How do you play tau in 7th? The new person Chronicles

Hey guys,

Been a Space marine player for some time.

My roomate picked up 40k after many years absent. We got in near the end of 7th. So he plays ultras. I just got my getting started with tau empire box.

Trying to figure out what units were effective against space marines. Also against Tau and Necrons.

So far I got three crisis suits. A squad of pathfinders and a devilfish. A piranah and some drones.

Plan on buying a tidewall. And a hammer head and cmdr x2

I melted the fire warriors in a paint striping fail.

So I think I will get another getting started set.

Are broadsides effective in 7th?

Even if you're playing 7th for now you've got to consider you'll move to 8th eventually, so perhaps don't only buy what's good for 7th!
Sounds like a good start though

Missilesides are good. They are the all missile loadout. For other stuff, tide walls are nice if you play on an open battlefield. Ghoskeels are nice if you have cover or just anyways.

Good luck,

I can't convince myself to take ghostkeels in 8th... if I want a Melta weapon I'll just take a Commander, if I want an Ion weapon I'll just take CIB or Ion-finders.

I would appreciate your take on their benefits.

I agree. From a pure rules-perspective there is little convincing about the Ghostkeel. I only take it because it fits my armys theme and because I love its fluff and design.
