Re: Skyshield Landing Pad in 8th

GW is relying on common sense in this case. That doesn't bite on rules lawyers.. and "it used to be thus in last edition" doesn't really work on them either. Again I agree with everything you say, but there is nothing in the rules that provide for any of it; in fact all I can find are thi...

Re: Breachers are still good

How much did they survive after their initial alpha strike? I had a game where I did something similar, but instead of Breachers + Darkstrider I took Drones + Fireblade in my Devilfish. The fish spent one turn going forward and the next turn my drones popped out within 3" in front of my fish (s...

Re: Cyclic Ion Blaster, Overheat & Wound Allocation

Note that you don't suffer multiple wounds for multiple 1's on the hit. So if I hav ea CiB and I overcharge it and get 2 1's, I only ever get one mortal wound. True, but isn't it one mortal wound per weapon? So if I have 3 suits with 3 CIB each then I have to have 9 different color dice, assign 3 c...

I've played a few games with suits now and I never take anything else. Not for their bodyguard rule but because for 3 points every suit in the unit gets 3 attacks and leadership 8, not just one suit.

Re: Skyshield Landing Pad in 8th

Unaligned means that any faction may take this fortification. In comparison the Tidewall Shieldline has the T'au faction keyword. You need to be T'au to have it in your list. Where is this stated? All that I can find regarding that is that all units in a detachment must share the same keyword, so I...

Skyshield Landing Pad in 8th

I'm trying to decide whether to get a Tau Skyshield Landing Pad from a kickstarter and looked at the rules for it but I just don't get it. Is there some section of how buildings work that I've missed? The Skyshield pad has the keywords Unaligned, Building, Vehicle, Skyshield Landing Pad. It has a lo...

Drones and Unit Coherency

I had an issue come up in my game today about how drones that accompany suits should be deployed. The rules only state that "When a unit is set up, any accompanying Drones must be placed in unit coherency with it." Does that mean that each individual drone model has to be within 2" of...

Re: Crisis Bodyguard and Sworn Protector

Seems to me you only "lose a wound" in phase 4.5 Inflict Damage. At that point hits are no longer involved so I think that might just be fluffy writing. "A model loses one wound for each point of damage it suffers." So if a Lascannon hits, no saving throw was made and the cannon ...

Re: Cyclic Ion Blaster, Overheat & Wound Allocation

Thanks, missed that the wound allocation rules only applied to shooting.

I gave this a whirl in two games today and as long as I had marker lights everything was fine, but the one time I shot without I of course got two mortal wounds...

Cyclic Ion Blaster, Overheat & Wound Allocation

The rule for wound allocation is that if one model in a unit has a wound the unit has to keep allocating wounds to that model. However, the overheat rule on the Cyclic Ion Blaster states: "[...] hit rolls of 1, the bearer suffers a mortal wound [...]" Does the fact that it states "bea...

Re: Stimulant injector + sense of stone?

There are some rules with different wording that stack though, like the +1 to hit from Marksman and +1 to hit from Drone Controller for sniper drones. Same effect, different origins, different wordings. I don't see anything different here, until they FAQ it. It is not a re-roll but a separate roll f...

Re: Power to Points conversion for new FW updates

It feels to me like they screwed up in the Forgeworld book and that the points cost is including the standard layout or something. The TX7 Fire Support Hammerhead for example has identical stats as the regular Hammerhead in the regular book and the same power value, however in points the TX7 without...

Re: Tetras - worth it?

I think it might be time to shelf the Tetras for an edition. For the price of one Tetra that has 50/50 to hit one unit and generate 3 ML you could get 7 Pathfinders or almost 6 Marker Drones. The only thing the Tetra has going for it is the much increased move and the ability to also shoot 2-4 regul...

The same could be said for the other direction. If it was meant to be for only models, then it would have the exact same wording as the other tons of rules affecting just models.

Re: Volley Fire, Models and Units

We've continued to discuss this but can't really get any further than that the sentence is ambigious. We have rules which state: ⋅  Models within x" ⋅  Units within x" ⋅  Models in units within x" Just using the English language the third one can't defini...

Volley Fire, Models and Units

We're having a bit of an argument in my local group about the wording of the Volley Fire rule from Fireblades. The wording is "Models in <SEPT> units within 6" of any friendly <SEPT> Cadre Fireblades [...]" Is this to be interpreted as that only models within 6" get the bonus or ...

New kickstarter any good?

I stumbled across this Kickstarter that has some very Tau-ish buildings and fortifications. So close they might get GW on them I guess.. They seem to have tried before but failed, but.. I'm tempted. That Skyshield Landing Pad looks sleek and the bunker looks better than my own I've made. One warning...

Forgeworld Tau

Looks like two of the hammerhead turrets (plasma, missiles) are back, maybe they're revamping their line as well as their website?

At least I think they were gone..
