Thanks Majonga for the c&c.

It is extensive collection and it seems like I never stopped painting over the last 4 years or so :nice: . When all the models are used in an Apocalypse battle it can look stunning. I tend to collect models that I like the look of or on impulse due to a good price, hence the waiting list at present.

There are no Forgeworld models in the collection. The Turrets and Sensor mast are made from foam and bits using the line diagrams provided in IA3 for scale purposes. The turrets started life as a foam cone from an art shop and with a bit of carefull cutting and using two XV8 arms and a bit of sprue match quite closely to the FW model. The sensor tower is a sanded foam cylinder with a bit of K'nex, a lego antenna (don't tell my son  ) and a drone disc.

For the basing I spray an undercoat of black then use PVA to glue on a layer of sand. When dry this is given a wash of very watered down brown mixer for white wall paint (comes in 500ml bottles and lasts for a long time). This tends to leave what looks like a highlighted effect without having to highlight. A few dabs of glue then a gravel effect scatter from a model railway shop, a few more dabs for the static grass and all done. The different shades of base was because I started basing using Chestnut Ink but this has been discontinued so I had to look for an alternate.

Really :O wow, I was almost sure those were the models off of forgeworld. Obviously I could go for a closer shot and maybe I would see the difference, but well done those really have come out looking like the real thing (from this angle anyway).

I have been a bit bad this week.

As well as painting 1 XV8 in my standard scheme my attention was on finishing a commission piece for a friend.

I am quite pleased how he turned out but the pictures, in this much detail, show up every little mistake (drat!) :(

Will be returning to Tau soon, loads to do.

Very, VERY nice work!

I really like the overall look and the spear is superb. and the cape

If I can just point out one little, tiny detail: the eyes. ATM they are a bit lifeless. don't know how to fix that though. Ill leave that to the paint experts.

Thanks Yami Kero - I agree 100% about the eyes.

I will take any advice as this is the first time I have done yellow eyes and I ran out of ideas....

Try adding a light golden yellow wash, then drybrush your yellow you used mixed with white on the lens and finally add a white dot on the upper corner of the eye toward the back of the helmet.

Terminitorinhell,

I will give it a go and upload the new picture when complete.

I was thinking of finishing the eyes off with a coat of gloss varnish for that extra sparkle.

Time for the next weekly update and as promised I have returned to the Tau.

I decided this week to complete 3 Krootox that have been sitting around for ages. I spent a few days in spring tidying up the models. They where all badly fitting and took plenty of filing, rebending and filling to get a good fit. Has anyone else suffered this problem with these models?

Once this was done the actual painting took 2 solid evenings of work and this time I decided to count how many seperate colours I used - 25 including inks and washes.

And here is the full Kindred (so far).

Waiting on the desk are 28 Kroot for another player in my club. Busy, Busy.

Comments as usual please.
