Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Sure, it's similar, but the main point is that it allows more flexibility in our current codex. You have the choice of +1BS or re-roll 1s. You could add additional benefits we never had. For example 3ML to make seekers 1d3 and destroyer missiles 1d6, or 3ML to give +1 to wound for rail weapons, thin...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Speaking to Markerlights, is there a scenario where one level of ML support could remove the negative to hit modifiers of some enemy units (Eldar, Supersonic flyers, etc.)? Some rules allow their units to get up to -2 to hit, so maybe removing that whole buff is a bit too strong, but we could negat...

Re: An Appeal for Jump-Shoot-Jump

The problem JSJ often solved was the fact that we were terrible in combat, both in terms of causing damage and surviving it, and the lack of mobility our suits had. 8th hasn't solved the issue with causing damage (we've arguably regressed in that manner), but we are significantly more survivable. An...

Re: Upcoming T'au Code

There are rumors of two more Primarch s and on a stream they all but confirmed Fulgrim is coming later in the year with Slaanesh Deamons. Also one good Primarch too in the first half. With AoS getting two different army releases this takes up most if the year already. Rumor has it in June imps get ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

After all, what’s the point in sitting of a 14” move if you're going to sit on an objective and be able to have one enemy troop model potentially be able to take control of it from you ;) All of this is to say, yes it would be nice to see them get buffs, but they're far from needing a buff to be ve...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I meant allow one of these per game or something like that. One Monat unit per game would make sense. Are there any stratagems that work during list-building? That could set a precedent for a Monat-type stratagem. The various armies usually get “1CP to take a second relic, 3CP for a third”. And spa...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

True, though the Breachers setup has - More survivability (30 wounds vs 17) - A markerlight - A 5+ invuln - A fairly reasonable movement (21” max movement over 2 turns vs 14” if you're deep striking vespid) - Objective secured - Far better wound rolls (2+ vs 3+ for marines, 4+ vs 5+ for most vehicl...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Breachers depends a LOT on how you use them, if you actually push them forward aggressively and/or use them as area denial then they're one of the best units in our army. Usually one of the first set of things I add to a Tau list now are 9 Breachers (with a Guardian and Shield drone) and Darkstride...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Necrons would be sooo pissed! Too powerful? Probably not, would basically make firewarriors like frail primaris at shooting. Another thing to consider is what happens to our internal balance because this change would completely invalidate breachers. My guess it's not going to happen. Breachers need...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

I don't mean to sound negative. I've been playing warhammer since I was in elementary school back in the 90's. So I'm a little committed and obviously enjoy the product even with it's ups and downs. I've seen a ton of rumours though while I've played that end up being wrong even if from a reliable ...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

While I feel for the necrons, they are still the only major faction with less models than us. All the other factions have gotten more love than us along the years. You have to look at thinks through relativistic lenses. Rules-wise I can't really comment on it, since I've only been here since 7e. If...

Re: Upcoming T'au Codex

Did the thousand sons or custodes get point adjustments in chapter approved? I think the fact that Tau and Necrons didn't get index point adjustments in chapter approved is probably why a lot of people were optimistic if there were multiple armies we would be on the list. I'm a jaded veteran with G...

Re: Blending shade advice

I would be careful with Tamaya thinner. Not all acrylic thinners are the same. Some work well with Citadel paints and some don't. I've heard mixed things about Tamaya. Vallejo seem to work a lot better, or Lahmian medium works too. That said, if you want a blend then try feathering. This is where yo...

Re: The everchanging game: FAQs and Updates

Too much updates and rulebooks!! It was like this in previous editions? Right now the game is in a weird spot- we're still in the "transition" phase between editions, so there's a lot of things changing. Once the last Codex comes out (Summer 2018 maybe?) we should see the pace of updates ...

Re: Tau bland in 8th?

I feel we both gained and lost in 8th. We lost: - combat effectiveness from our few units that could deal damage. - our ability to gain a decent BS - manoeuvrability to avoid combat However, we gained: - the ability to field far fewer markerlights for a given army size without losing out - more resi...

Re: The everchanging game: FAQs and Updates

2nd up: In that vein, Chapter Approved's FAQ is out and very much fixes the broken wording of it's own updated matched play Character Targeting rule. If you encounter someone who tries to pretend that their injured Hive Tyrant can't be targeted at 9 wounds, or someone tries to screen a character fr...

Re: Breachers and how to use them

I swear by Breachers in all my lists. A unit of Breachers in a devilfish with a shield and guardian drone is one of the first things I add to any list. They encourage me to play more aggressively than I ever would with regular fire warriors. I often stick them up a flank as they can effectively cont...
