[Resource] Alternate Defence Line & Tau-style scenery

Starting over by browsing MicroArtStudio website for some Discworld figs, I found some things interesting for modelling ideas (or buying) for Tau-style Aegis Defense Line (an item who became very useful in many 6th lists)
I've added then other concepts form other manufacturers by my own research or people suggestions

If you know about other concepts or have purchased some, you can give links to website (to be added in the OP) or write a review (to be linked in the replies).

PlastCraft Games
These Spanish people have precut plastic sheets to assemble.
Some interesting ranges for cheap, some designed for Infinity which are a match for Tau aesthetic too :

Personal reviews (no flamewars about these, they are my own opinions and yours are welcome):
- The Micro Art Studio fits the better the Tau-style. Working on some of their other products, their casting and materials are very hobbyist friendly.
- Chapterhouse model are a funded Kickstarter, but not produced at this time. Their design is good, but seems lesser Tau than Micro Art Studio one.
- Mr Dandy better fits the Aegis shape but seems too blocky and lacks some curves. Turret guns are also not very tau-style.
- Arcane Miniatures scenery fits well a sci-fi design other than "gothic", but their claim "designed for Infinity" is worthful: you don't recognize that as Tau items without placing a model near.
- BurninDesigns "energy barrier" is a good idea, with our easy access to energy shields in our fluff. Their style may be refined to fit Tau style maybe. And also, their Laser Defense walls seems to have a bigger footprint that standard Aegis, and this can be a drawback, like in closed configurations.

EDITS:
2013-09-19 : As the suggestions and concepts grows, I've edited the OP and title to clarify the reading of the thread.

They do look quite pretty.

...so much so that I've ordered both a defence line, and one of the buildings.

@Sholto and Bitterman
I would enjoy any comments about the cast, quality, service and feeling about the micro art studio kit (their metal Discworld minis and their resin scenery bases are very nice and well casted, but don't have much money to spend on the defence line these days)
If you want, I will link your reviews in the OP.

I ordered a defense line from the Chapterhouse kickstarter. I'll put up a review when I eventually get it.

The models listed under Deisgned for Infinity from Arcane Miniatures by Micro Art Studio work well, especially if playing Kill Team games.

I have had my eye on the Energy Barricade or the Laser defense wall from Burn in Designs for awhile.

On second thoughts, this should be a resource. I'll transfer this after making a sticky out of it :)

Thanks for your work Kael'yn :)

I don't think the Mr Dandy ones are great for Tau, but the Ork and Eldar ones are just fantastic.

Just gave these a browse again for the modelling archive on my desktop. I've got to say - looking at all this garage/boutique creativity, GW really is behind the 8-ball on their own product.

They really need to assist Forgeworld in cranking out their turnaround of unique and interesting additions to the core games.

Wow, put as a resource so soon.. That unexpected and very appreciated !
Many thanks Tael

And you're right, GW really need to put some love to xeno, mutants and heretics sometime for scenery (even some of these races can use "converted" imperial scenery).
We need more variety on our "ruined gothic" tablescapes

@Bitterman
Obviously, many small companies making defense line don't only does it for Tau ...
And some fits better with other races styles ... But its a matter of tastes.

I received mine yesterday:

Image

Very good casts with no bubbles or voids I can see. Quite a plasticky resin, very smooth and a little oily. These should paint up a treat, and no clean up needed other than a quick wash.

...and mine arrived today! Much the same impression, except I did notice quite a few bubbles... but almost all were on the underside of the base and hence not visible... only one was on the part of the model that matters, will just need a tiny blob of putty to fix. Also a very slight clean up needed with some resin flash.

I mention these things only for rigorous completeness - I expect clean-up will take less than five minutes (plus a quick wash), I'm very happy with them. I'm planning to add a Tau Empire symbol on the big sections, somehow, before I paint them; probably using plasticard or something. They are (as Sholto's photo shows) a little on the tall side, Fire Warriors can only just aim their pulse rifles over them, but I don't think that will be a problem.

Wind vane / building / thing also arrived, will take a bit more preparation and I'll report back when that's done.

Original ADL is quite high too (2,25 cm in the lower section, upper section hide totally a FW)

They are a bit tall, but do look well casted. The upright sections are my favourite piece so far.

Looks great!

This thread aided me in picking up one of these defense lines and I love it!

Will definitely post pics of my own once I've got it painted!

I've also been eyeing one of the Tau styled bunkers from here and will be picking one up sometime this week I think.
I'll be sure to post feedback on the quality once I have mine!
