Battlefleet Gothic

Any other BFG players still kicking? I've been getting a few games in lately, and been enjoying some torpedo overload lol. Anyone else interested, getting started, or a Kor'vattra Vet?

Here's some of my ships to help generate discussion:

Battle I just recently took part in. Had to escort as many shuttles to the planet as possible(affected a Dark Hersey Campaign).

I love BFG! I've only played it a couple times but it was loads of fun and surprisingly well balanced (And really destructive! First turn a nova cannon took out a big swath of my ships, but when I retaliated with my ordinance phase the imperial ships started melting left right and center too).
I play a Farsight Second Sphere Expansion fleet that's super ordinance heavy; tons and tons of mantas.

How on earth did this thread escape my attention. Heck yes I'm a Battlefleet Gothic player still kicking! Or at least I would be if I actually got in games. At the moment I'm more of a Battlefleet Gothic hobbyist.

In fact you can find my fleet of glorious Kor'vattra ships (and a couple of Kor'O'vesh ones for good measure) on this very site, in my Battlefleet Gothic thread here, complete with pictures, background and even a custom Battlefleet Gothic scenario I invented a while back.

And I also wrote up a Battlefleet Gothic article here.

I must say I am very envious of that Void Stalker. One of these days I will have to hunt down one for myself, after I finish painting all the ships I currently have. It is also nice to see the old Niccassar Dhows, which vanished off the face of the model range long before the rest of Battlefleet Gothic. Oh yes, I'm very much a Battlefleet Gothic connoisseur.

I frequent your thread and might have commented on it, not sure...my memory is going.

I love BFG and play as much as possible. I do prefer the FW models over the GW ones. My friend lets me run them using both rules. We just recently got an Ork player/fleet in...so expect a new battlereport/pics up soon! If you have played against Orks before let me know...tips or tricks are apprecited!

You have once or twice I think. I thought I'd point it out in case people reading this haven't already seen it.

As for Ork fleets, I haven't played against them before, but going over the stats for their ships it seems to me that distance would be key. This should be fairly easy to do, as Ork ships are fairly slow. They do automatically pass command checks for the All Ahead Full special order, so be careful about sudden surges forward, but by the same token Ork ships only travel half the usual extra distance for All Ahead Full (2D6 instead of 4D6).

Keeping your distance from them will mean your ships aren't at risk from heavy gunz, which do a TON of damage but have extremely short range, or from being boarded, which Orks are very good at (not quite on the level of Space Marines, Chaos or Tyranids, but still fairly good). Ork ships are also especially vulnerable to ordinance, as they have very few turrets and light rear armour.

Ork Roks can be a bit tricky, but they still have few turrets and they have the same turning rules as the Kroot Warsphere, which makes them somewhat predictable in their movement. Watch out if they bring a Hulk - its slow and expensive, but also extremely hard to bring down, and it packs a ton of firepower and ordinance.

Awesome, thanks! Yeah not sure what he has yet, will see it tomorrow night and then probably arrange a game. Maybe a 2v1, Imerial and Tau vs Orks. We shall see.

We should do up two new threads. A tactics thread and a photo gallery thread to help keep the intrest going.

You could always try out my Mining Fleet scenario - an inability to find other Battlefleet Gothic players near me, and a lack of alternate fleets on my part has meant that I haven't had much opportunity to test it out, so I'd be interested to hear what works in it and what doesn't.

Funnily enough I've thought about a fleet or ship gallery to go along with the Firewarrior, Battlesuit and Vehicle galleries, from time to time before, but I never went far with it because I wasn't sure there'd be enough of a turnout to justify it. I've also thought about doing up a 'fleet census' thread to go with the cadre census one.
