It gives 2 other poses by combining 2kits: one pose with the two extended legs (one modified, the other none) and one with the two folded (one modified, the other none).
If you really need a set of poseable legs for broadside, I can see what can be done (it's the rear clamp that will be difficult to assemble at this scale).

I would love to see more Piranha bits. A top cover that completely covers the top like you have on the stormsurge would be amazing.

I'm due to receive an order from Shapewyas tomorrow. I got the Stormsurge set to let me arm mount the missile pods and the cover for the cockpit. Can't wait to see them and will post pics as I go :)

I think that once my Cadre is fully-painted, my reward will be a Stormsurge with missile arms. Might grab the cockpit cover as well. :)

Got my Shapeways parts, they fit amazingly well, I spent this afternoon drilling out the original dome mount for the missile launchers to sculpt in some detail. I can't wait to get some paint on these to see how they work!

Piranha enclosed cockpit could be done, but modelling the hull will take much time. It is a good idea, and I may try it, but don't expect a result soon.

CoffeeGrunt
You're welcome ;).

Bambua
Thanks. I am eager to see your model once done.

A quick update from my holidays work these days:
All models are to be finalized when I will have time in the next weeks (hopefully). Feel free to add comments about them.

Shoulder guards (for Stormsurge, but could be resized to other models like riptide, ...).
Image
3 versions done, based on Broadside (first) Firewarrior (2nd) Crisis (3rd) shoulder guards designs
I want to add another version too, based on the Riptide/Farsight design (multiple interlocked band plates).

If the sept symbol is not added on them it's because I had also worked on these parts:
Fire caste
Image
Air caste
Image
Other castes are in process, but these two will be the most useful, I guess.
Once I get a proper shape, they will be resized according to the models dimensions

Sept symbols are ready (I have all the models in the proper size)
I made several sizes to fit our models:
diameter (mm): 2 , 2.5 , 3 , 3.5 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 , 12

I will try these solutions:
- a palette mold of each size, for greenstuff duplicating (I need to check if the GS sticks too much in the mold). Price will be around $20.
- a set of one symobl per size, in case someone want to make silicon/Instamold casts (current test gives cost around $10).
- a mixed batch to fit most of needs (Estimated final price will depend of sprues needed for the smaller symbols, but it will be around $50):
  • 20x ( 2 , 2.5 , 3 , 3.5 ) for breachers shoulders, stealth, drones, small appliances
  • 50x ( 4 , 5 ) for firewarriors shoulders, crisis, hazard
  • 30x ( 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 ) for broadsides, ghostkeel, riptide, stormsurge, small vehicles
  • 10x ( 10 , 12 ) for riptide & stormsurge shields, large vehicles

I found that Firecaste symbol is almost the same than Bungie's Marathon videogame:
Image
So I am not sure the tau sept symbols are IP protected. If someone that have better infos about coypright issues that can arise, please PM me.

On the other side, I am still working on alternate shoulder guards designs.
Do you people think it will worth to propose them to Crisis/Broadside/Infantry/Stormsurge/Riptide size ?
Since my free time melt like snow under the sun these days, I have less time to work on 3D models, so I need to review priorities based on what most of people need.

Prototypes sent to printers (sept symbols and shoulder guards)
I added the banded shoulder guard and rescaled all to stormsurge/riptide/broadside/crisis scale
https://www.shapeways.com/model/3dtools/5403266/3/61?key=bc57d8b0797f2643d7b79560a54f446a for the 3D view.

Shoulder guards will be put on sale around mid december if everything goes right.
This will be my last new models until march or April 2017 due to job overload.
Again, share comments and ideas on their design.

Quick update on my spare free time:
I decided to open the 3D printed Caste symbols for open Beta. My own protoypes sits in my bitz box, because I lack time to test them on the battlesuits and vehicles and post decent pics. So if you order some, please give your inputs to help me refine them.

The featured item is Enclave (Air and Fire caste symbols in 3 different packs), but others could be done.
https://www.shapeways.com/product/GUATAY2F9/quot-renegades-quot-unit-badges
I provided only a "master" set to be copied by press-mold (tried one sample with green-stuff and Milliput on Oyumaru/InstaMold and it worked good).
I will try mostly to work by order on them, so PM here or on Shapeways if you need a specific batch (symbol, composition, shapes, dimensions, ...).

Shoulder guard prototypes are done, but they need shape rework to fit the battlesuits and more polygons to be smoothed properly. I may work on them by the end of April if I have enough time.

I have also a project to add a new pair of arms to hold the Stormsurge main gun 2 handed like the new Broadside HRR. It will be done after the shoulder guards.

Also, I saw on Shapeways an how-to for painting on Shapeways "Frosted" printed plastic.
It may be for some help if you ordered some of items in this material:

Just picked up a set of your sharp riptide shoulders. Been eyeing them for awhile and realized I still had time to throw them on my riptide.

Looking forward to putting them to use. Keep up the great work!

Important notice for Shapeways designers and customers
Shapeways is going to change the Frosted material prices, that may lead to prices going up or down based on multiple factors on 3D models.

As for me, once I will get the new prices, I will review all my models when I will have time to get them cheaper if possible or at least not increase prices while retaining quality (with the new orientation choice they will offer).

So please wait if you see a price increase on one item, it will be fixed (hopefully) by this summer.

From a recent shapeways email about FUD:

Starting on May 22nd:
- Instead of charging just for your model's FUD material volume, the new pricing uses five factors, giving you transparency and a new level of control: Startup cost, Per Part cost, Model Material Volume, Support Material and Machine Space.
- New visualizations for Support Material and Machine Space will be available in the FUD 3D tools.
- The startup cost has dropped from $5 to to $3.50
- The Model Material going down from $3.50/cc to $0.75/cc gives you more freedom use the material you need to make the design just right.

Seems like reducing wall thickness ie. from 1mm to 0.5mm won't bring any real saving, which is good thing on it's own, since the resin costs nothing in such small volumes. But overall let's wait what they'll charge for mashine space...

Yeah, I am still looking on how to balance the new 5-factor price to have models still cheap but (hopefully) sturdier.
There are Shapeways forums where advantages are discussed, often with angry words from designers who need to change all their models to avoid price increase, specially on hollow models. I have few models, but I share their pain, as most of all my models need to be redesigned to avoid large hollow models.
I will probably move again to half shells for gauntlets and shoulders, but there are also drawbacks for that.
May 22nd will be hot on model reviews...

I ordered the cockpit cover and the missile arms for both of my Stormsurges (frosted ultra detail for everything). I thought I would share my thoughts. The fit is near-perfect. The end-product is relatively smooth on flat and angular surfaces, but curved or rounded surfaces come out a little rough. I was a bit impatient and I wanted to see everything together so I didn't spend a ton of time sanding. I think you could end up with a better result than I did. Probably best to use something like sandpaper to sand the rounded/curved surfaces. The bits are pretty fragile, I actually broke one arm and had to order an extra set. All in all, I am very happy with the end result. I'm not finished painting this model, but you can still see what I ended up with. I definitely would recommend it to a friend. Thanks Kael'yn!

Thanks for the review! Great looking work so far then :D

3D team, do you want to put this as a review on its own or keep it within the update thread? Either way, great feedback Chaplain_Sam :)
