Puppets War released some interesting head pieces again this week :

Nice replacements for Vespid or similar insectoid auxiliary ideas of your own.

Quick heads up by one of the admin team, thanks Che!

Added a new label to the alternate miniatures thread :

Lead Adventure Miniatures[Link]
I superb range of miniatures by the prolific Ratnik, covering several genres including moderns. The most interesting of which are these Fez wearing steampunk troopers. There is a series of these available; enough to make a Governor's personal guard for scenarios involving Tau diplomats etc..

I just found these, and figured that they would be an interesting alternative to the Kroot.

Dark Potential Miniatures Game
Where humanity is holding on to its very survival. Where nature has reclaimed what was once hers. Where hostile aliens seek to finish what they failed to accomplish a hundred years ago: Destroy all of humanity. Pretty dramatic stuff, but some nice Protoss-esque aliens, the X'lanthos. There is also the 'Reclaimer' faction which would make suitably helmed bipedal opponents as in Battleship, the Movie.

Mantic Dreadball Aliens
Mantic has a few ranges on the go presently and one spin off in particular has been exploring alien entities. Member El'mo sent this one in

Thanks El'mo!

Following this, we heard of yet another sighting:

Khurasan Garns
Khurasan Miniatures is known for their 15mm ranges mostly, however they have 30mm releases of several lines. One of which is the enormous reptilian Garn. Member ecwp1981 spied these for us.

Thanks ecwp1981!

Hi All,

This was submitted by 19mort88 and it's quite a find..

Image Image Image

In all respects and alternate model to our battlesuits, just with the more updated aesthetic we see in new models this year.

Check out more images here from German makes : http://www.heavy-support.com/

"replacement"? this thing is close enough to sue methinks.

A shame really, if it wasn't so "fat" it would have been a "crisis suit +1"

That looks great, but...I can't find it anywhere on the site! The only thing showing for me in their shop is the tank; can anyone else find the not-Battlesuit?

Unfortunately I am still waiting for an answer to my email. I will keep you updated. They are still showing the tank for sale.

The model review is here.

I would like to bring to the communities attention Beyond the Gates of Antares.

I've received a couple of heads up from fellow members (Thanks!) and my own tabs on this smart looking game system. Recently however the new races have been getting a look in. For those interested in alternate allies; they might be worth a markerhit in future purchases, for example:

Worth keeping an eye on indeed... :)

And keeping an eye on I have.. Beyond the Gates of Antares has just posted these army deals. Handy that one faction is in our favourite classical tau colours ;)

Gates of Antares Forces
Beyond the Gates of Antares is Warlord's own Science Fiction wargame, written by Rick Priestley. The first model releases are already available in our webstore. Several factions are included. The figures are slightly larger than GW figures, though the aliens can get away with this easily.

Played a Gates of Antares game using the Beta rules the other night. Fantastic game, so much fun, so involving, so exciting.

Unfortunately those Boromite models are just awful IMO, and even the Algoryn are only OK (they're a bit bland). So I think this game is slipping past a lot of people. Some of the models/armies they're bringing out a lot more later - the Concord on jetbikes look incredible, the Ghar look fantastic... but they had to start with silly rock-monster Boromites. Not clever IMO.

From a pure model/parts perspective.

I'd agree.. those boromites look really awefull... there's a couple static weapon emplacements that look interesting though.

First thing that came to mind on the Algoryn was "Turians" (their armor mostly). They have a neat looking weapon emplacement, and i think I spotted a drone team that looked like the ForgeWorld ones in R'alais kit.
Think I could imagine myself using them as auxilliary/allies, Firewarrior equivalant.

I spy an alternative marker drone. Wonder if you can buy bits from them. Maybe we should bombard them with bits questions. If that's allowed.

I don't think them tiny drones can be markers, way too small to fit as stand-ins.

Mmmm, I don't mind the Boromites and pretty much all that's been critiqued is on par with my own thoughts.

Overall, I could not forgo mentioning this range due to the decent support, variety and potential. Even if bad designs in some cases, they're well made. I look forward to more and glad most agree.
