Re: [Article Submission] Shield Drone Barrier

I think that is a good idea. Do you want to make a submission for drone units or drones in general, with the subpart of drone units?

Re: [Article Submission] Shield Drone Barrier

My opinion on shield drones is mixed. I love using them as "look out, sir" sacrifices on commanders etc., and even in drone units I use them sometimes as additional protection and "no, you don't want to waste shots on this unit" models, but a unit consisting entirely of shield dr...

Re: Is it worth magnetizing wargear options you don't think you'll ever use?

I magnetize every weapon option and the shields, but none of the extra equipment.
But I use most of the options. I like flamers and burstcannons, and I play killteam almost as often as 40k. I think it is totally worth it.

Re: Magnetising New Tau Crisis Suit Models With Block Magnets

Thats pretty much how I used to it just on the sides. Do you have problems with the weapons spinning round when you handle them? Also I figured using block magnets the correct size for the slots already there would make things much simpler since no drilling would be required. I probably just made i...

Re: Magnetising New Tau Crisis Suit Models With Block Magnets

I magnetize my suits much simpler, it started with the old suits, but works as well for the new ones. I drill a hole not on the side of the arm but on the underside and in the top of the weapons and fill them with cylindrical magnets. Thus, there is no detail lost, the weapons are compatible on both...

Re: Reefshield Mobile Artillery Firebase (Stormsurge conversion)

Considering the size of your Reefshield, I'd suggest taking Devilfish-chassis jets front and rear. Great work, by the way.

Re: Hunter Contingent Combos

You agree with my assessment in the post above, but then contradict it in the next paragraph. Nothing Darkstrider does transfers over to the unit in regard to special rules and likewise, nothing the unit does transfers over to him. For example, you don't get to take a Commander from the Retaliation...

Re: Ranged Support Cadre + 1st turn tank shocks

"Vehicles can turn any number of times as they move , just like any other model. Vehicles turn by pivoting on the spot about their centre-point, rather than wheeling round. Pivoting on the spot alone does not count as moving" "Pivoting on the spot alone" indicates, that if you m...

Re: Ranged Support Cadre + 1st turn tank shocks

Well, no.
Turning is part of the movement. During your movement, you may move x" - thus, the distance gained by turning is included in the x", as you are not turning first and then moving your vehicle.

Nevertheless it would be a good idea. If it worked, it would be exactly what ATT is looking for. Keep up your good work, just check, if it is possible ;)

Re: Ranged Support Cadre + 1st turn tank shocks

I deployed the fish 18 inches away infiltrate first (which meant his other infiltrators couldnt block infiltrate). In the scout phase i moved the pathfinders out of the fish and moves the fish 12 inches towards his deathstar. He failed to seize and i just moved two of the fish normally over his uni...

Re: Hunter Contingent Combos

This is just another example to the faults of the "USR being shared" argument being the wrong interpretation. Instead of it being a do this get that, it's a do this get that, but we have to house rule X Y and Z in order to run it properly. Logical dictates that the simplest answer is ofte...

Re: Hunter Contingent Combos

Darkstrider - Darkstrider can't contribute because he's not part of the formation in any way. The rules say "models within the hunter contingent". Ethereal - Storm of Fire - you're getting the buff from the ethereal itself to adjacent models. Unless you'd like to argue that your entire ar...

I can imagine getting this problem soon, too.

It may be worth to glue some magnetic foil in the top of the boxes. Or buy a compartment box like this:

Re: Hypothetical Tau Jetbike Tactical Role

As far as working them on to the tabletop, what about adapting Jochmann's Piranha counts-as idea to fit a Tetra instead? One bike carrying the Markerlight while his wingman was armed with the twin Carbines(?), both on a similar base and at a similar height. Would any of you object to playing agains...

Re: Hypothetical Tau Jetbike Tactical Role

It is a good point you raise here: One pilot, one gunner for an armed skimmer. But I can imagine a stripped down unarmed Tetra being piloted by just one Fire warrior to be in the technical capabilities of our Empire. (And there were concept drawings by GW for an armed sniper version - but the Sniper...
