That is an amazing conversion!

Would you mind telling me what you used for the armor plate on his chest?

p.s. will you add tribal paintings on him?

It looks like parts of the Skyray turret and a Fire Warrior shoulder pad.

Thank you Che Gue'vesa. Im glad you like the conversion, It took quite a bit of work.

E'nigma is correct about the chest plate. the main part is the panel from a skyray turret with the edges cut down and green stuffed onto the bottom to make the "prongs". A fire warrior pad was then shaved down to cover the centre flat area.

The suit is actually really difficult to photograph. It doesnt come across quite the same way that it does in person. Ill try and get some more angels when I get the model back.

And yes, I do plan on adding tribals to him aswell as replacing the missile pod with one of paulsons (rules were GW only parts for the comp). Im unsure where on the model I want to put the tribals though

Re: T'au26th Tactical interdiction Cadre - bunkers and bastions

Hello everyone. Been quite awhile since I last updated. The good news is that I'm still alive. the bad news is that I haven't had much time for the hobby in the past few months and have left a shameful trail of unfinished projects in my wake. This however is a situation that I will be looking to rectify. With some extra time in my pocket, I have a few new projects to share as well as renewing my commitment to finish my existing projects. Starting tomorrow morning Ill be revising this thread, updating things and making it all round more presentable. Work has also already begun on revising my story project "seeds of fear" as well. After getting into a rut where I wasn't satisfied with the previous parts, Ive gone back and revised the opening chapters, in some places re-writing entire sections. Expect the updates in the stories' thread soon.

In the mean time, here are the projects Ive been dedicating my newly re-instated hobby time to.

First up are some fun pictures I set up and took on my brothers table after he finished a game and let me borrow his army while they were all out:

Next is the first of my altered pose stealth suits. It always bothered me that a unit with the word "stealth" in its name didn't seem to be acting particularly stealthy. So here is my first attempt at a slightly more dramatic stealth suit pose:

Next is the beginning of my scratch build tau themed bunker. It is far from complete with more details needing to be added as well as the surface still needing to be patched in certain places. But here are the early WIP's

Image

Following the theme of bunkers; here is a continuation of an earlier project that still requires painting. A scratch build imperial bunker built into the side of a ridge

Image

and the final piece of terrain. My beefed up multi leveled imperial bastion:

Next (yes, there is still more), in celebration of skies of blood making my black templar storm raven game legal, I set about making a new base for the model featuring an up close and personal dual between an initiate and a genestealer "commandeered" from my brothers collection ;)

Image

Aaaand lastly a project I've been planning for a while. My own custom space marine chapter using a combination of GW, Anvil, Scibor and other misc parts. They have been dubbed "The Scions of Thanatos", Im really looking forward to painting these guys. For now they will remain a lone squad, but once my Tau force is a little stronger, Id like to begin expanding these guys into a playable army. I have some fairly big plans for them as well as a fairly comprehensive amount of background for them.

Superb staging with the last stand photos :D

Loving all your new projects, I missed your Shas'O last year (was in Bali, travelling); regardless, a great modification to the suit - makes me eye off the Skyray parts suddenly hah!

The suit is actually really difficult to photograph. It doesnt come across quite the same way that it does in person. Ill try and get some more angels when I get the model back.

You and me both, I feel your frustration! :nice:

Thanks for the comments Tael. The last stand pictures were a lot of fun to set up. Tyranids are fun to mess around with since you get to play with squirmy little guant swarms all the way up to towering trygons :D .

You and me both, I feel your frustration!

Photography can only go so far; especially when you have no idea what photography is and just click at stuff with a smart phone (*raises hand* guilty) :P

In other news, the reformatting of the first page is underway. Im still messing with the format and fixing up some of the text but progress is steady. Shas'El Suam'ta's entry has also been added along with his accompanying fluff.

Hey everyone.

Just two new pieces Ive been working on to show today. The beginings of my drone-less sniper team. It has never sat well with me that the most artful and delicate marksmanship work was given to a team of drones so I decided to make my own team of Shas snipers for use as a counts as unit.

The spotter (Firesight marksman): Shas'Ui Savon

My first Marksman (still has some work to do on the hood):

Very nice mate.
I am currently in the process of making a unit of snipers too. Not to sure what I shall do yet.

But I do have one thing I must "complain" about. It's more of a rule thing. Your snipers need to be on 30mm bases, as that is the size of the Sniper drones (rule in core rule book, model should be attached to the base it comes with or larger..)
This sadly goes for the Firesight too, who needs to be on a 40mm base.

Now against friends I see no problem with this, but in a tournament environment there will be issues.

I'm just going to leave this here:

Meet shogun 1. My first completed Tau model in who knows how long (plus I guess 2/3rds of an ork model).

I see a bunch of my links have broken throughout my thread. Perhaps I'll go back through and repair them when I get a chance.

I'm seeing some seriously awesome work here! I especially love the work you did with the old Crisis suits. Since the new ones came out, I've had trouble appreciating old ones, but yours look fantastic!

As long as you don't block access to the Pech'Caffe machine in the Admin area; I'm a happy Fio'O.

I am also a very impressed Fio'O - gorgeous work; I'm a total nut for crisp style paint work. Think it's the cartoonist side to my artwork.

Nice light source work too; feel the shield may need more 'feathering' when compared to the vanes and helm unit :) Pretty much my only critique of a great build.

The underslung grenade launcher looks a bit ridiculous and top heavy, rest looks cool, I especially like the drone controller modification. Sgt's knife need some value, right now it looks subpar to the rest of your squad.
For the greater good!

Thanks for the reply Macknight. Honestly, after I built juntas, I thought he was a little too ridiculous as well and had every intention to try something else. The longer I left him though the more I fell in love with his ridiculousness :D by the end, I couldn't bring myself to take away his launcher. In my mind I've explained it away with a combination of light weight future-tech materials and juntas being a particularly burly Shas'La ;) .

I got a little lazy towards the end of the painting with a few details. Partly due to my desire to get my army up to a size where I can play a decent sized game with them, and partly due to the fact that i'd built these models over two years ago and wanted to move onto something else. I might go back and fix up some of the finer details one day, but knowing me, probably not

Such good work and distinct individuals! I'm partial to Shas'La Doran, mostly because of the drone. Keep it up and happy... This Year!
