Just see the new Marine Mastodon, and its top machinegun seems familiar :

According to BoLS:

That article was from July 5th, and it appears you posted your rendition a good month+ after? :D

Thanks Jeffar to amend my mistake...
And sorry paulson , I used the direct image link from Spikey but forgot to link the page.

The two support on the sides of the barrels struck me the time I see the new mastodon.
They are something not common : I looked for scifi minigun images to check my first impression but none so far shows this feature.

But you look more serious with 6 barrels instead of 4... Tau win again !

Single barrel support is not uncommon, specially under the barrels (hey, even the assault cannon of 40k has one under). But having both on top and bottom of the barrel and bracing the muzzle, is a design thing I first see on your model, then on the Mastodon.
I am not a hard fan of Macross-genre armory, so maybe I missed something on the road.

C&D GW ? That would have been funny...

It's also not like GW hasn't had some form of barrel support on a rotary weapon before:

As I said, but it have only one, under (like Imperium other heavies: laser canoon, autocannon, ...) and supporting an unique muzzle (silly: your barrels spinning speed is then tied to the projectile speed, kind of ridiculous and dangerous is something slow down a little your bullet...).

Original Gatling has support on the left/right, not under/over, and they not brace all the muzzles at once.

And in GW "borrowing", there is also Heinlein "Marines in Drop-podded Power Armor with Jetpack", "Hive mind" and "cheapless insectoid fodder" are also Orson Card Formics, ...
Thanks for this history lesson (some details have escaped me, like the Dune knock-off)
It's hard to be original when doing sci-fi/fantasy designs, specially if you want something recognizeable for sale to newcomers...

In all honesty, the fact that GW melds so many elements from classic Sci-Fi and Anime Mech (Hell, Battletech, Macross and Patlabor fandom is what led me to play Tau in the first place) is what I like about it. You could say that the idea for Anthropomorphic robots in modern media was ripped off from Fritz Lang, but then again, I think Talos was an Ancient Greek myth about a Bronze Automaton -- come to think of it, isn't that word constructed from Greek roots?

To be fair, Dune was inspired by the 1950s struggle for political/ideological dominance in the middle-east-- which makes sense considering Herbert's education and profession when writing the books. Replace "Spice" with "Crude Oil," and "House Harkonnen" with the Stalinist/Russian/Socialist influence that were prevalent in the middle-east at that time, since after WW2 and the Marshall Plan, Russia has been trying to use its control over energy resources and saw the middle-east as its main competition/potential business partners. Also, replace "House Atreides" (which itself was drawn from the ancient Greek, Homer) with the western influence vying for Spice, erm, Oil (Capitalism/Liberalism, and the promise of "independence and self-governance").

Actually, pretty much everything-- from Walt Disney to William Shakespeare-- was ripped off from the Ancient Romans, who copied the Ancient Greeks, who were influenced by the Persians, who stole from Assyrians, Egyptians, Sumerians, etc.

Also, I like your work Paulson, I ordered your CIB alternatives when I first saw them on eBay-- I ordered two batches of 6. They're super easy to magnetize, and they look gorgeous painted. I plan to order more, and possibly pick up some of the Not-AFPs.

I've completely lost track on your line of weapons!

Was particularly interested in the earlier dual weapon designs, and wow did they come out looking good!
Planning to purchase a few of each dual options for some XV-9/Crisis suits. Aswell as a bunch of Ion Energy Blasters (honestly the best-looking Ion alternative we have).

I love them! Good size for the heavier missile launchers.
