Home made sniper teams.

Ive bee nthinking about using sniper teams for abit as they look pretty tasty against MEQs which are my usual enemy.

THe main thing holding me back was the fact that spending £15 on what was basically 3 drones and a FW seemed a little off to me.

Soooo, I made my own out of Bitz I had knocking about.

They were just flung together in the last five mins and are held together with blu tack but I think they look pretty spiffy.

They are still (very) rough mockups. Let me know what you think.

Parts are basically a gundrone plus Dfish landing gear, & sensor spines.

The landing gear was used to provide recoil absorbtion as a floaty drone firing a rail rifle would be experiencing some heavy duty recoil.

(And yes, the spotter is a crappy paintjob but he was just a tester for that scheme originally.)

I like them, however i would take some of the pulse carbine bits your not using for the drones and modify them to pad out the rest of the drone (adding antenna, extra technical looking bits)

Yea pretty nice job !

Not sure I like the claws though.

And maybe you could beef up the firewarrior a bit more.

But as I said, I like where this is going. Needs some work though

Consider adding stabilizing wings on the underside of the drone.

Otherwise, the landing assembly bits (the claw! Dun dun dun!) throw it off a bit and make it look a little clunky. Maybe clip the strut from the dum and leave the drum to commect up the rifle to the drone. Also, add in a rear mounted ammo drum. Maybe not something like the boxy one GW went with, but maybe a burst cannon ammo drum (rearmost thing on he cannon) or even two! Lastly, some sort of additional optical equipment would probably be needed to show the drone's HW Targetting Array and TLock. Otherwise it'd just seem to be a gun drone with a bigger gun (which the normal snipe drones aren't).

my two bitz to the heap.

consider turnign the parts from the landing gear sideways and adding an ammo drum and some sort of sensor to each one...then it would be awsome.

i to have been trying to build a cheap snipoer drone alturnative

if you have flame thrower bits they would look good on the back end

*Decloaks*

Been doing the exact same thing for my "All Plastic All The Time" Tau army.

My drones are a little more "obvious". Regarding yours I'd observe they look a little front heavy.

I'd consider modelling some vanes onto the rear. Trouble is it's going to use a lot of bits to do that. Ideally I'd have two of the multitracker vanes on each one but that's a little too much for anyone to do with a part that's so often used.

For comparison here's mine along with the controller's "Heavy Stealth Marker Drone".

Not immediately but it's as simple a conversion as they come.

1. Take pulse rifle
2. Cut out middle section
3. Stick back together
4. Remove sight
5. Er...
6. That's it :)
