Commander Farsight worth taking?

I think it really depends on what you will be fighting against, if you are going to come up against a lot of armies with support characters rather than super killy combat monsters then sure he can be worth taking. Your standard commander may be better with multiple guns, however if you are already s...

They are indeed not, no longer can we get extra shots on the sniper drones.
