Some people have noted that the new AX-1-0 rail cannons are pretty similar to the Tau'nar's

The redesigns are more subtle than on the new Barracuda IMO, but lookin' good! At least I can have a new Tiger Shark with better fitting parts and wingtips that don't get lost...

Just saw this over on Dakka:

Looks like we might get that new FW book early next year.

Merged the New Tigershark thread with the existing Tigershark - Missing thread. I'll likely change the name to reflect this new information. —ARC

Take note of the railgun design—identical to the new railgun used by the 139.

I'm wondering if this means the Tigershark is going to solidify it's role as a "bomber" by using the blast profile of the 139's variant (likely twin-linked):
Heavy Rail Cannon: S:D, Ordnance 1, Blast (3"), Mass-induction Targeting.

Also, it seems to have the same secondary weapon options as the new Barracuda: LBBCs or CIBs.

Looking forward to seeing the new rules, and some more pictures, to answer some questions about the model (is there a drone rack?)

Eh, I'm not keen on it being blast, I always liked blowing flyers out with a heavy railgun shot up the hiney.

Thanks Arc'thunder, I didn't see the post.

I've been chatting with some folks and there seems to be a strong indication a new FW book with Tau and the war around Kel'shan. Obviously we're not a rumor site and there's always salt, but there is a lot of transparency being adopted by GW.

The speculation part is more about how it will reflect with the real war brewing= the new version of the 13th Black Crusade. Since we weren't in the last one and the 3rd Sphere has already come and gone, perhaps it makes sense that we're now on the defensive, not unlike the Imperium.

But that's probably for another thread.

The new IA Tau v AdMech isn't speculation anymore. It's been confirmed at the past two Warhammer events through conversations with the teams, and reportedly due out (mid?) next year, but with HH:Inferno being the first priority on FW's list.

Here's a slide from Warhammer Fest in May? I think?

A major point of the book is not only to update Tau, but to also introduce new Red Scorpions models, and bring 30k Mechanicum models into 40k.

To be fair, I'm not sure it's going to be a blast weapon, but visual cues like this are, usually, chosen for a specific reason. In this case, I think it's an informed guess that this might be the 139's heavy rail cannon instead of Tigershark's existing heavy railgun based not only on the visuals, but also because the blast templates would better fit the theme of a "bomber".

However, ForgeWorld loves giving every model special rules and wargear, so it may be that we get a swiftstrike heavy rail cannon or something with a solid slug instead. Or it might just be a visual update to the rail-line in general—but if that were the case I would expect it to look more like the standard rail muzzles on the new Barracuda or the Manta instead. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later.

Out of curiosity do you think it's possible that there might be more than one book? Seems like it has more to do with Guard... Maybe it's just musings. Either way I'll post here if anything becomes clearer.

Edit: It was backstory info in the beginning of the book, like the Raptors in Taros. My bad.

The books seem to be building up to us developing true FTL travel on par with the IoM since its been a long recurring plot point and its even more desperately needed now with the gulf the way it is. I'm pretty sure this book will be a loss for us though since they said they based it off a cool diorama of the Tau fighting a Titan Legion which they were losing.

I, er, think the Tau are already meant to have FTL, it's just rather poorly defined.
