This is good since their primary purpose is to deliver xv8 via honking beacon

Re: I'm afraid of painting Tau tanks.

Razor blades , You shave paint clumps with or smooth out paint or fix mistakes. It's great for space marine shoulder trims etc. The sharper the blade better results. I highly recommend it. You will be surprised at the results. If you're thinning your paints properly and using a pallet (preferably a...

Re: I'm afraid of painting Tau tanks.

- there are different mediums for thinning out your paints, ranging from brand name flo-agents, to future floor wax, to water ( provided you work with acrylic paints ). A typical ratio for thinning paints is 50:50, or equal parts water/flo-agent to paint. If desired, play around with different rati...

Re: Use crisis model as commander units

So I can absolutely say unequivocally that if you put enough effort into converting and painting you can use any GW model as any similar GW model and no one will give you a hard time as long as the wargear is sufficiently WYSIWYG. I have used tactical marines and assault marines as both sternguard, ...

Re: What we can learn from the new Chaos Codex

Lets face it, Lowering points on codex release is just a good business decision. Higher points means fewer models per game means less sales. Lower points means more models per game means more sales.

Not all prototypes make it to production, clearly the xv22 was replaced by the Ghostkeel.

Re: Why 8th Gun Drons as OPAF

Also, they have to shoot at whatever is closest, so a good opponent will abuse that rule to significantly reduce their battlefield effectiveness. This. It radically reduces their combat effectiveness because you can't target priority. Further, because you declare targets at the same time, a 4 man u...

Re: Struggling with space marines

I never use shield drones. If I were to have a missile pod commander that stayed back then he'd sit in the middle of a squad of marker drones. But staying back is not my style, nor imho is it the best style for tau in the current meta. I build for first turn manta strike. My suits are always on the ...

Re: Struggling with space marines

Easy, just take an additional drone squadron for every 2 battle suits. So if you bring 6 crisis and 2 commanders, then take their max compliment + 3 squads of 4 drones in whatever combination of gun or marker drone you prefer. And just be prepared to get them as close to your manta strike as you can...

Re: Struggling with space marines

That could work against most armies. The way it went down for me was he used aggressors (6+D6 st 4 shots) and inceptors to take out my drones then hellguns and redemtor dreads to kill my commanders, lost 4 commanders in 1 turn of shooting and 3 crisis suits. Make sure your suits and commanders are:...

Technically he's missing 2 hard points; since he holds dawnblade in the suits hand actuator, it wouldn't technically use one.

O'Vesa and Ob'Lotai 9-0; for that matter, Shadowsun piloted a Ghostkeel in the fluff, so there's precedent. But I don't think we're likely to see it happen.

Yup and it pairs well with the start collecting box since you'll want a devilfish to deliver your Breachers, and pathfinders to mark up their targets.

Re: Tau take 4th at the Bay Area Open

Anyone else watch the recording of the 4th place players last game? He not only participates in the assault phase, it was a key part of his anti horde strategy. He charges a crisis team a couple commanders and a bunch of drones into an infantry horde and bubble wraps the enemy unit blocking it from ...

Re: Old Formation = New Strategems?

Man, as the Index is now, the new Stratagems would need to be phenomenal to knock Commanders from their lofty perch. Not necessarily, by all accounts the marine codex came with a number of points adjustments, so we can expect that to play a factor as well. Watch for an increase in commander cost, a...

I wonder if anyone has tried using magnetic spray paint as a primer, or if it would go on too thick.
