Its true that no (average) gamer like me and many many other would ever be able to afford this beast or anything made by forgeworld save for the smaller bits.

GW could have put money and resources into something more useful...but has GW ever followed such logic. the scary thing is this model is more than my car payment...heck its several car payments, rent, and utilities... excuse me while I hug the mighty porcaline gawd :dead:

Let's get real here. Forge World isn't really GW. There more like a small subset and they're not targeting the vast majority of gamers. Forge World make specialist models for a very small niche market. They are not even trying to aim for mass market appeal. They really couldn't care less. Just look at the "standard" forge world models. They are all prohibitively expensive. The Manta was never gonna be cheap. Just look at the Orca.

Now as for the "GW are wasting their time we could have got a new tank/model/shiny gubbin' instead" argument. If your a Tau gamer (which I'm assuming you are ;) ) Then you're being incredibly selfish as we have the lion's share of FW models. I'd say it's only the IG who come even remotely close to having the same number of FW models. With all those Battlesuits/Turrets/Tanks/Aircraft/Drones/Equipment that you can already buy as a Tau gamer I don't think we have anything to complain about. In fact if anything we should be incredibly grateful that FW have carried this project through. It's an awesome testament to the skill and dedication of the FW staff.

Oh and even if you not talking about us getting another new FW model... hello. New Codex?! A lot of people are still unhappy (mostly Eldar players methinks) that we got a new codex and new models out of the presumed order of things. So again we have little to complain about. Oh and finally how many of us even own every single GW Tau model let alone all their expansive FW collection? Very few I'd guess, so please can we stop whinging. We knew they were making this. We knew it was gonna be expensive. We knew it'd be the most expensive FW model ever and if anything we should all be good enough to congratulate them. By the sounds of it the creation of this model was something of a personal crusade for it's designer and it looks like a dream was realised in resin.

Congratulations Forge World and keep up the good work. I look forward to you guys shattering the boundaries of my expectations again.

Actually, there are several on here who already owns peices from FW. I'm fortuneate enough to live within driving distance of a store that has close ties to GW and FW. Which means I get to see the stuff before I buy it. In fact, for any of you who have bought the summer campain booklet, you'll see the name of the owner of the buisness in a paragraph that says, "Thanks to...."

The best part of FW though is they give me ideas. Granted, my things may not look as good as thiers, but it's origonal. Which means more to me than the $5k I'd spend on ther stuff if I had it to spare. Which reminds me, I need to go finish that model I've been working on for the last 2 months.

I never said anyone didn't. In fact I own a few bits and pieces myself including the Barracuda! In fact I know quite a few of us own several of the FW models. However I what I did say is I doubt any of us own all the FW Tau range. The reality is though while most people are bemoaning the fact we didn't get anything we could use in a normal game of 40K we are still incredibly fortunate to have so many FW models aimed at us. Just look at the Necrons. I bet they aren't too happy about Tau getting their 'Titan' while they only have the pylon.....

I do have to agree with you on that Flash we (as Tau gamers) are fortunate to have the amount of models from FW that we do, I just wish most of the prices were not out of my range.

But you get what you pay for and the FW models are better quality that the stanard GW model :fear:

Lots of FW peaces? :? have I missed a couple of tau sections on the website  , compared to space marines and guard we have not that much, we could do with a few more tank designs and battle suit makes rather than rehash of current XV models. :?

I for one love that FW have made this model, it is a physical incarnation of the power of the tau, after all nearly all other "major" races have a titan(orks will have their stompa soon enough) why should we not have one and the best one to boot as well!

You know who'll more likely than not get a Manta? Brian Clevinger. He's probably one of the most famous T'au supporters ever... and if he doesn't get a Manta, I don't who will... besides me, when I get a job. All my paychecks will straight into FW and GW pockets...

Mikey Likes! I could easily spend that much on lots of little FW things.. whether I'd trade all those for the Manta.. hard to say, a Tiger Shark is feasible though..

If they sold those pieces apart from the set, I'd be all over them though!!!!
