Lots of stripping and priming this weekend.

Image

Finally making some headway with getting things moving!

Order of To-Do's now;

* Put together my Breacher/Vespid counts-as (with rotor wing backpacks)
* Create a tonne more 'concrete-cork' bases to re-base my existing grey horde
* Prime the rest of the models (crisis, 'tides, few firewarrior squads and drones (about 70) mainly).

I'm not looking forward to creating that many concrete bases, need to find a more efficient way to do it!

Update as of 1/8/17:

My first two models painted in 2018, an XV8 Battlesuit and an XV8 Commander!

Image

Image

From here on out I have four more Battlesuits to paint, but first I'm taking a break and finishing up six more Cyclic Ion Blasters, two Drone Controllers, four Gun Drones, and four Shield Drones!

A couple of weeks in to 2018 and already many interesting projects and cool paintjobs posted up here :D

Elmo, your tank camo is always something to savour. How do you plan out the camo pattern?

In the meantime, I completed the shieldline :) :

Thanks - purely random but I try not to repeat an earlier pattern if I can.

Update as of 1/14:

Posting this a little late but I have two more XV8s completed!

Image

For the rest of January I'm looking to finish up one more XV8, two more XV8 Commanders, and five Gun Drones. Once I do that... I'll basically be done with 1800 points of Tau! Almost there. :D

Vespid proxies! That's all of my infantry constructed, based and primed now. Exciting times!

Love these little buggers! Looking forward to finishing up (need to base and prime about 12 suits of varying type).

Those Vespid proxies look amazing. I've been using ancient metal Chaos Harpy models, stalling until we get the codex and maybe new models? But these look so good I might not wait... Well done.

This Fibonacci joke is as bad as the last two you heard combined.

They fit well enough, you need to file parts of the backpack and affix it to that.

They aren't perfect and need a little work. I was lazy and fixed the, on with gorilla glue gel superglue, but green stuff would also work

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Wow cool! Personally I would turn the wings to let the rotors have a little more downward wash, but that's just me. Great customising!

This week's progress, the drone port and some marker drones to go with it:

I missed whatever short term goal I had, but my long term is still good. Have everything finished before the codex. I finished my objective markers today, and made progress on the last of my drones. The firesight marksman needs some dry brushing and his base finished. After that, a broadside that’s nearly done, and a Stormsurge that has its first base coat.

Very quick and dirty model for a colour test, no lenses or weathering done yet, and I'm undecided on a colour for the little tau 'gyroscope' screwhead patterns on the guns;

Feedback would be much appreciated, obviously the sept is meant to be sa'cea. I'm aware my sept markings are scruffy and the finish is rough, just looking for input on the colours and how they mesh/layer together. Suggestions welcome for contrast colour, 'screwhead' detail, lenses, weathering etc.

Cheers lovers x

Looks like an awesome start! For a bit of feedback, I might consider making the panel lines a dark, shaded blue as opposed to black. Also I definitely recommend the gun gyros to be gold- it looks great alongside the Sa'cea orange in particular. And one suggestion for the overall look- I'd actually make the Pulse Carbine stocks black, not blue. Having them blue seems to draw the eye in two directions (both to the barrel and to the stock). Just my thoughts though!

Well, I have got a mixed amount of stuff done, some Skitarii for an upcoming campaign, and some sniper drones. Up next will be better photos, an Onager Dunecrawler, and a La'rua of firewarriors.
