Crisis Suit kit part 72

So after torturing my mind about this I turn to you guys. I'm trying to figure out the purpose of the number 72 part of the crisis suit kit. I get the feeling I figured it out before, but for the life of me I can't remember. I've thoroughly searched the book trice, looked on the internet and used all logic I could muster, to no avail. I'll fully accept eternal shame on this.

Here is a visual of the sprue, the part is below the leg armor.

Looks like it could be one of those knee-pad armor thingys?

I must admit: I asked this myself too and I absolutely have no idea. I collected the mysterious 72s in my bitbox for the case someone does enough detective work to solve this case.
Good luck!

Nope, doesn't fit.

Does not it is a extra armor plate for the torso?...my new XV8s must wait to be built!

Since part 71 is a groin pad, and 73+ support systems, I always assumed the 72 was an alternate and small groin pad too: it have the profile of the groin low and the carving for the "ball on the groin" ;)

But since it is very small, I think that maybe this part seems to be mounted between part 71 and the groin to fill the gap (the assembly instruction of 71+72 seems to have vanished in the manual)

That might be it Kael'yn, thanks! I already assembled the groin plate (71) and I can't find a picture of the backside of it online so I can't confirm. However, I assembled mine without any problems and the part would be hidden, so I don't really understand the purpose if it is indeed used like this.

That part is actually for some of the arms. It is to be placed over the ball joint. I never would have known if someone on one of the Tau Facebook groups hadn't figured it out.

There is no note or instructions on that particular part at all. I'm glad we now understand the purpose of 72, but damn GW, you could've made it a bit more obvious guys....

The case of the mysterious part 72 is solved!
When I'm back home I have to try to fit this into my already built crisis.

Thank you ATT :D

Hahah.. brilliant work guys. What a random bit part decision in the model design.

Really interesting trivia.

Since the question is answered, I'll lock up the thread.

Any queries, PM the original commentators :)

Top work.
