Nope, no source, just looking at the model.

The LBBC has 4 long barrels, this gun has 6.

Now, I don't know how and if the NOVA profile will come into play (I hope it does, its a really crappy main cannon without it), but its a heavy burst cannon for sure.

Nah its not that bad. Certainly not the soundest option regrettably, but still.... what was it ? 8shots S6 AP4 or something like that ? Thats not so bad, and is still a slight improvement over the Long barreled BC. If Barracuda maintains its current BS like in the current iteration and maybe gets one extra HP to even out with the GW flyers, than its going to be a solid weapon against most other fliers, FMC, and such. Certainly the Nova profile would be more amazing, but depends what other weapon system the new Barracuda MKII packs.
I think its surely better than one template weapon that becomes worthless once you are forced to Jink.

Would be real interesting if they gave it a heavy burst cannon along with the nova reactor.
But then I'd assume (since that's how it works on the Riptide) that the other main weapon systems would have a nova profile too.
I don't think that's going to be the case. Sadly.

The basic heavy burst cannon sounds good enough for me as fighter main weapon. Without any markerlight and with BS3 it's still 2 wounds against AV10 and one wound if they decide to jink.

This looks simply amazing! I never picked up the previous version because I didn't quite like the aesthetics, but this one I can get behind. And those weapon options! Looks like they made the main weapons, if not the secondaries, magnet friendly, too.
I wonder if that rear turret could also be some form of countermeasures.

Despite my initial drooling over its appearance, I think there are a few conversion surgeries I'll need to perform. Specifically around the nose. Not sure what those would be, yet though.

I'm curious to know if we're going get a PDF for this before the new IA book comes out.

EDIT: I finally realized why I like it so much. It's design reminds me of Core aircraft from Total Annihilation.

I can't remember. Did they give us the pdf for the xv104 variants when they released them at, was it games day? Warhammerfest? Or did we wait for it?

I concur. The Barracuda is obviously going to be our "interceptor" and when you look at the other options there is no reason to add a Nova reactor, especially on our mass-produced fighter.
The regular HBC profile is perfect for engaging other light aircraft, if you want it to be able to punch armour then you just upgrade to the Ion, the Rail weapon (Please, please, please don't let it be a heavy rail rifle...), or use your Seekers.

I am very excited about this. The Death From the Skies book didn't do anything to help our flyers and only made things worse for our already mediocre air support. Fingers crossed that this beauty puts us back on top in terms of air superiority. I had already resigned myself to suffering a permanent -1 to my reserve rolls just for playing Tau.

It always bugged me that in the fluff we stressed air dominance (Taros campaign), but our flyers were all either overpriced or lacking.

O
M
G

I NEED 4! YESTERDAY!

Best aircraft I've seen in any GW/FW line. And new wepaons to boot! I wouldn't even care if it becomes 150p now (at least give it 3HP, FW!)
The new side weapons are good enough to justify fielding these. No more dummy S5 AP5, I want S7 AP4!

I think you didn't understand me right there. What i said was that it doesn't need the nova charge to be effective. Also fighter = interceptor. The other roles are attack flyer and bomber.

Das'Kyman was actually saying he agrees with your assessment. In English to "concur" also means to "agree"

-Sorry, for the quick off topic English lesson. As you all were :D

Huh, not half bad. I imagine in the new fluff, the Barracuda is going to be a heavy fighter/attack craft as opposed to the smaller, regular -Shark craft.

I wonder what the model price would be. I honestly never picked up an old Barracuda because for something that small, it felt pricey even for FW.

This has made my day, I am going to get 3. No better time to start on my air caste element to my army. I am predicting these will go out of stock very briefly, same way the Tau'nar did upon release.

It will be interesting to see what FW do with formations and these. 2 of them and a tiger shark?

I think the different weapon options maybe different variants rules wise

If they do a formation with 2 'cudas and an ax-1-0 i would need to change my panties.
Anything that gives me an excuse to play the Tigershark and I'm all giddy. Add in the new Baracuda and it'll be Christmas.

It might not even be that inconceivable considering the recent trend in 2x one flyer escorting another. The only hindrance for that just might be the fact both are FW models and FW and GW don't always share their conventions.

that, and that the tigershark is beyond saving with a formation, given how poor the actual pricetag is.

A longer neck and two fins instead of one, it's fairly close to the old one in design, and the thinner wings I prefer.

Does the old Cuda use Hammerhead-level armament for ion or Riptide level armament for Ion, because without checking I had thought it was tank-grade. Makes me wonder if there's going to be a single tank-grade burst cannon profile (Not the old TL version) for the hammerhead with the same profile as the cuda's new burst cannon. I also wonder if the IA14 announcement is this weekend or not.

It was the Hammerhead Ion Cannon.
