DX-6 'Remora' Drone Fighters & Drone-Net VX1-0

Simple question...

Do the 'Remora' Drone Fighters benefit from the Drone Net's formation rule (Collective Targeting Data) that boosts the Ballistic Skill of all Drones?

What do you guys think?

They are drones. Hm. That's potentially devastating.

No, the Remoras count as vehicles with HP not drones. It would be cool though.

Macknight, is it not possible to be counted as a vehicle with HP and also be a drone?

Based on the Remora Drone Fighter's description in Imperial Armour Volume 3 2nd Ed, it seems that it's clumped into the collective group of all other drones (including the Interceptor Drone). It explains that the Tau Empire "makes extensive use of autonomous machine intelligence" and refers to the Remora specifically as a "drone" several times throughout the entry. In my humble opinion, it makes sense for the Remora to benefit from the Collective Targeting Data rule in regards to the fluff. I just can't find it anywhere in the rules that say it can't.

Unfortunately no, the Remora is like the FW drone turrets, count as a vehicle with HP, even though they are drones. Anything that counts as a drone, will be in the tau codex drone list or on their own with 'drone' special rule in their context.

As for why they can't be drones even fluff support it, ask marine players why their dreadnought is not a MC. :::(

The most important thing is their type. They're Vehicle (Flyer, Hover). There's no 'Drone' anywhere there.

The Heavy Gun Drone, on the other hand, can be part of a Drone Net VX1-0

So we now know both the RAI and RAW!

Ask your group if they are more about the RAI or RAW ^^

Hmmm. The Y'Vahra rules from FW, for the 2 drone entries (shield drone and shielded missile drone):

" Jet Pack Infantry (Drone)"

If the Remora had the "(Drone)" classification in its entry, then yes, that would be workable. eg. "Flyer (Drone)"; Otherwise..

BTW whats the points cost of the Remora? I've been eyeing those models for a while

EDIT: Can't find the Remora rules?? It's not in IA:A 2013 or The Taros Campaign. I can't find it - anywhere.. that's frustrating.

The most current rules for Dremoras are in the Taros Campaign Second Edition book, AFAIK.

They\re in a special appendix at the back of the book, together with XV-9 and R'alai.
