I love how spindly the suit is, but the Fusion Blaster is not anchored near firm enough in my opinion -it looks like it's floating off by itself!

Thank you so much red'gue'vesa :) :) :)

Thank you also to you Raverrn, I'm in accord with you with the anchorage of the fusion blaster, I'm going to fit this particular :)

So...

having lots of bits and casted pieces from my first own suit models, I've decided to realize a twin for my XV78 Vulcan.
During the sculpting and scratchbuilding work I've decided to try the adding of a custom (big) jetpack in order to fit better my suits models with the Tau design, and this is the result:

Image

I like so much this addition to XV78 and for this reason I've decided to add a jetpack also on the first model :fear: :fear: :fear:

What do you think?

Excelsior¡... the desings are Tau indeed, but makes me think in another time period, 1st. expansion maybe? or the future...by the way, how many years has the BattleSuit and firewarriors combat armor desing?, I mean, I see the same kind of Armors and Suits in the ilustrations of Farsight early years, that the ones seen again in the last Damocles books¡, don't you think is kinda weird?

I'm in accord with you El ZorDack, Farsight Enclaves design (and all that belong to the Farsight Enclave idea) need something different IMHO in its design, not only a change in colour scheme. Think about Lord Dirk art work

However I've added jetpack to the previous XV78 and this is the result:

Another with Firewarriors

I've also started the painting of the XV8:

The "design-vibe" they have is... unusual. It's like a déjà vu from something that might have originated in the eighties...
I really like it. It works best in those photos where it is combined with other units from your army. Those other units give the design a "setting" and a coherency - it fits in very well, far better than it would in a regular Tau army.

Yeah, that group shot really gives you the scale of the thing. I think it's fabulous.

Thank you joc-wi!!! I'm in accord with you, it has much more sense in its group with the same design, and it has been designed and thought exactly for this reason, to be coherent with this "retro" and "sci-fi/apocalyptic" beheviour. :)

Thank you also to you Raverrn! It is a little bit "high" respect the infantry :P

In the beginning I've realized XV78 for my Cadre commander, but then I've decided to make another XV78. Having two exemplar of XV78 I've decided to realize another battlesuit for my commander, something similar to the XV78 but more "experimental" respect the two previous exemplars... so this is my XV72 Vulcan TESTYPE, it should be the testype before the realization of the mass production models:

Image

I've used some parts of my dismissed battlesuits, realizing a battlesuit with a design that is very similar to the Vulcan Mass Production design. This is the model without weapons, instead this is the model with two swords (I've changed a little bit also the design of the weapon, infact in this version the "blade" is not transparent, it is made from a coloured plastic, something brown or similar, and the tip is not sharp but rounded):

I really love the forearms and hands on this model; what parts are those and do you have other angles of view on them?

Thank you BabaGanoosh! In part they are pieces from FW pulse carbine and pieces from flamer and burst cannon from Crisis weaponry. Next days I'm going to add a pair of jetpaks on the suit, when I'll do some photos of those one I'll do more photos of the arms!

I forget if this was already established- but where is the hexagonal plastic coming from?

Pity I have been so flat out in RL; great thread - always wondered what would happened when you Onosified a regualr XV8.

Gorgeous work as usual.

For BabaGanoosh: as I promised some posts ago here three pics about the single arm with more details:

For Calmsword: The transparent plastic that I usually employ comes from the rigid CD cover, for coloured transparent plastic, you can find it everywhere, for exemple from a ruler, at home I've green, brown and orange plastic to use! hexagon are made with a cutter.

For Tael: Don't worry Tael ;)

Hi ATT!!!

In these days I've worked on an old project that, during its evolution, changed a lot but maintains its general idea. It all starts from this picture found on DeviantArt by Artcobain years ago:
Image

I've also made an auxiliary model following this design two or three years ago!

The idea was a sort of model representing an errant alien or group of aliens, carrying on their backs bags and other things, like desert bedouins, following the stream of the design of Artcobain but in my case with a Tau Empire style. So two months ago I've decided to realize a group of big errant battlesuits (instead of simple aliens), heavily weathered, merging my actual battlesuits style with the idea shown previously. These are the pics of the sculpted chest:

Image

and some painted pics:

I've also started to paint its weaponry:

And I've other two of these that I'm going to paint in these weeks!

What do you think about these miniatures?

What do I think he says so casually. ;)

I've seen that artwork before and really like the idea of incidental aliens that tau can come across in more campaign driven battles. I'm actually working toward this myself also - aiming to have a small combat team that do "interesting" missions.

The model so far look very cool and I like the idea of extended deployment in any unit for that extra level of detail.

So far this guy looks like a Fio'Ui in a long range survey role, exploring a region for potential habitation/mining etc.

Hi to all ATT!!!
I've been far away from here for work and university, but sometimes I've time to work on my Tau and to post something! And I'm glad to see that the site has a new (WONDERFUL) restyling!!! It is AMAZING!!!

I've worked on two small models but also on a big battlesuit, in fact I've finished my second XV78, base included!

Image

I've used the same colour scheme of my previous XV78, but this is heavily weathered.

What do you think? Comments and questions are always welcome!

Again the really impressive details and etching - the collection is definitely unique and I always admire your ochre tones for the colour scheme. At a glance there appears very little original kit parts, is this model a complete scratchbuild?

Thak you very much Tael, glad to read your appreciations about the colour scheme :)
For what concernes the sculpting, XV78 is completely scratchbuilt and handmade, only four small pieces come from Tau Empire kits, two small antennas are on the left and right knees of XV78, the other two pieces, a small antenna and the small shield generator, are on the left arm, the first on the top of the cannon and the second near the hand.
Torso, intakes, arms, legs, hands, feet, sensors and sensor head, jetpaks and weaponry are completely handmade!
