So today I managed to run up to a local store that has Warhammer 40K and picked up another battle suit. After playing a recent game where a team of Deathrains saved the day, I decided to turn him into a Deathrain team leader. I have him tacked down with a tad bit of white glue so I could play around with poses. I like the pose, but I am not really sure what I want to do to him to turn him into a teamleader. I am swinging between keeping the normal head, or creating a custom on like my 'El and Bodyguard. I am leaning towards keeping it standard, but adding a rangefinder or something along those lines.I still need to fill in the cracks with some green stuff, but here is what I have done so far.

So I managed to start painting my Deathrain teamleader, using a new camo pattern. I absolutely love the way it came out, so I'm in the process of touching up and repainting my 'El and bodyguards. The Deathrain is almost done, just needs some clean up and touch.
Here he is,

The flash did drowned out some of the details, and I hope to post a better picture when I'm all done.

Ok, sorry I haven't updated in a while, but I've been pretty busy over spring break, and our computer has been on the fritz. I have finished the Deathrain 'Vre, and just need to base him. I have also finished my touch up on the 'O bodyguards and added squad markings.

The Bodyguards
(I tried to make them look mean as I could. Hope to finish a small conversion on them, adding a chain sword. I figure they would take the reponsibility of guarding the 'O serious, and would train and modify their suits for any threat, even Close Combat)

(This guy needs to have is foot work and position fixed. It got messed and my attempt to fix it just made him look off balance.)

Sorry guys, but for a little while, my tau cadre will be taking a back seat. Right now I am trying to finish my MkII coilgun. The Mk I worked but needs more power. So there won't be a tau update for a little while. If anyone is interested, I could post up work in progess of the coil gun. Hopefully I can get it done for mounting on the school robot. ;) My teacher said if I built it and it was small enough to fit, I could add it one . That and those leftover hammerhead bits are giving me ideas...

Feeling inspired by the greater good again, I picked up some different models from our local store. After neglecting my kroot for a long while, and the rise of orks in our local club, I figured they needed to be dusted off, repainted, and become battle ready. I also picked up a shaper and two hounds to give me a little more options.
Here is shaper. I figured the leader of a successful group of mercs need a little more glamour and bling then the rest of the squad. ;)

I will hopefully finish and put up the other 8 Kroots soon

Sorry for the long delay, the kroot took a back stage as they lost every game I played them in. Its bad when they got mauled by 5 dire avengers, lost combat by 1, failed the moral test and got killed in a sweeping advance. I have ordered and ethereal as a center piece for my army, and have began working on his honor guard. I decide to go with an inverse of my normal scheme, and along with picking up some actually GW paint, there looking pretty good. Here is the first model finished, their team leader.

I added the bayonet figuring tau tasked with protecting their ethereal would forgo normal tau tactics and train for any threat, including close combat, and would modify their gear accordingly.
As always, questions and comments are welcome (even though no one ever posts)

When you say use as a centrepiece, I hope you mean paint to show off but never field :P....

I like the way the whole cadre is coming together, the unified camouflage is really good. The progress you have made in your painting technique is really good, I wish I could make that much progress in such a short time, but alas I am stuck painting as I can.

The suits could use some blacklining to make the colours pop a bit more. You can see examples all over the site.

With regards to you not having regular access to a GW, I use fine-tipped marker pens to do my blacklining, as it gives an overall better effect than I can personally manage with a black wash.

Keep up the progress.

X.

Thanks Xanadu, using a fine tipped marker is a great idea, wish I thought of that. And no, I don't intent for Mr. Big target aka the ethereal, to ever be played in a game, even though a BS4 fire warrior squad is appealing.
So I finished some more of my men in black and blue ;)

Hello Folks! I Finished my Fire Warrior squad completely, along with their gun drones.
Here is the Squad

I'm really impressed with these guys, and I guess having a unit painted really well makes the dice gods favor that unit ;)
So far in the 3 games I've played them in they've
destroyed or help destroy two warwalkers, a rhino, and a dreadnaught.
They've killed four marines, an avatar, 6 dire avengers, and 12 guardians.

And their Gun drones

As well as one of the Betta attack vehicles I whipped up ;)

(I just got him yesterday)
I ordered two more suits, one of which is going to replace the old horrible Broadside, and the other is just going to become an XV8, possible a burning eye.

Hello Folks of ATT! My new suits came in yesterday, and with it being summer and all, i spent 6 hours straight painting and rebuilding them! I also pimped out a new devilfish for my new fire warrior squad.
So first of all, Here was the old devilfish.

and here is the new!

I also replace the actual suit body on my old Broadside, and fitted in a new one!

This is just the new suit I painted up. The Weapons are just friction fitted on there.
(Taken out as the suit just became an entry in the paint challenge.)
(Sorry about the different sized, I havent quite gotten use to photobucket yet. ;))
I also plan on cleaning up this log, making it a bit more organized and reworking the first page, which i have started on if you to check it out. Stay tuned! Is it possible to delete some posts? I have managed to buy some Bladab Black wash, and any advice on applying and using it would be great! All of these guys still have a little work too be done, like lense, etc.
As always questions, comments, and suggestions are always welcome!

Hey there CoDominium, when I look at the camo scheme on those drones, I can obviously see you're a great painter, but you should spent some more time detailing the others. 3 of my major tips:
1) Give them some sept markings in a nice, different, flashy color :)
2) do the lenses, just add some orange in the right down corner and a white dot in the upper left corner of the eye. Really simple but brings them to life!
3) I think the difference between your colors is a little too small. I'd start by doing the fine lines in a lighter color, so that it shows off that you painted them from a distance!
Kern
P.S.: I love your basing style and the missiles are a nice-and-cheap solution to create broadsides from XV8's... Sweet.

Hey Kern, thanks for the advice. The camo scheme was actually extremely easy; it’s where my shaking hand helped me out ;). On sept color, I have never been able to paint those nice, clean straight lines. Plus I would have to know what sept they came from too. I would do the lenses and the outline, but my cat found my small paintbrush to be the prefect size for chewing on. So hopefully I will get another small brush soon. Thanks for the advice and keep it coming! Plus if anyone would want me to make a quick tutorial on how to paint a camo scheme, I would be glad to, just pm me.

Sorry for the delay in posts, but I had to work on my suit for the advanced tau tactica modeling challenge. Unfortunately, I just couldn't finish my fluff in time. But here is what I would have enter in modeling terms.

I went for a K.I.S.S approach on the pilot and the suit, using easily obtainable bits for the jetpack and the pilot's war gear.

I also stripped my sniper drone team and repainted them in the new urban assault colors.

And just cause, a photo of one of my tyranid bio monstrosities ;)

Hopefully I should finish my fluff story and put it up here too. Onto a different matter, I was thinking of starting a tyranids army, mainly because I have started to get into the apocalypse sized army, and I don’t have any other players in our area with that big of an army. Any suggestions?
