sprue odd bits

Was tidying up my sprues for my XV8s and came across piece 72. As far as i can see it doesn't appear in the instructions. It also seems to be the only one there. It looks like a weird horseshoe.

So was wondering
a. does anyone know what this piece is and where it came from. my guess is that it is a bit used in a previous version of the instructions.

b. has anyone come across any random bits that don't get used?

I don't recall there being any unused bits, but could you post a picture?

As posted earlier on these very forums (about 2 years ago) it covered the top of one of the arms that has a cut away to allow it to be more dynamic in case you wanted a stock old-school arm pose

i have found the forum you were talking about ( viewtopic.php?f=35&t=24873)

could have used that piece on my first batch of xv8s, but hey ho the gap is covered by the shoulder pad and the thruster.

Ah, that little piece! Yeah, you won't really notice it. I don't even use shoulder pads on my XV8s (I prefer the old style) and it's still unnoticeable.
