He's now acknowledged that he is wrong, so that's something at least.

Re: Shield Drone question

I've been involved in that discussion too, although the blog owner moderates comments and doesn't seem willing to allow too many comments that disagree with him. You are quite correct. The Shield Generator confers a 4++ save to the Drone, not to the unit. The phrasing of the Shield Generator rule is...

Re: XV-95 Ghostkeel Battlesuit discussion

If one model in a squad has stealth, the entire squad gains stealth. The Ghhostkeel itself has stealth, so the drones gain it. Now the drones grant stealth to each model in the unit, unless a model already has stealth, in which case the model gains Shrouded (it does not say "instead" of s...

Re: KX-139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour discussion

So I have been looking at the rules for this one and the model and I can't for the life of me figure out where the "Fusion Eradicator" sits on the model, All that I can see is the two Tri-Axis Cannon's and the Pulse ordnance multi-driver. There are also a bunch of sms and burst cannons th...

Re: KX-139 Ta'unar Supremacy Armour discussion

It's up for sale and the rules are up. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/PDF/Datasheets/Tau-Kx139-Ta%E2%80%99unar.pdf Eh. I dunno. It was sold and built up as a Titan killer and I suppose it is an equal of some of the Knights, but not a proper Titan. I'm a little surprised it only has one stren...

Re: Wraithknights & Wave Serpents oh my...

They have the best psykers in the game. There's little to no chance of an Eldar player ever having to take perils if they have enough warp charges. They get an ability that lets them expend WC to ignore perils. I don't have a problem with Eldar being the best psykers but it's worth noting that they...

Re: Necrons

They're also the same price as termies, but slightly less vulnerable to ap thanks to the 3++ with higher strength and more attacks. Terminators across the Imperium are crying into the pillows, wishing they had the stats of a Canoptek Wraith. T5, W2, 3++? Yes please!! Might actually make Terminators...

Re: Necrons

4. The whole squad is relentless. If the Necron player is smart, he will load his wraiths up with Transdimensional Beamers instead of the usual choice. (+3 int and one additional attack doesn't mean much when you have base 3, and rending already). 5. Formations ignore force org, so they can take as...

Here's mine. Just took the body and legs of the FW XV84 suit plus a load of spare support systems and a flamer.

Re: New FAQ Is Up

Super heavy walkers are finally slowed by terrain legally. Most players player that way anyway, but its good to have it written. The most beguiling thing I noticed is in the daemons FAQ. they outright ADDED a rule to the khone chariots. I do not remember anything like that in past FAQs. Only thing ...

That's just bad luck, pure and simple. Not much anyone can do about that other than hope the dice are kinder in future.

Re: Necron Canoptek Wraiths, oh heavens

Rate of Fire is definitely the way to go with Wraiths. I usually play Dark Eldar and I have rarely seen Wraiths make it into combat. A storm of splinter fire takes down the Wraiths and once they are dead, darklight weapons take out the Destroyer Lord. A Tau army should be able to achieve similar, if...

Re: Eldrad Ulthran, a real pain

Apart from the Wave Serpent and Rangers, everything he has in his list has an effective range of less than 24". It should be possible to have your entire army out of range of his entire army on the first turn and then your longer range guns can start picking him off. Having 2nd turn is usually ...

Re: Eldrad Ulthran, a real pain

I'm not entirely sure how a unit of 8 T3, 5+ save models is any sort of problem to take out for a Tau army. Virtually anything you shoot at them will kill them and you'll end up with Eldrad on his own, at which point he's dead. Just shoot them with Fire Warriors Submunition rounds from the Hammerhea...

Re: Rules clarification - Infiltrate

@Shas'o Deepstrike and Morollan Arguing about syntax is not useful, specially on only one sentence. Editors have 300 pages to review and so it's rare (and easily missed) to check each sentence exactly, specially if there is a consensus in the writers on how a thing is played. Try to see on other pa...

Re: Rules clarification - Infiltrate

"An Independent Character can begin the game already with a unit" to me this is the first part of the sentence that gives you the ability. This part is showing that they can in fact join a unit prior to deployment. This of course is not what any of us are having issues with, but this is a...

Re: Rules clarification - Infiltrate

So, you're saying that because it states "either by being deployed in unit coherency with it or", that the other must be deployed prior to the infiltrated unit being deployed... For some reason, I think it is much more clear in a different language as English is such an overly complicated...

Re: Rules clarification - Infiltrate

So this case is a strong lead toward IC joining before deployment. Nothing in the rules prevent IC with Infiltrate to joins non-infiltrating units on deployment. -> Shadowsun can join any unit she wants. I'm sorry but you cannot use a special rule that another character has (and Shadowsun doesn't) ...
